So after all these hours playing, what's your fave handling car?

MR2 turbo and the BMW 2002 Turbo. They are both awesome cars with nice progressive oversteer, which suits my driving style. The G60(?) that only has 90ps is pretty sweet. For a car that seems low on power, it handles great although its pretty twitchy. Driving that thing on the Ring w/o TCS is HARD.

EDIT: anybody know what I can do to cure that initial understeer on the Subie WRXs? I have a Spec C and I can't stand how it initially understeers when I turn in. Will rear biasing the power help out get some oversteer?

No one tried the DB9?

The DB9 was the first serious car that I purchased. Slightly ponderous handling with a tendency to understeer. Quite different from the Vanquish in GT3.

Incidentally, the Cerbera has a little more body roll than the T350C and the Tuscan. Great fun nonetheless.

Cerbs handling doesn't surprise me after all it is the S6 which is softer than the 4.2 and 4.5. I expect with a bit of tweaking the DB9 should be better too. Tried the S-type R yet?

I have yet to purchase a saloon.

My bewinged pretend S2 Exige handles as it should…

Did you have GTC? if so you would find that in that game the Jag had terrible lift off oversteer. The real car for such a heavy old bird has really good handling not like GTC at all.
Have you driven an Exige? if so, lucky man.:)

M3 CSL and M5 without any modifications = super fast and lots of fun to drive. But they are too good to be real... Maybe PD has a soft spot for BMWs!

I bought a VCD and set the power to the rear, and also followed this to setup the LSDs.

cant you just configure the Differentials to get rid of too much lift off oversteer?

You can increase the LSD deceleration to help prevent lift off oversteer, but it will hurt turning in capabilities too.

I agree. Some cars sound REALLY (I mean orgasmically) good (Skyline N1, Audi A3)...but other sound tinny and lame, like the RGT and M3 - though a sport muffler helps both sound wise.

I'm wondering if that means the Golf R32 and the TT 3.2 sound just as good, since they share the A3's engine. Come to think of it, the Beetle RSi should too.

I hope the Vanquish sounds just as good as it used to. Also, has anybody driven the Audi Le Mans concept? I'm curious as to what it sounds like, since it is pretty much a twinturbo Lambo engine.

FF - Mini Cooper S - I love this car, lol, not amazingly fast, doesn't handle like a dream, but it's just so fun to drive!

FF - Honda Prelude Si Vtec '91 - Love this, I own one in real life, and I own two in GT4. One is close to what mine is, from drop, to engine, etc. The other is a beast of an NA monster for a Prelude, lol.

The BP RX-7 (D1GP) ROCKS YOUR SOCKS!!! SO freaking hard to drive without assists, lol, well, that's because it slides SO NICELY. This is the car I am going to learn to drift with in GT4, it's TOO fun.

Other than that, I have so many favorites it's rediculous. This game is a blast just to drive around all the different cars.

The real car has very good handling so this should be reflected in the game, therefore in this instance adjustment shouldn't be necessary.

i dont think the viper has bad handling... it just requires you to be a bit more agressive. Im sure if you took time to get used to shifting weight you would understand. Its not as easy to drive as an elise. but in my opinion its more fun. :)

Kensei -

I would harldy say that the RGT is bomber stable through the corners - straights yes - corners no. (I presume you are playing without TCS and ASM - as that changes everything.)

All 911's (among which we can count the RGT), both in real life and in a good simulation, suffer from the physical reality that the center of mass is near the rear axle due to the rear engine configuration, giving them a weight distribution of something like 40/60 Front/Rear. As a result, once the car begins to oversteer, all of that mass keeps going in a straight line, giving 911's the reputation of being easy to lose and hard to catch in a fast corner. In real life, PSM handles most of that, as does ASM in the game - as long as you use it. If you don't, you have to avoid abrubt throttle lift so that the rear of the car doesn't stand up, unweight the back tires, and make the stick go away. I think that GT4 and the new physics engine simulate this very well, and it only makes the car more fun and challenging to drive well. My point in all of this is that it is very hard to call an RGT, or any 911, super stable through the corners, particularly when compared to cars with a 50/50 weight distribution and a MR configuration. 911s are by far my favorite car none the less - and I really wish the game included them.

By the way - you probably know all of this already - so no offense intended.

Glad to find another Porsche fan here. Yes I know all this. But the RGT is stable to me. Maybe since I've driven it so much, literally 3 solid years in GT3 and in GT4 it doesn't feel much different. I love it as much because I can control the rear into corners, with the throttle or brake. I can tweak the apexes with the car and controled drift with no issue.

Comparing a 911 to a MR car as far as stability is a no can do I agree.

The 996 is very stable compared to the older bodies used on the BRT and CTR. Try either of those cars and I'll agree with everything you said about the RGT about either one of them.

haha just took a supercharged '67 Camaro to the Camaro El Capitan race :D

Speaking of El Capitan. I love the circuit. PD really outdid themselves on this one. It is the only "new" original circuit I really like (besides the rally ones).

The Audi R8 around it is just amazing, as is almost any car.

I'm having a brain fart on this one but were is the real "El Capitan"? Is it in Yosemitie (sp?) or is it in the Sierras in CA/NV?

I can't wait for GT4. The wait is going to kill me, I know it.

Can anyone confirm...you can take any car and drive it on any circuit? On GT3 you only had Run & Settings with only roughly six tracks to be let loose on?

Nobody has mentioned the Lotus Elan S2 yet? Stock, it is an amazing handler. Fully modded, with 200 NA HP, it totally embarrases an awful lot of cars in the game. The killer is, that unlike the Ginetta, the Elan is still a sweetheart, even with all that power in a lightweight car. Probably why the car has always been so successful in SCCA Solo competition. It is the car a Miata wants to be...

Along similar lines, but not quite as good, IMO, is the Suzuki Cappuccino.

I've also gotten some mileage out of the TVR T350C. Very nice all-around performer.

Almost forgot one of my other faves, the RX-7 Bathurst R...

(Could you tell I'm an FR fan? ;) )

In GT mode, you can use any of the tracks for testing purposes.

In GT3 you could also go into Arcade Mode and use "free run" and run unlimited laps of any circuit with the cars from your Sim. garage. In fact you could run any Arcade mode race with the cars from your own sim garage. You knew that right?

The Ruf BTR sucks major ass - Fun - YES!.... Usable - No friggin' way !...

I LOVE that car !...
Yep, thats what I meant by great to drive, not that great to race in but great to drive.

El Capitan is in Yosemite, CA.

My favorites change every couple of days. First it was the Ginetta G4, then the Lotus Carlton, then the S2000. Last night it was the EVO IV. WOW!

M5 is the best handling car for the ride!but in actual drive by wire i cant tell if the car really can driven by that upgrade and modification.any idea of BMW M5?
