My uncle owns DSL tires, I don't think i'll ever have to pay for tires, cause I've never had to pay for tires :sly:

This isn't for sure happening, I just have too much extra cash right now that I'm tempted to spend on stupid things, If i'm going to waste my money I might as well waste it on something awesome.

Im not so sure about welding the diff. If you are using it as a daily driver its not such a good idea. My friend has a old 240sx and thought he would save a bunch so he got his diff welded but when he is turning at low speeds there is tire squeel. And welded diffs eat at your tires but Im sure you can get some free ones :).

Also DO NOT TRY TO WELD IT YOURSELF the weld is most likely going to break and your diff is going to lock up. And when it comes to rainy/snowy days trying to drive with a welded diff is very difficult.Also, A welded diff ruins the handling of your car.

If you can afford a LSD get it.
 
11K gets you far.. Well in £ anyway lol..
My brother had an S14 which he spent 5K on modifying.. Swapped the LSD, Upped the turbo he got really cheap, new suspension setup and Complete Exhaust system.

Thing was a pretty mean car and afterwards got ALOT more money and time poured into it so anything is doable with any amount if you have the know how ;)

if you weld your diff, its going to be permanently locked anyway, having welded multiple diff's myself. The tyres scrub at low speed due to the fact that the tyres are rotating at the same speed which as physics suggests you cant corner. My best mates has a 325 with welded dif and its a joy to drive! loads of scrub at low parking speeds (feels just like the handbrake is left on).

at the end of the day the material added to the diff to weld it is stronger and harder than the actual gears of the diff so if anything is going to break it will be a gear diff but if done properly nuthing should go wrong.
welded diffs are perfectly fine to summarise, a touch different to drive with regards to understeer and oversteer but im at work so wont point that out here...

back to the topic...

11K would buy a nice starter drift car (mx-5, silvia13,14or15) and get it to a very nice spec without much effort obbiously cage is a first big must have thats going to be about 1K not fitted and then simple thinks like straghthough decatted exhaust system and a nice free flowing backbox and filter a good service to get a few of the desserted ponies back a nice racing seat and stripped interior to name a few simple and cheaper changes that can make all the differance!
personally speaking if i was to enter a form of motorspot id want to enter time attack in the uk over drifting just something about the time attack prototype classes that make me :drool:

Am I on GT5? God no, I stayed up all night at my newly aquired girlfriend's house, didn't sleep a wink. I just drove home a few minutes ago, I'm about to get some sleep. I might come on for a bit later pending if I'm going to hang out with her or not. I do have the drifting bug though, I'll probably set up my wheel and have a quick sesh in a handful of hours.

Thank for the advice guys, me and my buddy went for a cruise down south today to look at a '94 R33 GTS-T, its a little more than I want to pay ($8900) but I think I could barter the price down quite a bit, heres a couple pictures I took of it

The car looks like its in pretty good shape, I'm going to wait until saturday when the owner is available to show me more, think this would be a good starter?

I didn't quite understand Pwners comment on the other Thread, so i went here to understand. Wow is all i can say, and will.

Very nice for a starter, imo. Maybe too good, in terms of condition. I wouldn't want my first car to be in perfect shape, otherwise it'll probably hurt so much more the first time you hit something. Is it the 2 Liter Turbo? That equipped with a limited slip diff and you should be ready to roll.

That is a Clean Looking GTS-T. Definately a good platform to start buuuuuuut, 8900 for a starter car that may recieve ALOT of bumps and scrapes...?

Yeah I kind of figured this was going to be the consensus. Hmmmmm.. Well i'll still go on saturday and check it out, If I can manage to talk him down on price then I'll consider it, if he is firm with the price than i'll keep looking, hell I only started looking a few days ago, so i'm sure something better will pop up. 👍

Ahh, it's so bloody hot in my house. Windows are open heating is off, yet, yet, it's still hot. I don't know if I can sleep, I feel like I'm in a kilt. Sesssssh.
