its the same way with smoking as far as cheap brands and better brands, can someone that smokes shed some light on that subject for us that don't smoke? If you smoke lets say Camels and you buy a pack of cheaper brand smokes is it a huge difference or not that tolerable?

I did notice a difference between better brands (Newport, Marlboro, Camel etc.) Than the cheaper brands (Basic, Pall Mall etc.). The cheaper brands there was a noticeable difference in the quality IMO. Maybe it was just be but going from lets say Newport's to Basic menthol one day because I was short on cash was really extreme. The Basic Menthols were nasty and kind of harsh and left a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe it was just me ad my preferences but I found a huge difference. Granted Newport's were my favorite but I could tolerate other better menthol cigs. Even with non menthol, going from Camel or Marlboro to Pall Mall non menthol was impossible. Both cases they were so bad I had to toss most of the pack. Other brands I feel were a lower quality but I still tolerate were KOOL's and Salem (barely). Once you smoke a higher quality brand of cigarette you can really tell what brands are good and what brands aren't.

I may check out that website, just don't want to mail the coupons to my house because my parents are happy I stopped smoking and I am sure they would be disappointed I dip. Considering they never knew.:indiff:

another thing you'll note is that the quality changes over the years. i noticed a distinct drop in the quality of camels. I just hope Marlboro's dropped some intensity :P

I think Marlboro's paper is really bad. They burn unevenly and disintegrate once ashed out a car window. I feel Newport's and Camel's are a lot better. The only Camels I smoked were Turkish Silver blends, filters and menthol and I thought they were pretty solid. I guess I cannot make a judgement on their quality as opposed to years ago because I started smoking in early 2006 and I assume they have not changed too much. Plus I didn't frequently smoke them.

Turkish Royal Camels were the best smokes I've ever had, smooth and sweet tasting. As compared to something like Poker cigarettes, which taste smell and are utter crap. There is like already said, a huge gap in quality.

And while I hate to keep beating the Snus drum being repetitive and all... Getsnus.com has free General Wintergreen, White Original or sample packs with three portions in each, just a dollar for shipping. So, you can try some good stuff for a cheap price, the White original, as well as Wintergreen are full 25 pouch cans.
Just thought I'd throw it out there since you guys said you have yet to try anything but the camel.

And I'm pretty sure you can still get a totally free sample pack from General via their web site.

Snuff is a different beast. Snuff is a powder that is just horrid and nasty to me, my great aunt dipped snuff. Moist tobacco like I dip stays put and I dip long cut so it doesn't go all over my mouth like fine cut and snuff would. Snuff is more of an "old timers" type of deal.

The last time I saw snuff some dork was doing lines up his nose with it:scared:

tobacco sites need a signature even for samples. and thanks to identity thieves, I don't take a chance. I also don't have a credit card for that reason, and almost every where required digital credit, nowadays.

socom: hyper rapid burning papers (probably a safety measure, but most likely a profit motive) are one of the main reasons I've gotten away from acutall cigarettes. that and the poor packing they do when filling the tubes.
here's a little tip I picked up from my early boomer parents and "greatest gen" grandparents, plus a lot of older guys I know. tap the thing on a hard surface to repack the leaves in the tube. cigs are notorious for being underpacked (probably so they don't rip the paper to shreds). you'll see name brands drop an eighth of an inch, and knockoffs can drop a good quarter to 3/8 of an inch!

and no, cigs have changed mightily over the years. the fun part is finding still unfiltered smokes, now (some older people won't touch a filter tip cause they used to use cork). camel's ,for example, didn't used to have "flavours" and "menthol" was apparently originally intended for African-American sales. they also tried to put up a universal ban on all "flavour" additives added to tobaccoo as a "kiddie deterrant"

I really, really hope he doesn't have kids:ouch: Please tell me he wasn't so stupid that he thought that was how it was suppose to be used? If he knew it wasn't and was snorting it to somehow be funny, which doing that isn't funny at all to me, then at least that would be a little better then him thinking it was a dirty cocaine....lol

The last company I worked for I had to travel to different states to different AT&T sites installing new laptop system and RFID cages in their vans. The reason I'm saying this is because the guy that I worked with smoked (allot!) and being outside of our state you have access to different brands etc. He claims that the smokes he bought while we were in Georgia and North and South Carolina burnt allot faster and also tasted slightly nasty compared to the same brand and type of smokes that he bought here and used here in Alabama. I'm not sure if it was just something in his mind or if they ship different "types" of the same brand to different regions. To me it wouldn't make any sense to have different regions with different paper types unless some states require the fast burn paper for safety because of higher fire hazards like California for example. And the only way I could see them sending different types if that is the case with fire hazard area would be that the fast burn type paper is more expensive so if they aren't required to have that paper in that state then they don't produce the cigarette with it for that state? Sorry if all that is slightly hard to get due to the way I worded it, it shouldn't be but just trying to plan out how to say that in my brain just isn't working this morning:dunce:

I didn't know what was an old trick lol, I packed every cigarette smoked over the 4+ years I smoked, I always noticed I could get a nice 1/4 inch down on a newp 100. The only cigs that I had a problem with with uneven burning and it falling apart when ashing out a car window is Marlboro.👎

Oh and breakpoint, I believe different states get different types of paper and maybe even different quality tobacco. When I was in South Carolina 2 years the cigs were all pretty crappy. I think they used a different paper or something and the menthol cigs tasted all horrible, even Newports.

About half of the people in our year at school have/do smoke.

I smoke and dip a fair bit, no addiction yet thoughh, thank god. Right now I'm dipping Cope Wintergreen, which is good stuff! Grizzly wintergreen is pretty good too, not gonna lie. Dip is more my chill/relax/use when fishing stuff. As far as smoking, I like Camel Crush :)

I have a lip of cope wintergreen in right now and I really enjoy it. I may go back to skoal because I feel cope doesn't stay put to well for me.

When I smoked I never really liked Camel Crush. I think it was just my preference but when it was uncrushed it tasted like garbage to me and when it was crushed it was way too powerful. But, To each his own I guess :).

Signature where? I never sign for my packages when they come, and on Generals website, I didn't have to do anything but enter my shipping and birthday. But as with ordering anything, if your paying for it, you'd use your debit card, so you'd have to put out some information. So if that is what you meant by signature then yes.

I tried those Crush Camels, they were weird. I liked the Menthol, but not the regular un-crushed.
The best weird Cigarettes Camel ever had were those Ismir Stinger's, I miss them haha. They also came in a cool tin.

In other news, I've set a date to go smoke free, so I'm going to try and go out with a bang, Get some Player's Navy Cut if I can find them again, they are horrifically strong, but something about them is appealing to me, just not the price haha. I have a Major Snus order en-route now, so I'll have plenty to keep me off the smoky stuff. In the process so far though, I've stocked a bunch of Snus I don't like much, but perhaps I'll like it more when I don't have Cigarettes clogging up my taste bud's and lungs.

Way to go man!👍👍👍👍 Itll be tough for a few days but after about the 3rd day it gets a lot easier. Im at 11 days and I feel a lot better I have even started running again, which also keeps me from wanting to smoke. My coughs have dried up and I just feel a lot better about myself.

BTW breakpoint just finished my tin of cope and I did it in 5 dips. Granted I do basically bottom horseshoes one or so a day but I think next tin which is Kodiak Wintergreen (out of anything good) and I am going to try to make it last 10 dips this time. I think I just tried to go balls out this tin because I need my big fix every night.

How do handle that much dip at one time? I wouldn't be able to function with all that in my lip, and that's without even bringing in the nicotine and what not. I like a nice sized pinch on the side, so I can still talk.

Cope stays together great for me, it's about as sticky as Grizzly in my mind. Kayak falls apart pretty much, which is a shame, because kayak apple is some good stuff!

The thing I like most about Crush's is how strong they are when crushed, but I can't stand the uncrushed taste. I like really strong cigarettes when I smoke, so Crush fit the menthol bill, and Turkish Royals fit the normal cig bill. Haven't really tried too much else, besides marlboro menthol and 305's, neither of which were great, but the Marlboro menthols were ok

Well, I don't smoke, never have, never will, but I have nothing against those who do. In fact, I actively protest the constant taxes being introduced on tobacco in Australia, although I choose not to touch it myself. So chalk me up as a no, but do not worry, I am not a hater, so no hate from me.

Well i smoke Marlboro for 16 years now... i really wish i could quit:guilty:! Ill smoke one to think about it !

But hey i quited drugs and alcohol 3 or 4 years back:idea:👍:D!

@Mustang-

I just smush it in there and hold it tight with my bottom lip and cheeks lol, and if it tries to get loose I mash it back in there with my tongue. I only do it while sitting down watching tv or listening to music so I guess I don't need to funtion.

Try Newports there pretty damn strong:)

I don't smoke, but I just took 4 lortab 10's so no comment on the last of your post:)

LSX: copenhagen was giving away a heavy duty can cap, and they not only required a Digital Signature (for proof) but a photocopy of my liscence!! oh, no your not. they must have been getting kids trying to cash in.

and HOW do you get the likes of Players in the states? the last time I heard of those, I was reading a murder mystery written in the thirties.

How do you get the likes of Players in the states? Im not following what your talking about here, explain for me please.

Thanks mate, appreciate it. Part of it is the fact that I feel that if alcohol is permitted to advertise, along with caffeine products, and so on, tobacco companies have the same right. Also, as a motorsport fan, I would love to see a return to the old tobacco company liveries :D...

Haha, I get Players at a local Tobacco shop. Or at least I used to, they no longer sell them. I settled on a pack of Export A full flavor

They were very good as I don't believe they are fire safe, so the taste was extremely clean. Canada makes some great smokes.

break: i assumed they were a BDM smoke (British domestic market). but I shoulda realized there'd be a version from up north.

Semanic: not gonna happen. they way they're working things, they're gonna do to tobacco what they tried to do to alcohol with the 18th ammendment, except this time, they're gonna suceed.

I had no idea what was even meant by players whatever was said, I don't smoke, I was thinking players like as in Hey playa....lol.

I like being able to talk and such without tensing my face to hold it in place... Then use my tongue to put in place, unless its straight, then I use my finger lol.

Newports... Can't stand the smell, and they tear up my throat, not a fan :( Those were the first pack of cigs I ever bought. If I'm gonna smoke, now I just do Crush or Turkish Royals. And thankfully with every window open the smoke smell doesn't stick in my truck :)

You've smoked as long as 16 years!? Wow that's too bad for your health.. :guilty:

And I don't smoke or dip, about smoking I can't do it until I become 20, but I'll never do that even after reaching the age, thinking of my health :D

Well, I've been smoke free since May 1st. It's fun, I've ran, worked out, used lot's of Snus. If it were not for General Ekstra Sterk, I might not be doing as well as I am, but so far things are going very well. I don't plan on looking back now, then I can't exactly predict the future, I just plan to keep on going with the way things are and stay smoke free for good. :D
