Sitting here in California and reading the list of changes in the new update, still no race saves for series and endurance events.. Does anybody have any idea what PDs' philosophy is on this matter? Why is it so bad to be able to save in between series races and to have a save option during long endurance races? I am one of the people who is never going to race an endurance event unless I can save. It has been nearly 25 years since I first played a "video" game (Apple IIe) so I have been around and playing games for a long time. I am now in th older generation of players yet I still play. Being older, I have a full time job, a wife, a two year old son and a miriad of responsibilities which make it nearly impossible to play an endurance race longer than two hours. I desperately want to race long endurance events but CANNOT. I will not leave my PS3 on for a month straight as it is bad for it (regardless of what others say) and I show videos to my son using it. PD is really dropping the ball here. I am a paying consumer who would be more inclined to purchase DLCs if I was actually able to fully enjoy my original purchase.

Since people are duping cars and whatnot, surely the limited possibilities for cheating in endurance races shouldnt deter them from implementing it.

Well I think it's not that easy to implement save during enduros as there are 11 other AI cars somewhere around the track!

And it would lose the meaning of endurance! But I would love to have my Bob as a second driver and you could let him drive 4 hours or so...

I don’t know how close Sony and DP are, but I’d bet (not with money mind) that Sony wouldn’t be upset if someone’s out of warranty PS3 died due to a endurance race necessitating the purchase of another one.

Your logic is flawed beyond belief. People use pause mode to rest or take a break, not to let the family watch TV.

Well I know thats its typical use but is there another way to take a break mid-championship or mid-endurance race? One that doesn't tie up the PS3?

I'd be happy if you can tell me how to do this.

I think the issue they have is the same as the one I have. If you add a save feature the endurance races become worthless.

The coffee machine at work is about 50 feet away. I go there several times a day and thinking about it, when you add all the time up, I probably did a very reasonably paced marathon. Is it comparable to someone who ran all that way in one go? Hell no.

Haha I'd bet Sony and PD would be very upset if they get sued by someone having medical problems after playing 24 hours...

+1

That's the whole point of an endurance race.

Still the A-Spec and B-Spec combination would be best as on 24 hours races the teams have more than one driver...

No there is not, but what has that got to with your comments about Sony, oh wait... I have already answered that.

Little by little PD are managing to fix this broken game, so maybe the next patch or the 4 after that will see the save feature introduced.

Amen to that one. "REAL" endurance races have more than one driver, so why not on GT5?

They put in something like this on GT4, but took it away for GT5. Why they did that is anyones guess !!!!

By leaving the endurance's as they are, IMHO will and is stopping lot's of people doing the 24H one's. They should realize that people have other responsibilities rather than play GT5 24/7.

And, important news coming up, in B-spec you can choose !!3!! drivers for the 24 hours, all the other endurances you get to choose 4 drivers.

So why make B-spec more realistic than A-spec? Why PD Why???

If you need to do a 9h race in one go, no one will stop you. But every normal person with real life want to save it in between.

And if you don´t know. Endurance races are driven with several drivers in one team. No driver completes a 9h race alone ;)

the 24hrs ones should have been at least savable or been merged with B-spec so that you aren't the only person responsible for driving 24hrs straight. Nobody in real life can drive 24hrs Le Mans or Nurburgring straight, and if PD are suggesting that you should be, then they are idiots because realistically you need to pause your PS3 at some stage during 24hr races, which means why not at least give an option for you to save, and to make it so that the only thing you can do when you restart console and GT, is the endurance race only?

That way it would help a lot of people save electricity which is wasted for no reason.

For other endurance races e.g. 9 hr Tsukuba, I am against saves. But 24hrs definitely shouldn't be what it is now.

Isn't the whole point of endurance exactly that? Where is the endurance part of being able to save it and walk away at your leisure?
People can already do that. All this would do is make it so your PS3 doesn't explode from it.

To be fair, the changes that we just received where most likely decided upon the day after the the last update. The feedback section came into being only a few weeks ago. Lets see how the next update corresponds to the feedback section before we make judgement on its effectiveness.

Exactly! The pause button is used to compensate for the lack of a save option.

The purest response to this inconvenient truth would be to disable the pause button. I'm sure the hard core would regard that as the preferred fix

For the rest of us I think its reasonable to keep asking for the save option. If PD can reliably limit car trading to one per day they can surely come up with a save option that doesn't allow repeated use of the same save file. Who benefits from not providing a save option?

Can I ask all those who are against a save function, how will this effect YOU. How will it effect YOUR game.

I don't enter races with overpowered cars but I don't care one bit if someone else does it. I want to experience some the features like real time/weather effects and tire wear but don't have time to the enduro races - why should I be denied.

I think PD just cant make all what u want at the same time, you have to be more patient. I know PD takes alot of time to create something, but when they make it its accually worth the wait!

Edit: Save feature in the middle of the race accually isnt that easy to create, there is something to think of for sure!

PS and I understand those who dont want this save feature (how would you feel? if you played GT 24 hours, half a week didnt turn out your ps3 etc.. that isnt easy (and then rest of the world just drives it with no problem).. but what can I say.. This feature had to be there from the beggining. This is a game.. and sitting in front of it for 24 hours is impossible and very bad to your health! and using a ps3 for a week running is just stupid (for not saving energy, for ps3 and for health)

It's annoying not able to save mid championship..many of time I've been forced to switch off during a championship but hopefully it will be fixed/added in a future update

I haven't tried A-Spec Endurance Races yet....so it's you and you only in these races??

Saving mid Endurance Race (what people are ranting about here) is not a good idea IMO.

As I said I haven't started any endurnace races yet...but if you can't use BOB's in endurance A-Spec races...than I'm going to be in for a long long session

Surely it must be possible to make a mid-race savepoint?

Something like this :
When you go in the pit for a save, Make the Ai come in too, the game should be able to remember the time/distance between the cars..

So, then when you load up your race, the cars could leave the pits at the remembered intervals.

Or something.

Even in GTR2 you could save mid-race (even with 40 opponents or so in the Spa 24 hour race). And that game was made with a much lower budget than Gran Turismo 5.
Saving mid-race should be doable by these developers..

Not being able to save mid championship is not a problem for the shorter races, but 6 x 20 laps for FGT!!!!!

I've been going through them one at a time as individual races to get the practice in and that's frustrating enough. Half way round the last lap at Monza I was leading and a little twitch resulted in a slight off that sent me to the back of the queue. Fair enough, I suppose, this thing can happen in real life, but in real life, F1 drivers get a week or two off between races to recover!

I guess if you allowed saves, people would revert to previous saved games every time they screwed up in a race. I know I would have, given the Monza incident!

Thats easily fixable though. They just need to make it so the save automatically deletes itself once it's loaded.

I would also like to see the ability to save at pit stops during endurance races. Even if it meant the only thing I could do in GT5 next time I turned it on, was continue with that race.
