Woke up at 6 am to go for a surf. Got to the beach around 7:30 am thanks to the morning rush hour. I have to say it was the most interesting surf session I've ever had. It was a big day, 6 foot wave faces just rolling in non stop. I paddled past the breaking waves and while just sitting out there I spotted a small shark, possibly a juvenile, it was only around 3-4 feet long. After about an hour of surfing I noticed a large splash around 400 metres away from where I was sitting, and then I just saw this massive 30 ft+ humpback whale breach out of the water! Judging by the size of the humpback that accompanied the breaching one I'm guessing it was a mother and its calf, it was a sight to behold. Further away from them were another group of whales as well, I could see them surfacing to breath but I couldn't make out what kind of whale it was. Oh, also there were tons of blue bottles floating around and also washed up at the beach, how I managed to not get stung baffles me, consider it a lucky day then! Quite a day for me, the waves weren't too good but definitely seeing the whales made my day.
