There's already 2-3 street legal GTR1s out there. Strange they want to start production on a decade old car again.

What about the stillborn Abruzzi?

Pretty sure that was planned just after the Esperante was killed off about 2008? Also, perhaps this is Dons way of burning up money he might have made from the merger?

Best to my knowledge, the economy downturn in 2008 basically sunk Panoz's road car business. I'm surprised that there restarting the brand to say the least.

I'm with McLaren on why they offering road car versions of their 2 well known race cars from 15 years ago.

In fairness, its not the way you guys think it is:

We will be producing all these cars, on a one-off customer basis, for the street

In other words, they are basically doing a specialty car production and not mass production. If a 60 year old design like the Cobra is still being made (not counting the Kit cars nor the replicas mind you), then why not a 10 year old design?

Also, why oh why did they go from a brilliant design like the Esperante to that Abruzzi? That is the ugliest thing I've seen, it surpasses the Aztek in the "holy 🤬, that's ugly" category.
