Smoke, Dip, or neither?

Thats strange about you liking the smell. My last job I did work for ATT in different states so I stayed at hotels every night. I had two guys that worked under me and both of them smoked. We would split a room with two beds and one of us would sleep on an air mat and rotate that out every night to make it fair, 15 dollar room every night was sweet. They would both smoke in the room and in hotel rooms there is no ventilation, that crap was killing me cause the entire room was full of smoke. I started smoking some swisher grapes and they both hated the smell because they said so in the van, everytime they would fire up a cig I would fire one of those up. They got the message and started going outside. I like the smell of unlit cigs for some reason though.

Maybe it's some weird psychological thing about me liking the smell/not minding smoke now? It could also be that all of my friends here in Alabama smoke as well. Every once in a blue moon, I'll have a Swisher or a Black n Mild, but that's maybe once or twice a year.

It depends weather I like the smell or not. Sometimes I cannot stand it and other times it smells very good. I don't know what triggers it. About the Snus, Its going to be a little while before I will be able to order it, but if your order it let me know how it is.

BTW: Just tried out the new Marlboro Snus Rich flavored and I really enjoyed it. Its close to the flavor of Camel mellow, but a little more flavorful. Popped two in during class and it was nice. The only thing is it really juiced up my mouth an had to spit, maybe because i have been using dip lately.

After trying Marlboro Snus and ending up not liking any flavor that much, as well as wearing out Camel Frost, I finally went ahead and ordered some Swedish Snus.

Took four days to get here, but wow worth the wait for sure. For one, a larger portion, next the equivalent of four packs of Marlboro or two cans of Camel Snus (depending on it being a trial or a full can) with a price right in the middle of the two. General Onyx being the most expensive at $4.20 a can, the rest were roughly $3.40 - $3.70 a can. But even better, there is actually Nicotine in these brands. So far I've only used the Onyx Sterk, which actually made me lightheaded, along with a friend whom dips Cope. He also added that it was a good deal more potent than the dip he's used to using.

Very punchy stuff for sure, but overall even more enjoyable than the Americanized versions of the product. I smoke about a pack a day, and I wanted a smoke when I got home from work, but instead, I popped in a pouch of the General Onyx, I still don't want a smoke now...

The taste is odd, though I doubt I'm tasting it right anyhow, due to smoking, but I do taste the citrus, which does fade, it's mildly salty as well. Kind of weird to explain, but it's better than anything I've tried to date. I'm excited to try the Roda Lacket when I decide to go for another. From what I've read, it tastes the way cherry pipe tobacco smells, which I've always liked.

So as it stands, I'm hoping this is my ticket out of smoking. It's too early to tell, but from the Nicotine rush I just got, I cant see smoking that much other than to just smoke something.

I'd recommend if you've been on the fence about it to give it a try, you can get free samples from General Snus on their website. Also, plenty of places ship right out of the US, so shipping is just as expensive as ordering CD's.

And I'd like to add, I'm glad I got the Sterk/Stark and not the Ekstra Sterk/Stark, I don't believe I'd be able to handle much more Nicotine at once, really, it was surprising how strong it really was going from Camel and Marlboro, which only hold you over between smokes, I think this will do quite a bit more than just hold you till you can get out.

I'll report back after trying some of the others.

Quit smoking 6 days ago and it was the best decision I could have made. I use 1 pouch of snus and one lip of skoal long cut a day and I am going to slowly quit that too I think. Whatever the case My lungs are clean after 5 years

I have got about 6 packs of the marl snus for free because my mum smokes and she keeps using coupons to get free snus when she buys her smokes and gives the snus to me. The nicotine level in the american snus is way below whats in my skoal, way below. I use a pretty big pinch of skoal so when using the snus I usually have 3 pouches in and it still just does nothing. So if you have tried the snus to cut back or quit smoking and it doesn't seem to work try ordering some of the real snus because it does give the kick of nicotine that you need.

I decided a few months ago I wanted to quit smoking for myself and set a certain date which was April 20th to smoke my last cigarette. I basically smoked normally but syked myself up because if I was half-assed I would go right back to it. Also I quit solely for myself, not my parents or gf, myself. If you quit for any reason for yourself it will not work.

I tried 2 times for my gf and failed after a week both times and it was rough. Now that I did it for myself. I am whole heartedly done with smoking. Granted I do miss it considering I smoked consistently for about four years but I don't have the urge for one at all, that subsided after the 3rd day. I will only smoke again if I knew I was going to die or something and it wouldn't affect the remainder of my life.

It does help I use camel snus once a day and some skoal long-cut at night. the camel is basically for a fix if I start to get a bad itch and the dip is kind of like a reward to myself at the end of the day. Now I am making sure I don't abuse these 2 because I have a very addictive personality and could possibly start to use these oral tobaccos more and more. As of now I feel I have a good routine and hope to phase out the dip eventually and just stick with snus.

I use camel snus and usually throw in 2 pouches and I do feel a SLIGHT buzz. But I also quit smoking and only use snus once a day so my tolerance is quite low. I also start to spit after about 15 or 20 mins of having in a lip and keep it in for about 45 mins to an hour. I think snus is basically a cheap nicotine gum type deal for people trying to quit other forms of tobacco and need a slight fix to help them stay strong.

I do enjoy both flavors of Camel snus and it is a great quitting smoking helper. I have only tried the Marlboro "Rich" flavor in the red box and it wasn't bad but I think ill stick to Camel. Me and a friend are going to split a roll of some strong Swedish snus soon but we keep procrastinating.

Off topic a bit but what flavors of dip do you use?

I haven't strayed away from Skoal in the 6 or so months of light use. I enjoy wintergreen, wintergreen edge, berry and citrus (preferably long-cut but pouches are okay too) and I tried Kodiak wintergreen pouches because Skoal wasn't in stock at the time and they were not too bad.

I look at dip as more of a sitting back all comfy with music and/or T.V. and getting a good buzz or sitting around with your buddies after a long day or a game and chilling (my roommates dip as well). I swore to myself I won't do it more than once a day so I can get a real good buzz (granted I throw in a fat lip). Back when I smoked and on the occasion I had a tin I would do both multiple times a day and it was pointless. I treat it like it's like a "nightcap" for my day.

I like cope black, but if your not a whiskey drinker or even if you are and you mix your whiskey and don't drink it straight then black is for sure not for you! It is flavored with jack daniels, I also worried about getting pulled over and having a dip or just got rid of it and smelling like whiskey and having to deal with that bs so I switched. I like the apply better anyways, it has a nice sort of burn to it.

I've got a few cans of loose General ES, its hard to handle for me but does kill a craving right away, only downside is like I said, hard to keep put because its fine like dirt, and I feel pretty light headed. I think I'd enjoy it more in pouches, or with an ice tool to pack it tightly.

I drink whiskey occasionally but I don't think I would like to deal with the smell of it on my breath. Maybe I'll try apple next time. My roommate used to do it and for some reason can't even smell it anymore so I figured it was bad.

I can honestly say I only get between 6 and 8 (at most) out of a tin. I stick 2 quarter size pinches on each side of my lip and it spreads out though most of my bottom jaw. I could be wrong though, I will count next time and report back.

I know it's not fine cut Dip, but this is how fine Lös Snus is, I'd imagine fine cut dip to be a little more coarse cut than that. Because this is kind of like dirt.

The smallest pieces you can see are about as small as it gets. It's hard because you can't poke it with your tongue that much, it's hard to drink things while it's in. The other thing is, without an Ice Tool to portion it out, it's a bit hard to judge how much your using. The Pris in the picture it about as much as I use at a time though, super high nicotine level...

Sniffs, don't let the American Snus ruin it for you, that stuff really has next to no Nicotine, as well as tastes like garbage, aside from the Camel Frost, which still is way too sweet in comparison to the Swedish variety. There are way, way better things out there.

I have nothing against other brands or different "flavors", is that the word for them? I prefer apple over anything but if they just stopped making it I would use either wintergreen or a pack of levi and say forget dip. Fine cut is about that fine LSX, if not even more so than that. Around my area in the city you can find just about any type or brand but if you get out more in the country its hard to find anything other than straight fine cut, redneck guys think if you don't dip straight fine cut you are a "wussy". I'm not a wussy for dipping apple long cut, I just prefer a little taste sometimes:tup:

It isn't used any different than long cut, I have bought it by mistake before (didn't notice the clerk gave it to me until I opened it) and it doesn't stay compacted at all, well it doesn't stay compacted for me at all. That crap was all over my mouth from between my teeth to between my rear jaw and cheek. When real dip gets back there it does an auto gag reflex also. Different brands are different, I think it depends on how moist it is really because the skoal fine cut was all over my mouth that time but the cope black is fine cut now that I think about it and I dipped it all the time with no problems, but that style is super moist, as in twice as moist as the normal,

Well if the smoke didn't effect other people trying to eat then I would agree, I don't enjoy smoke all in my face or my kids faces for that matter while we are trying to eat. Smoking is fine if you want to do it, but when it effects others like in a restaurant then thats when it effects others health which shouldn't be allowed to happen, so I am glad the bans were put into place. It would be like me shooting up opiates in public and throwing my needle into your face when I'm done

for those of you who don't get it, fine cut is very VERY tiny squares of cured tobacco. they really DO get into your teeth. and watch out for some cheapie brands. a lot of those are such poor quality that large pieces of STEMS get included.

if the remaining smokers REALLY get desperate, head for the "little cigars" section, which are half the price of cigarette tobacco. except in Pennsylvania, where, the govener, being denied his toll money for fixing the roads, has taxed the crap out of tobacco to try and make up for it.

The stems will be in any brand sometimes not matter how expensive or cheap, they just can't help them getting in there. I dip only skoal and its one of the better brands and about 1 our of 10 cans or so I will have to pull a stem or two out of my mouth. I can't dip cheaper brands like husky or grizzly, I would but those before when I was broke and I would always regret it and end up not even finishing the can. Once you have used good quality for a while the cheap stuff is just pure crap. I don't know if its the same way with smoking as far as cheap brands and better brands, can someone that smokes shed some light on that subject for us that don't smoke? If you smoke lets say Camels and you buy a pack of cheaper brand smokes is it a huge difference or not that tolerable? With dip, quality makes a huge difference, huge.


Also forgot this, for you guys that do dip, if you dip skoal then make sure to go to the skoalbrotherhood.com and sign up because you get really good coupons in the mail every month and can also print out 1 coupon a month!
