Dude there is a reason it's called an ENDURANCE race.... do you think that in real life they just decide after an hour that they want to save their progress and come back tomorrow???? hahaha you guys make me laugh.... you want realism but you also want the ability to pause that realism when it suits...
Like someone already said... if you're so inclined to "cheat" in the endurance racing then by all means pause the race... otherwise do as the race intended and play all the way through..... as for "quitting" during the race and expecting that it would save your progress??? ahahaha that is hilarious! :sly:

No, in real life you don't drive for 24 hours in these races, there's a 3 man team that share driving duties, so GT5 endurance races are far from realistic anyway.

`It's you are own fault for quitting and assuming it would just save for you...You should be much more informed about how this game runs having played so much that you unlocked endurance races.

FAIL!'

You're a colossal moron. He had every right to think that there could be an exception made for endurance races. If pausing is ok then some form of saving should be fine too (perhaps it only lets you reload it once, something like that) - the difference need only be that leaving the machine on paused is a waste of electricity and stops other people from using the ps3 for something else.

If one wants the most realistic type of endurance then even pausing should be forbidden but I feel sorry for someone who has the time (or lack of other things to do) to sit at a video game for a whole day doing this.

I'm not arguing about whether we should be able to save or not during an endurance race...It's still his fault that he assumed it would just save when he pressed quit, especially since the game doesn't save your progress for any other race if you quit right in the middle of it. Total lack of common sense with regards to what he already should have known and everyone else does.

You, sir, are the colossal moron.

:idea:The only way to make it realistic would be to invite a few fellow drivers over so that shifts could be taken.

Realistic?

PD defines the rules of the GT5 races, not any official governing body.

So right there it's unrealistic anyway,

Okay, so they want us to pull through an endurance race to make it realistic. At the same time, this is pretty impractical in real life. So besides enabling to have our B-Spec drivers join us for the endurance events (which would also give bringing up a number of good drivers more sense), why don't they simply offer us a fixed number of gamesaves for each endurance event?

Say you're facing a 24h event, and they give us 5 gamesaves. You can use them whenever you want, but only these 5 you have. You could do six stints of 4h each, or maybe one large one of 8h at the beginning and then smaller ones later on. Everyone would get what he wants: they get us to sit through the races in endurance-like stints, and we get to save the game and resume it later.

Thanks Centura for this info:tup:

I'm working my way to level 25 and was wondering about the various pit options available.

Another question: Can you change the Pit Strategy during the race? From 10% to 50% or whatever?

Respectfully,
GTsail

Yes.

It's not OK to take a break by saving, but it's OK to take a break by letting the AI drive?

In the real world you can't pause a race but you can step aside mid race and allow someone else into the drivers seat.

The endurance races in GT5 don't test us the same way they would if we were doing it for real so I think its fair enough for it to test us in other ways, i.e doing the whole thing yourself. If people don't like it they don't have to partake :)

wait, i don't think we have a problem doing the whole thing ourselves. we have a problem doing the whole thing for 24 hours straight. it's unrealistic, insane and practically impossible, unless you have a colostomy bag attached to your urinary tract, liquefied nutrients, your own tv, your own ps3, 2 bags of methamphetamine and no social life whatsoever.

If people don't like it they don't have to partake :)

that's a good argument, you can use it for nearly everything when you don't have other arguments.

Here's the reason why a 24 hour race is stupid in a video game, leaving aside all the realistic/unrealistic crap arguments. A lot of (probably most) people who play GT5 either work or go to school, so this rules out weekdays for doing these races, the weekend is the only time possible to do them and most people have a social life so it pretty much rules out the weekend as well. Why should people be unable to 100% complete the game because it's impossible for them to spend an entire day playing on a games console? If it doesn't have a save function these 24 hour races are useless for most people.

Discussed to death. Doesn't need resurrecting and discussing to death again just because someone thought the game would do something - based on no information - and proceeding on that assumption:

i have heard that you could save during an endurance race ... i just quit race "thinking that it will save for me and i will be able to come back to the race to finish lap 51"

In other news, there's quite a few people posting in here who need to look at the AUP again. One of whom will be looking at it again while they are unable to post from their account for two weeks.
