Post Race Report and Scoring
Event #5 at Road Atlanta

(in order of Season Standings after Event #5)
(both drop scores are counted toward Events 5-9)
Award Recognition
Checkered Flag = Single Race Wins
Track Map Outline = Overall Event Wins

Great race night in our Gr3 V8+ Supercars with 13 drivers on the grid and 1 driver that had to ground his car to the pits due to car issues (network connection issues). The lap times and racing were close across the grid fro both races. I had an up and down Race 1 but had a good recovery drive to finish in 4th. Race 2 started off with a good start, but some aggresive moves by attackers from behind had me slide 3 spots after 3 corners for the sake a race and car preservation. Once the race settled in, I went on the attack finding a good 1v1 battles with Cruchy and then Tee with Sand and Niagara attacking closely from behind. I found myself glancing in the rearview too many times at them and decided to focus on chasing down JDM. The power of that Mustang would not let me close on him in the straights, forcing me to lean in harder on the braking zones and corners. With two laps to go, 3 attackers on my bumper, and being close enough for an opportunity on JDM, I attempted to put a nose in going into the box before the back straight. Small contact was made, but everyone came out clean. On exit, I tucked back in behind JDM and gave him a nudge so we could clear Sand who now smelled blood in the water. I was able to carry enough speed with the close draft to hold with JDM to make and execute and clean move at the chicane. This opened up my escape from the attacking Sand, Niagara, and Duc as I know JDM is not an easy overtake. The last 10 laps of Race 2 from any one of our views is worth the watch. Epic multi-car battle....may be one of the most intense and best battles I've had in a long time. There are plenty of points in these races to highlight, so take a look at the replays...always worth the watch.
Race broadcasts will be made available for viewing, but you can also view the actual in-game replays through the search tag: snailv8sc. Feel free to elaborate on any battle/exchanges you may have shared.
Overall, it was a great night of racing.

Minimal lag/jittering was present across the field, but was overall manageable.

For any drivers that care to participate in displaying their Driver Standing for next event, please see the spoiler tab below for details. If in doubt, simply remove the numbers before the event. See the Spoiler tab below:
Driver Standings Recognition
Drivers will be encouraged, not required, to display their current driver standing going into each event after Event #1, though there will be a few rules and requirements.
Drivers who are interested in diplaying their current standing, should collect the following green digital numbers 0-9.
19298d4c15a5-screenshotUrl.jpg

After scoring is finalized and Post Race report issued, drivers will be cleared to edit their driver standing on their number board along with any award tags. Drivers should apply their Standing on both side's boards and be sure their number is in line with their actual standing in the Championship.
Should look like this:
19298d4a4df4-screenshotUrl.jpg

Rules and requirements:
To maintain accuracy and integrity to this recognition, drivers who choose to add their standing to their car will be required to submit an updated profile picture before each event with their scrutineering tuning sheet. Submissions will be reviewed post event just as I do for the driver regulations.
If a driver forgets to submit the car picture with a standing displayed or has the wrong standing placement displayed , it will result in a 5 point penalty against the overall event score. This has to be in place to ensure that those who want to display their standing, maintains the attention and accuracy for it to be credible.
If choosing to display, be sure your edited livery is correct, accurate, and saved prior to each event. If unsure or not interested in displaying your standing, simply leave it blank or just apply double zeros.
The profile pictures will not be used for the Driver profile page, only for scrutineering to maintain the integrity of this recognition.
Again, this is optional, but if done correctly, it will be a great way to know who is where in the standings as the season unfolds.

2026 Michelin Pilot V8+ SuperCars Challenge - Presented by SNAIL
Hosted by PSN: NOVA-0479

Event #5 - Road Atlanta
Friday June 26, 2026

Event #5 / Race #1 Recap

Event 5 Car Spot.webp

Preamble:
We move to the U.S. for the next two Events of our Series beginning with Event #5 at Road Atlanta which always lands on the schedule. The event was won by @bublyman in 2025 and by @Worst_Driver in 2024.

We've got 13 drivers confirmed for the Event. The changes to the grid from Event #4 are as follows:
A big welcome to @Smithy 1989 who is making his SNAIL Friday Series debut.

Qualifying Table:
Quali Table 1.webp

Quali Table 2.webp

I had a feeling the Pole Bonus was going to a Corvette, I just didn't know which one. Turns out @DublDee claimed it with a blistering 1:17.088 which will be the fastest lap put down during the Event.

It's a front row Corvette lock-out as @socalnatv has earned the right to be next to him. Row #2 will have @DRD_Niagara next to yet another Corvette, this one belonging to @radliffracing. @JakeMk8 and @Bologna_Duc are behind them in Row #3.

Event #5 / Race #1:

LAP #1:
It's Lights-Out in Atlanta. The Corvettes get off the line quickly and it looks like they're already 4-Wide in mid-grid as @llNovall and @Kgffy have already joined @JakeMk8 and @Bologna_Duc in the 3rd Row.
SHARE_20260701_0833430.webp

LAP #1:
Great clean job all around during the start. Pictured below if @radliffracing, in 5th, leading the mid-grid pack out of Turn 7 on the opening lap.
SHARE_20260701_0834140.webp

LAP #2:
The race is settling in. As I predicted, @DublDee and @socalnatv would be setting a fast pace from the get-go running 1-2. Just behind them, @DRD_Niagara and @Kgffy in 3rd and 4th have already exchanged positions a couple times. @radliffracing, @llNovall and @Bologna_Duc in 5th through 7th.
SHARE_20260701_0834370.webp

LAP #3:
We've had a few early mistakes. @CdnSweetTee exited the chicane on Lap #1 with a spin. There's a slight crest in the road upon entering sector #2 that can get tricky. It unsettles @Bologna_Duc Z4 and sends him into the wall hard. @JDMKING13 takes the position. @Bologna_Duc's error drops him from 7th to 12th.
SHARE_20260701_0834580.webp

LAP #6:
Chalk-up another position for @JDMKING13. The replay shows his Mustang is trying to kill him but he's keeping it on the track and that's enough for him to claim another spot as the crest in the road seems to have also claimed @llNovall on Lap #6. @llNovall would drop from 6th to 9th.
SHARE_20260701_0835190.webp

LAP #6:
If you don't get Turn 7 Atlanta correct, and the trailing car does, this Turn promotes flat out, pedal to the medal drag race action down the entire straight. The temperature is rising in @DublDee's cockpit but he's still hanging onto his lead.
SHARE_20260701_0835370.webp

LAP #8 - Lead Change:
A wide exit out of the esses on Lap #8 would have @DublDee slightly into the sand. The slipup would cost him his lead on the ensuing straight.
SHARE_20260701_0848300.webp

LAP #10:
Series newcomer and rookie @Smithy 1989 is doing quite well in his debut race sitting in 6th through 10 Laps. He's feeling the pressure and learning quickly why @llNovall's core group of drivers keep coming back to his series.
SHARE_20260701_0848500.webp

LAP #10:
@DublDee and @DRD_Niagara each made small errors in sector 2 on Lap #10 and were lucky to avoid disasters but @Kgffy seizes the opportunities and moves into 2nd place.
SHARE_20260701_0849080.webp

LAP #11:
The fight between @Kgffy, @DublDee and @DRD_Niagara was a lot of fun but the guy who is enjoying it the most is @socalnatv and he's built a good size gap for himself at the front.
SHARE_20260701_0849260.webp

LAP #13:
As we start Lap #13, @Kgffy slams him car into the wall but somehow keeps it straight but he drops a position to @DRD_Niagara.
SHARE_20260701_0849430.webp

LAP #16:
This pic shows the gap @socalnatv has built while the three behind him were fighting. This one is just about in the bag right?
RIGHT?
SHARE_20260701_0850000.webp

LAP #19 - Lead Change - OFF GOES SAND !
@socalnatv gets Turn 7 all wrong and puts himself into the wall. @DRD_Niagara, upon exiting Turn 7 can't believe his eyes as he powers himself past @socalnatv and into the lead.
SHARE_20260701_0850180.webp

LAP #23 - Lead Change:
I held @socalnatv off at the chicane a couple times by taking the inside line (Thanks for those practices @DublDee) but @socalnatv gets me on Lap #23. I would have loved to hang on for the win but going through this chicane in close quarters with @socalnatv, with any contact being made was also very rewarding.
SHARE_20260701_0850340.webp

Nicely Done Sir and always fun being on track with you.

LAP #24:
@socalnatv had to sweat more than he wanted in the end but he closes it off to win his 2nd race of the 2026 season. He's joined on the podium with @DRD_Niagara and @Kgffy.
SHARE_20260701_0850500.webp

@socalnatv also took him the Fastest Lap Bonus with an incredible 1:17.101. Almost a full, half-second faster than @DRD_Niagara 2nd F.L. of 1:17.568.

Final Event #5 / Race #1 Results Table:
Race 1 Results 1.webp

Race 1 Results 2.webp

Event #5 / Race #1 Broadcast:

A Retrospect - Sand and Atlanta Turn #7:
I thought I'd add this short walk down memory lane to this race recap as this race wasn't the first time @socalnatv got himself all twisted up exiting Turn #7 at Atlanta. And it seems I'm always the car behind him when it happens.

2023 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge - Event 6 / Race 1
On Lap #4, @socalnatv was running in 4th battling with the 3rd place car which I think was @JDMKING13 when he got himself twisted coming out of Turn #7 and slides across the track into the tire wall.
SHARE_20260701_1139330.webp

2024 Michelin Pilot Challenge - Event 1 / Race 1:
On Lap #22, @socalnatv was again running in 4th when his exit out of Turn #7 caused his Corvette to go for a spin.
SHARE_20241118_0930570.webp

2024 Michelin Pilot Challenge - Event 1 / Race 2:
Same Event but the following reverse grid race. Lap #3 - @socalnatv again got it wrong and spun into the wall on the right side of the track. He'd retire the car on this occasion.
SHARE_20241122_0447030.webp

2026 Michelin Pilot V8 Supercar Challenge - Event 5 / Race 1:
With close to a 10 second lead, @socalnatv got Turn #7 wrong once again late in the race on Lap 19. He loses his lead for a few Laps but manages to re-claim it late on Lap 23 of 24.
SHARE_20260701_1106150.webp

Being the guy doing these recaps for a few seasons, some patterns emerge that I can't help but notice and share. Took me awhile to dig these up but it's funny how many of us are still in this series years later and I know it goes back further than me.

Final Thoughts:
  • @socalnatv joins @bublyman and @Bologna_Duc as our only other multiple race winners this season. They've each won 2.
  • Wishing a Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canucks.
  • It's late, I'm outta here.
That's how I interpreted Event #5 / Race #1

Well sir, nobody can say that you are not thorough. Thanks for bringing back all those painful memories from the past seasons, showing my lack of success at that turn !!! Brutal. Keep your eyes on that turn in Race 2. You’ll see me try to throw it away again while chasing that viscous Viper.

As always, great work on the recap. Looking forward to R2.
