My 1989 oldsmobile Delta 88 does 0-60 in approx. 11 seconds. It's a V6, too. It has lost a lot of power over the last 2 years...

My girlfriends Ford Ka probably has you all beat: 1.3 4cyl, 59 bhp, 0-62 15.4secs!!, top speed 95 mph (although we have got close to 110mph in it!!).

My old Citroen GSA is probably not the slowest, sounds like StevieMo's truck has that dubious honour, but it's certainly right down there with the worst of them. It weighs 920kg, has a 1.3 litre flat 4 with a massive 65bhp and takes over 16 seconds to get to 60. Once it gets going it isn't too bad and will keep at 90mph on the motorway without too much effort. Most I ever had was 107mph with the mother of all tailwinds, lol.

Dont worry guys, Mums Mini Clubman S is an 1100cc engine, with about 40hp through a 4 speed.

Probably about a 22 second quarter mile. But in the corners it kicks ass.

*cough cough*

1990 Mini, 998cc, 4-speed manual. I'm taking it down a quarter mile on the Halloween weekend, so I'll post times. 0-60... takes some time. I daren't try overtaking anything on a single-lane road because I don't have the power. Top speed is somewhere around 95mph, downhill, but I don't actually know because the speedo only goes up to 90. Uphill it's about 70-75mph.

It has a fun factor of several million in the twisty stuff, though.

[ and it can already do burnouts across a walmart parking lot

Now that my friends is the definition of redneck....driving an american car, doing burnouts at the Walmart marking lot !!

👍 👍 👍 👍 👍[/QUOTE]

first of all i dont take to kindly to being called a redneck, and the only reason i have this car is because my mom sold it to me really cheap after i moved out($500 and take over payments) and the exhaust sounds kind of nice. Im going to get a FC3S soon, rotory baby!

You own a Mini and i havent seen pictures?! GAH!

:)

Yeah, I kinda have to get round to that one day. When I got it, in June, I thought to myself "I'll take some piccies for GTP" and then forgot. If it's a nice weekend I'll try to remember to take some.

I've just come back from a friend's house and I did a 0-60 run (it's 3 in the morning, so there's no-one around); I haven't spent ages practising starts, and I was timing using my watch, and the road was slightly uphill (I could be a racing driver with these excuses) but I got a time of 30 seconds. Good do better, I feel.

Try this on for size. an 86 pulsar. 1.6 liter sohc carburated mated to a three speed auto. rated at 75 hp new, but only one of the jets in the carb is, well, sort of spraying. more like trickling. you do the calculating. I put some octane boost in the tank to keep it from detonating. it wont even break torque past 2 grand and starts to make a sickening clatter at 4000. thats right where it pegs the revs in third at 60 mph. oh yeah, and it stalls when you take your foot of the gas. dont worry, a replacement engine and tranny are in the works, but first I have to lock down my daily driver. 91 Buic Regal custom. 3.1 liter V6 150 hp baby! come on its my first (running) car.

but what i dont understand is why make such a big car front wheel drive?

Honda Insight

+ 10-kW electric motor assist
5 speed manual
67 hp
0-60 mph in 12sec
it has to be the slowest car ever!!!!!!!

Good drag coefficient, though. it's like .25 or something. One of the best ever for a production vehicle (am I thinking of the Prius?)

You don't have much imagination, do you?

The Daewoo Matiz, with 50hp, take 17s to reach 60mph.

The Daihatsu Move, with 42hp, takes 19.1s, with a peak of 81mph.

The 750cc FIAT Panda, packing 34hp, takes 21.5s (78mph maximum).

The 850cc Seat Marbella, essentially a clone of the above FIAT Panda, takes a staggering 23.2s.

These are all topped by the most awesomenest People Carrier ever. Whilst the above cars all have the excuse of sub-litre engines, this car comes with a 2.3 litre diseasel engine and an even slower 2.0 diseasel. These engines push, respectively, 75 and 67hp - yes that's 32.6hp/litre for a vehicle produced only in the 1990s (1993-1996). Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the high-performance, can-carry-7-but-only-very-slowly:

Nissan Serena
2.3 diesel: 0-60mph in 26.5s, 84mph
2.0 diesel: 0-60mph in 31.0s, 81mph

You think 0-60mph in 12s is slow? Pffft.

Why'd you rip off the TBI?

You do know it has TBI, right?

Chrysler's never made a V6 with a carb.

1987 was the only year the Dakota was Carb'd. The engine is completely stock and I actually have some pictures if you want. After '87 they switched to the TBI and I believe they went with the Magnum in 1991.

I was makeing fun of my 48 hp per liter pos first car.

and dont even get me started on the 3800 series engine.

whats wrong with the 3800 series 2? it's nice, its fast, and for some unknown reason front wheel drive.

Hey can anyone tell me a logical reason why pontiac made such a big car front wheel drive?

OMG. I've never seen something so powerless. :)

I just HAD to look this up. Every single piece of information I've ever read about the 3.9L, and every single current or former Chrysler employee I've ever talked to has said that they never EVER made a V6 with a carb.

But they're wrong, and you're right! '87 3.9Ls had Holley 6280 2-barrels!

That said: you poor bastard! I've put many kilometres on a '90 Dakota with its 3.9L TBI, with all of 125hp, and it's a slug. I can't imagine what it must be like to drive one with a craptacular Holley feedback...

well i cant compete with some of these but my first car was a 91 geo storm which falls under the "sporty" category so maybe i can compete for the slowest "sporty" car. Coming in with a whopping 95-horsepower, overhead-cam 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine was my beauty. the 3 speed really gave it go like no other. the fact that the windshield wipers didnt work and i lived in washington really made it special for me too. but it was very low and you could go pretty fast around corners in it. good gas mileage so overall it was a good car to drive until someone creamed it.

Well I can't have the slowest, but I'm not far off.
1172cc
Clio 5 dr 1993.
I have no idea of engine power or 0-60 just kno it takes me a millenium to get up to 30, and thats thrashing the absolute balls off of it. having said that a hell of a lot of fun to drive, like Famines old Fiesta.
Actually Famine, you're not gonna like this but personally I think the clio for handling ability is better than the Fiesta...well at least my mates 1.3 anyway.
Also on that side note Famine, I'm going to see Bill Bayley do Part Troll this Sunday 👍. Gonna rock your socks!!

Well, what else are these stores good for? Buying high-quality merchandise?

We used to run the Back Lot of K-mart 100 mile race every weekend! Plenty of mobile ess-bends, things to dodge, cones here and there; all in the days before speed bumps have been liberally strewn about. TTJ just doesn't know how to have fun...

My old car takes the cake...
1985 Honda Civic wagon, part time 4WD.
1.5 L, 12 valve, carburated.
72 hp, negligible torque.

I never laid more than 2' of rubber in that car (and belive me I tried...). Pathetic. I think the 0-60 was 12 sec.

Meet my 1993 Hyundai Excel 3-door:

1.5 liter SOHC engine, Front engine/Front-drive
Fuel-injected.
4-speed manual transmission
81 horsepower
91 lb/ft or torque
0-60 in 13 seconds
No Anti-Lock Brakes (I've locked the wheels a few times).
No Power Steering (A 🤬 when parking in a tight spot).

Believe it or not, I have spun the wheels many times, mainly the inside front tire when turning out of a driveway. The highest I've revved the engine was 5000 RPM (1000 shy of redline). Nothing has gone wrong with it, except for the timing belt which was never replaced since new (at 134,000 miles!!)

On the highway, even though I have my foot to the floor, the car still slows down on hills. In fact, it reminds me a lot of my father's two Chevrolet Chevettes he had before we got the Hyundai. Even the 13" wheels are the same size!

But it cannot be as bad as two cars: The Ford Fiesta/Festiva and a Yugo--I happen to call the Excel the "Korean Yugo".

Sounds a lot like my current 1990 Honda Civic
4 spd manual
92 hp, I don't know the torque
No ABS
No Power steering
Originally had no radio
Vinyl seats

But unlike your Excel, my car actually has some kick on the highway (and I can spin the tire all the way through 1st, and chirp them as I shift into 2nd; poor tranny takes a beating, though). And unlike you, I've taken up to a scary 110 mph (indicated) 3 times. I've also bumped the rev limiter maybe 3 or 4 times.

The old '85 Civic had no rev limiter, but the redline was indicated at 5500 rpm. I took it up to 6000 rpm once (and it's still running, 20,000 miles later).

My dad's old late 80s' early 90s' F150. I'm not sure what it is. All I know is it runs fine except one thing. The passenger side cylinders have about a quarter the compression of the driver side . The header is broken and the bolts broke off inside the block! One good thing though...my dad is thinking of performance heads, intake, and full exhaust. Headers and everything. IT'S A BEAST! *cough*

am i right in saying you are american over here in britain our cars would be considred static to you guys for instance the average car here costs £40 to fill up to fill the same car up in the U.S.A costs £8 lol it sucks for us plus our cars are slower the average car taking about 14 or 15 secs to 60mph it really sucks here u are all so lucky my family have a mini yay

Our 1992 4WD Subaru Legacy used to have a 70 hp 1.8L GL engine but now it's fitted with a 150 hp 2.2L Turbo engine and it flies :D And our second car: 1996 Saab 900 SE Cabriolet 2.3L AERO 250 hp

Cheers,

I wonder if I could run with you all? 97' Eclipse GS with an automatic transmission, catback exhaust (which actually kills power on a four cylinder with almost no backpressure...they need some), & 18' rims (heavy too).
