This used to happen to me, but then I stopped trying to form a conversation in my head and just talked. It really helped.

really? cause i always thinks up everything in my head before i say something.

It depends on where I am. I have a musical ear, and so if I'm in the south I will start to pick up a southern accent, if I'm in CA, I will start to pick up a californian accent, etc. but, mainly I have the new england accent; talking quickly, forgetting a few of the "r"s, and I do tend to say "like" more than should be alotted (not as much as I say "uh" but that's a different story).

You don't have to be around anyone from any length great of time to start picking up an accent... I met a Scotsman and group of Irish people in the summer, just for a week, and started hinting an accent within an hour of any conversation.

Attila, if you're from Massachusetts then believe me, you do have an accent, if you speak the same way as the people from Massachusetts that I met. Very strong accent. Espically (sp) saying 'coleslaw'.

I think it's probably just the way you grow up; you think your accent is normal (or you don't have one) because you've spoken it all your life. I don't think I have an accent, and I try not to say 'like'.

Slight mainer accent. And no its nothing like a boston accent.

like spelling translaitons

kah=car
habah=harbor
lobstah=lobster
ayuh=yup, or yes.

Do you really feel like starting this? I don't feel like pulling authority over you, so how about you just be a good boy instead.

Alright big ol' Mr. Moderator man. I don't need you to pull out the big authority badge on me. I'll just go back to posting on topic and stuff, like you said. I mean, I should be doing that right, I mean, that's what you're supposed to do. Or, what I'm supposed to do because you said. Wait, this isn't on topic. I just scewed up again.

:odd:

Ok, I get it. Me stop now.

:lol: but anyways in in real life i'm quite the sweet talker:sly: i think it might be because i try to find some hummor in everything from sex to death. makes things much easier for me, but i'm best with cops and girls i already have "ground work" liad down with and putt'n the ground work down usually takes less then 10 min. so when you hear that cute, saggy haired, guy with sideburns and a goatee is sweet talk'n your girl you'll know its already too late cuz special k's on it:p

Ummm, OK, sure pal. Based on this last post, I think that "cute saggy haired guy with sideburns" would be in for a serious dent in his manly pride if he ever tried chatting up my girl. I'd just sit back and watch her devastate him, and laugh while he begged her for mercy...

I say like quite a bit and have a northern accent for some obvious reasons. I prounounce "water" as "warter." Just one example. And I'm a bit more goofy but still incredibly biased politically and educationally. I also talk like a skater for more obvious reasons.

More or less the same as I do here...just with more swearing.

I know this kid at my school who has a major swearing problem. He swears because he thinks he's funny, but it just sounds really dumb.

I talk conservatively and old, several times I've had people mistake me for being an old man.

My voice changes, but relaxed I sound like an odd cross between George Will and Henry Kissinger.

very strong accent? hmm. i say "cat" c-a-t and "dog" d-o-g, "them" e-m. i don't really use the word like alot. but i would not consider the Masshole accent "strong"

Mr. P. and Lotus350 have heard my voice. Ask them if they can and would describe it and the manner I talk in.

If you don't consider a Mass. accent strong, then you yourself must have a very strong Mass. accent.
hmm, maybe i see it as very weak cause its just how i talked my whole life. but whats so strong about it then?
