so i have spent the last hour and twenty minutes playing Grand Valley 300km endurance race.

I am on lap 50 and have a 10 lap lead in my Toyota Minolta.

my parents say that i have to come up for dinner and i have heard that you could save during an endurance race, and finish it later. i haven't noticed any where to save during a pit stop so i just quit race "thinking that it will save for me and i will be able to come back to the race to finish lap 51"

i than click quit!
it doesn't ask me "are you sure you want to quit" or "would you like to save"
it just quits and i don't get anything for the past hour and twenty min of driving! wtf

can someone please tell me the correct way to save during an endurance race...

there is no way that the only way to complete these endurance races is to play for 4 hours, or even 24 hours straight!

are you trolling? there's this thing called the PAUSE button, check it out sometime.

but i want to turn off my ps3!
why would i just leave my ps3 on for hours and hours while i am not playing it

Try it, its worse when its a B-spec race. NO PAUSE!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would you be eating dinner for hours and hours?

Ya it's on PD's long "todo list"

That's what British Columbian normally do. They're very civilized and proper.

Saving during a race is impossible.

pause it, bro. i remember the snes days when my donkey kong game had a faulty battery. i had to pause it for hours and hours and keep playing until the end.

Saving during a race is impossible.

The guys that made "Le Mans 24 hours" must have a patent on that feature and are holding it hostage.

And just because I hear it said around here alot as a concern... There is nothing wrong with keeping your PS3 on for an extended period of time.

The YLOD is caused by temperature fluctuations from turning it off and on over time, not leaving it on. There are people who have left them on for months and they didn't explode or anything.

They really need to fix that. 24 hour racing for the average person who is not a Le Mans racer is while not impossible, it's impractical.

My wishlist for an update is to be able to save in pit lanes. I left my PS2 on for a day straight so I can finish that Nurb 24 hour thing. I was afraid it was gonna burn out(slim ps2). But thank God for giving us humans existence so the guy who thought up B-Spec could be born.

Dude there is a reason it's called an ENDURANCE race.... do you think that in real life they just decide after an hour that they want to save their progress and come back tomorrow???? hahaha you guys make me laugh.... you want realism but you also want the ability to pause that realism when it suits...
Like someone already said... if you're so inclined to "cheat" in the endurance racing then by all means pause the race... otherwise do as the race intended and play all the way through..... as for "quitting" during the race and expecting that it would save your progress??? ahahaha that is hilarious! :sly:

I've had my PS3 on for over two years now (running F@H) with only restarts for updates. Nothing wrong with leaving on, except the power bill.

good to know

Not for endurance but we need what GT4 had to save progress and leave a championship

That's fine saying that but also those racers, it's their life. If we want it to be realistic then we shouldn't be able to have so many cars in one garage or so. I don't mind pausing to go to bed or whatever though.

A save feature would have been a good addition to the 'game' though as it would have made the endurance races more doable, or a way to save your progress and only be allowed to carry on when you turn the PS back on or whatever.

Problem is that for pros, it's their career. For us it's a hobby, and most people dont have the time to finish it all in one day. Ya we want the game to be realistic, but at the same time, we gotta be well.. Realistic..

Just as in real life Kaz has included "endurance" racing to test the level of endurance for video game players.... if you cannot handle the endurance events the answer is simple really..... stick to 5 lap championships... honestly what is the point of playing an endurance race if you do not plan to endure... in my eyes that is not played in the spirit of what the maker intended... we could debate this forever and a day but clearly he did not create endurance races so that ppl could do a bit at a time... that defeats the whole purpose and more or less proves that those ppl are only interested in the gifts that are received at the end of the race... i think that gift should be earned!

We were talking about Gran Turismo 5.

Turn on ps3 24h is very risk to get the YLOD. :nervous:

i guess this means i will never be completing the 24 hour race

Do it once you get the X1... I'm guessing you'll still need to do 14-15 hours, but the rest you can leave your car parked.

This post is terrible. You lose nothing from other people saving in the middle of an endurance race. If you want to sit down and mash a controller for hours fine. Others may not. Contrary to believe, it won't make you ill, drain your bank account, or get you fired.

Its a VIDEO GAME.

Name a video game that has a 24 hour mission that doesn't allow you to at some point save. Saving isn't cheating ffs, and so what if it was?

/facepalm x10000

I do it all the time while downloading or playing while intoxicated(pass out).

lol no way I'm sitting 24hrs straight unless I'm being payed real money. Some people want to take the test, other's just want to win those million credits to get the car they want and only care about the racing online. It gets boring once you realize you overlapped all the braindead bots who simply just cruise the track.. eh.. It's actually a lonely feeling.. :nervous:

I'll probly sit through some races, but 24hours? I'll leave that to my driver, but even then, I just lost a PS3, dont want to risk my future PS3.

In real life, endurance racers swap around with partners after a while; they don't do the whole race themselves for 24 hours

If Gran Turismo allowed us to swap around with our B-spec drivers, the OP could of had his dinner :)

plus the fact that 24 hour races aren't done by 1 person in the driver seat for the whole 24 hours. they're usually 3 drivers working in shifts of a few hours at a time each..
