It's you're own fault for quitting and assuming it would just save for you...You should be much more informed about how this game runs having played so much that you unlocked endurance races.

FAIL!

I think it would be very nice if you could save in the pits or switch to B spec as said above. Problem is that would sense, and PD isn't real good at that. :)

Lol, kids.

Problem is that for pros, it's their career. For us it's a hobby, and most people dont have the time to finish it all in one day. Ya we want the game to be realistic, but at the same time, we gotta be well.. Realistic..

not even pros race 24 hours straight. they do it in stints. They never spend more than 4-6 hours behind the wheel at a time

Drove cross country before, cant imagine driving 24hrs straight at 220MPH where the wrong move can make u lose everything..

I've had my PS3 on for over two years now (running F@H) with only restarts for updates. Nothing wrong with leaving on, except the power bill.

This only practical if you live in a mild climate and if your area is not prone to severe thunderstorms.

The world is a large and varied place - and as such there are many varying circumstances people find themselves in.

I can only hope that Karma comes to visit all the wisecrackers while they try their hand at one of the 24 hour races and for waht ever rerason they are forced to step away from the PS3 at 23h35m and their entire effort is wasted.

Not being able to save an endurance race game is not only stupid and short sighted, it is pure ignorance on PD's part.

The GAME needs to revolve around the players LIFE, not viceversa.

I think we should be able to pause the game during endurance races but not save it. I did the nurburgring 24hr race in GT4 over a long weekend. I took my ps2 to work with me (so I did get paid for it lol) and did 8 hrs a day for 3 days in a bug eye'd wrx rally car. I did a couple of the shorter races (8hrs twice, 12hrs once) at home as well. If you can't sit down for 24hrs straight or can't put in 6,7,8 hrs a day for 2 or 3 days then you just don't want it enough. We should be able to swap over to a b spec driver though.

I remember my first endurance race. It was the grand valley 300 in GT1 or 2. Me and a mate did 10 laps each for the 60 laps, don't remember the car though, something mid-engined.

You should be angry at yourself, not the game. Expecting the game to something you want it too isn't going to make it happen. Just because I think my Fridge will stay shut when I leave my house doesn't mean it will.

Think about it more logically next time.

Try it, its worse when its a B-spec race. NO PAUSE!!!!!!!!!!!

B-spec is what I like to call time for a piss and a crap mode since it allows you to do such things and still race :p, b-spec was obviously created for people with bladder problems obviously lol

plus the fact that 24 hour races aren't done by 1 person in the driver seat for the whole 24 hours. they're usually 3 drivers working in shifts of a few hours at a time each..

Many drivers in the past have "one-manned" the 24hrs of Le Mans including Eddie Hall.

Thats ridiculous.

If my fridge opened when i expect it to stay shut, i'll buy a new, different fridge.

If my video game forces me to commit large amounts of time but gives me no solution to managing that time, ill buy a new game that does.

User input changes things to make them work better.
People don't design themselves around things, we design things around people. Your logic is backwards.

FAIL!'

You're a colossal moron. He had every right to think that there could be an exception made for endurance races. If pausing is ok then some form of saving should be fine too (perhaps it only lets you reload it once, something like that) - the difference need only be that leaving the machine on paused is a waste of electricity and stops other people from using the ps3 for something else.

If one wants the most realistic type of endurance then even pausing should be forbidden but I feel sorry for someone who has the time (or lack of other things to do) to sit at a video game for a whole day doing this.

24 hr le mans you have 3 or 4 pilots. its not a 24h race for one guy.
the meth addicts around the corner could run a 24h straight race if they only had cars.

and quit saying this is a simulator, when its not.

this is a very realistic game in some key points, like driving ability and physics, but not a simulator at all.

Dude there is a reason it's called an ENDURANCE race.... do you think that in real life they just decide after an hour that they want to save their progress and come back tomorrow????

In all this real 24 hours races drivers drive 2 hours shifts

The thought of staring at my 19" tv for 24 straight hours, with my wheel attached to a dining room chair and my 'race seat' being the corner of my mattress that extends beyond the bed frame actually makes me want to vomit. Id be more likely to survive 24 hours of Le Mans in a 900HP beast than in my ghetto setup.

Call the pause button cheating, but ask yourself how realistic it is to be on lap 100, driving down mulsanne at 230mph, spread-eagled on your couch, one hand on the wheel and the other shoving some chips or a sandwich down your throat, haha

For those of you that have done a B-spec endurance race, do we have to manually swap between drivers when one gets tired or needs to pit or do they do it automatically?
I you have to manually do it I can't see ever completing the 24 hour races as you would have to baby sit them with no ability to pause the game.

Like someone already said... if you're so inclined to "cheat" in the endurance racing then by all means pause the race... otherwise do as the race intended and play all the way through..... as for "quitting" during the race and expecting that it would save your progress??? ahahaha that is hilarious! :sly:

That's what I use to do in GT4. When it got late at night, I just paused and came back the next day and picked up where I left off.

LOL...At this Thread.

Its a VIDEO GAME.

Name a video game that has a 24 hour mission that doesn't allow you to at some point save. Saving isn't cheating ffs, and so what if it was?

/facepalm x10000

Rock band 2 had the Endless Setlist challenge, where you had to play all 84 songs in order.... More if you imported RB1 songs or DLC!

If you wanted the "Steel bladder" trophy you would have to accomplish this without EVER pausing the game once!

While this is not 24 hours, it is still just as extreme... If you fail a song you have to restart!!!

I went to go to the menu 110 laps into the Indy 500 -I wanted to switch to extra zoom!- and clicked 'restart' on accident... I haven't played A-spec since

It automatically switches to the next driver in the list. When you enter the pit, you have the following options in B-Spec:
  • Driver
  • Front/Rear Tires
  • Fuel
You have a feature called Auto-Pit under Pit Strategy. I usually have it set to 10% and they won't pit until their Physical and Mental strength have run out. If you have it set to Off, they won't pit until tires are worn out or when they need fuel.

That was a terrible analogy by me. Sorry, this is better.

'Insert better analogy here'

A save option at the time of a driver change makes sense. That's FAR more realistic than upgrading the ECU in my '63 Alpha :ouch:

You're mad at GT 'cause you quit it.... i see, so i can be mad at Karl Marx because my chicken is worth 2 rolls of duct tape????? Seee! It DOSN'T MAKE SENSE.
deal with it, you were probably corner cutting and bumping anyway.

but i want to turn off my ps3!
why would i just leave my ps3 on for hours and hours while i am not playing it

Unfortunately this is what you must do if you don't want b-spec driving for you. Since KY didn't manage to include the save endurance like the E3 interview several months ago indicated, pause is your only savior.

24 hours straight of staring at a screen? Leaving it paused and wasting in electricity? 👎

GT4 was great, do 10 laps so you're way ahead, take a pit stop, and opt to switch to b-spec mode. 👍

Wait....Why won't your fridge stay shut? Does it throw up and spew your groceries onto your kitchen floor?
Back on topic: A save feature for both championships and endurance races would be nice and for those who do not like the idea.....you do not have to use it.

My fridge is fine. :p

When thinking of an analogy I failed and resulted in one that didn't have the desired effect.

Thanks Centura for this info:tup:

I'm working my way to level 25 and was wondering about the various pit options available.

Another question: Can you change the Pit Strategy during the race? From 10% to 50% or whatever?

Respectfully,
GTsail

That's ridiculous. Even worse, you contradict yourself. It's not OK to take a break by saving, but it's OK to take a break by letting the AI drive?

Want? Want what? It has nothing to do with want. A person can do absolutely anything they want as long it does not effect others against their will. Someday, this piece of common sense might just be common.
