Just wanted to interject my observation. Each track has markers in the terrain, pavement ,signs to help guide you into braking zones and turn in locations. These can even be the corner marshalls. Start looking for these and you wont need to run the guides anymore just my 2 cents. Hope this helps you guys

A trick I've been using for years even to this day is the suggested gear indicator on the HUD. The game does a good job of telling you when to brake. It all depends on the car and track, sometimes I'll use other guidelines or markers on the track or in my peripheral vision. But most of the time I'm just using the gear flashing on the HUD. Theres times when applying the brakes at the split second it flashes isnt optimal, so I'll experiment with 1 or 2 Mississippi's in my head when it flashes and figure out when its best to brake. Something to try out if all else fails

while we are at it..

Every track is different, but every track has some type of markings already to help you break and turn. The most used by the Wolf are rumble strips. I find it the most consistent across all tracks; most rumble strips are located where you 'should be' starting to break and as Sam said, it varies by your own speed and car. so practicing by trial and error helps a lot. This also changes when racing when others versus racing a clean line uncontested. Example, Laguna Seca and Suzuka, has those red squares at the apex. Someone told me long ago to aim to put the inside tires on the red squares and this is probably the best tip anyone could've told me. For those tracks that don't have them, I put them on my head. This is by far the fastest way for these corners.

Then, you also have the normal distance markers that do not change at all.

Just a heads up... I'm on-call supporting setups in time zones that are 3 and 5 hours behind us. Usually they're wrapped up well before we race, but with the time difference they'll probably crush me around 9pm and midnight EST. Point is, I'll either forgo this week's race entirely or I may only be on for a couple of races. If I have to bail, I'll pull off somewhere and park it... unless this is a problem for anyone. I can just plan on skipping this week if that's easier for everyone to manage.

Looks like we don't have anyone new, we still do need volunteers for scorekeeping and Data for this week. If you can complete these tasks this week please post here.

May i be removed from my responsibilities as backup host and replay please.

I had no problems uploading replays from Sunday's races so i will upload from now on. Excuse me for my lateness last night, their was a family event and i didn't get home till after 8pm.

Well, it looks like somebody already took care of data this week. I can takeover next week, unless the mystery data specialist can’t get enough.

Is anyone interested in taking over the DM position?

No problem at all RC, I was waiting for you, but as time got near I went ahead and hosted the room. You are still the host.

Sorry for double post but there was some question about qualification.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

As a continuing effort by the BoD to streamline our procedures to ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience racing SNAIL we are introducing the following Qualification Rules effective immediately.

These rules should be followed on Thursday night during official practice so we can test and adjust where necessary.

New Qually Rules

Upon entering prior to the first race of the night or upon having the room reset before the first race of the next combo, immediately drive to a spot beyond turn one that is well off the racing line and line up single file. The host will remain on pit road during this time.

Once the driver count has been verified, the host will give instructions to start qualifying and leave pit road to join in at the back of the line. Drivers should give 5 seconds between the driver in front of them leaving and when they start. Drivers should always keep an eye on the map. Do not take-off if another driver is approaching from behind on his hot lap.

Qually is not the race. If you get caught from behind on qually be kind enough not to block. Leave room for the driver to pass.

All drivers will complete an out lap and one hot lap for qualifying.

If, at any time during the out lap or the hot lap, a driver leaves the racing surface for any reason, they are to pull completely off the track and out of the way and wait for the qualifying session to end. They are not to attempt to re-enter the track for any reason.

Once drivers have completed their hot lap, they are to stop on the track far enough past the start finish line as to not be a distraction to anyone finishing a lap.

Once the host has completed his hot lap, he will check that no non-members have entered (kick as necessary) and start the race.

This can be modified for shorter tracks or to change from 5 seconds if deemed necessary.

Failure to comply with Qually Rules will result in a disqualification for that specific race.

Welcome light_of_the_son to D4 of SNAIL, hope to see everyone tonight.

That is post #114521 in the main snail thread from November 1, 2017.

What's the purpose of not allowing a driver to continue qualify if the driver goes off track?

I will not be racing tonight, because I'll be watching the Eagles FLY EAGLES FLY on the road to VICTORY. FINGERS CROSSED!

I asked myself the same thing and then read the OLR again. Was to busy looking for a crow first time. Rule makes sense. Damn this place is organized.

I'll be on tonight and I'll handle scorekeeping (assuming I get access to the spreadsheet on time).

And does anybody have access to the scoring spreadsheet? I was looking forward to doing it, but now I don't have access...

I'm not sure how this should be filed, but for R3R1, I called for a restart claiming that Light_of_the_son was frozen. I saved the replay for that race and, upon further review, I found out that was not true. They had also spun out at the line and I mistook that for a frozen driver. My apologies to everyone else possibly ruining a good run by forcing a do-over.

It's not a problem in my book but then again I might be more easy going then some.
I want to also apologize for the rough night. It was my first time as the DM.
