Gold is possible with the DS3, took me awhile to learn the track and handle the sheer speed of the X2010.
My advice to anyone attempting to gold this challenge is analyse videos of people who've achieved gold legitimately. Look for markers on side of track as braking points. Use sector times as a guide, try to break the circuit down in stages in your mind. Like the AMG event, you have to complete the Nurburgring in 4 separate stages before given the whole circuit to complete. Apply the same method to Monza, Nurburgring & Suzuka.
Learn and anticipate the bends before you reach them so you're always thinking slightly ahead as you're driving. This way you're already prepared and technically, have the car positioned to take it at speed.
Turn the ghost car off it's too distracting. I'd even go further to say turn off some of the instrument displays.
On Suzuka I found using the directional buttons gave me "full steering lock" instead of the analogue stick. Possibly due to me turning so fast with the stick it was moving diagonally instead of straight across.
Experiment with ABS settings. On the Nurburgring I found the quickest way to take some of the bends was by almost throwing the car into a bend full steering lock whilst braking heavily at the same time then accelerating out. Using ABS 7.
But complete constrast in techniques for Suzuka, I set ABS to 1 so you maximise braking before you enter the bend then turn and accelerate full speed on exit.
Above all, attempt the X1 Challenge when it feels right for you, there's no obligation to do it, just simply enjoy driving the 3 different circuits and I guarantee with practice your times will improve.
You are certainly no idiot if you can't complete this event. I personally found the X1 Challenge the hardest event in the entire Gran Turismo series! There's plenty of helpful people on here who are only too happy to help anyone who is trying to complete gold with the DS3 in this event. Goodluck
