Actually, I just bought a pair of novelty boxers to surprise her. Normally, I don't go down the novelty boxer route, but I saw a pair that had the alien from Toy Story on them and she loves the alien from Toy Story.

I personally have never gotten Valentine's Day, why should you need a specified day to do something special for the one you love? Not to mention there is nothing you can do that isn't extremely cliche.

As for me, I won't be lonely, I'll be at work all night, yay retail!!!!

I spent the whole day eating Ben and Jerry's screaming Adele songs to my cats, roll on next year!!

But seriously, wasn't out, but got a text. :)

Announcer at a local Toronto radio station just informed me that a poll taken downtown resulted in showing that 75% of the respondents who were SINGLE said they were happy being single - especially today because of the related lack of stress!

Valentine's day is really big here in Canada - as is Father's Day, Mother's Day, and so on. In fact this coming Monday - 20th of February - is Family Day, though only three Provinces in the country give the kids and parents the day off from school and work.

Fully a month before Valentine's day, the premium stores are stocked with hearts in every form and function - from chocolates to lingerie to body pillows. The 'love/romance' schtick starts heating up a week before - every retail flyer that is delivered to the door is covered in hearts and flowers. Kind of like Christmas but it isn't Santa wearing red this time around! Not only are huge amounts of flowers and chocolates bought, but gifts are galore - not just for one's sweetheart, but pretty much anybody close - lots of people give flowers, gifts, chocolates and/or cards to their Mom or Grandad or Best Friend.
It's more like Happy Love Day! instead of Valentine's. That's actually the phrase this jockey I'm listening to right now is trending: he keeps saying : "Happy LOVE Day!"

That probably involves the saint concerned, anyway.

Happy Valentine's Day, Folks! Love you guys, and gals, here.

Yep, alone.

Oh, wait. It's really not that depressing considering this is far from the first time.

I have a girlfriend of 4 and a half years. Not a stress whatsoever with us although I did spend a good chunk of money this year, I am in no way obligated to though.

Just spent the morning with her and now off to work until 8 pm tonight so our valentine's day is tomorrow.

Girlfriend's far way, so it will be dinner and a night out with single friends (or in the same condition as me).

The best way to celebrate the cheesy valentine's day with your better half is just to stay home anyway.

Girlfriend of over 5 years, I don't see the addiction with Valentine's day... to me it is just February 14th.

None the less, for 1 day a year, convention dictates that I show her why we are seeing each other. This year in particular, she has been recently made redundant and job hunting, so I went overboard and got her a Wii and stuff for it. Got her a card as well with a well thought out message.

The final piece is the day itself. Its my college day, but being half term I'm at home, doing assignments. Decide that I need to work on them until 6, but then we can have the evening.

Yup, its been another failure again! 👍

Actually still waiting for her to let me know if she is even going to see me or not. She is upset as I didn't want to book a restaurant (wasn't sure what time I'd be done with assignments, packed with couples and not my idea of fun, expensive for someone who has just moved out) and thought a takeaway or my attempt at cooking would be fine. After all, the main thing is that you spend time with your loved ones!

Yeah, happy 🤬 valentine's everyone!

Alone again this year.👍

This will be my 6th year.It seems the older i get the less i care about being alone on this day. It's just another day for me and lucky for me i was off work today.Keeps me from having to hear all of the crap that this day brings.

Such a lonely day, and it's mine. The most loneliest day of my life...

Who's awesome? YOU'RE AWESOME!

I'm in a relationship but personally I couldn't give a crap about Valentines. My g/f is sat across the room from me being a stroppy madam because I told her that 14th/15th Feb is a hockey night.

On any other day we are very happy together, but tonight she is 'off' with me just because people wanting to make money have told her and shown her that I should be spending extra money and time on/with her today. 👎

You're doing it wrong.

👍 Awesome

In school, there was a lot of gifting and candy action, which angered the admins. Gifts like teddy bears, box of chocolates, etc. was given out. For me, I received a bag of candy from my Spanish teacher (she loved all of her students). But in Homeroom, a rose was delivered... to me, and I thought there wasn't any anonymous deliveries, esp. in-class! It made me really blush, and wondered who it came from. Which in turn, I cracked it in two. So I carried both pieces taped on the rose itself for the rest of the day, hanging out of my backpack so it wouldn't suffocate -- I cushioned it as well. Throughout the day, it made me really paranoid and made me wondered. Most of the thoughts targeted my crush, and made me want to leave school as soon as possible. The periods went by quite slowly, and I couldn't focus on much. The funny thing was that no one asked about it, or spotted it. So I just kept quiet about this entire thing, and kept the events to myself and my family.

I placed the rose in a cup filled with water near the sunny window sill so it could flourish again, luckily.

HATE. VALENTINES. DAY.
All it does is remind me of what a shy, incompetent 🤬 I am.

Im happy to be alone. I barely have money to spend on things i like. I dont need another person to blow money on.

Have very good memories from past years, like one girl inviting me to her house/bed but I play dumb and go to another one and stuff like that but now, as a married man, I've bought flowers and a gift and took the wife to a nice place to have dinner.

Forever alone = Me and have been for more than a year, atleast I still have plenty of time, not sure if I'm too shy or just cautious or both. Meh, I'm quite happy right now on the train back home with family

 I wouldn't call it blowing money on them and plus they spend money on you too, well I guess it depends who your dating.

Sounds like you should do something about that then. Just a thought.

I honestly forgot this day was coming up till someone mentioned it to me this weekend. Kind of a silly thing, I typically think. Especially all the "forever alone" people complaining.

Hmm. Totally forgot about it, and yet my girlfriend wasn't even angry or something. She didn't even mention it.

Maybe she understands that Valentines day is for the secret lovers?

My favorite part of Valentine's day is the days after the 14th, when all the candy and junk food is on sale, almost 75% off. I live with my grandma and family. Typical Mexican family that is.

Yeah! Valentines day! :)

As for this year... I'm alone for the day...was supposed to have lunch with a friend of mine today... sadly, she just returned to school yesterday, so she has some homework to do already...:yuck:

No worries though... since we agreed to see each other on Saturday :)

You see... Valentines day isn't only the 14th of February... Valentines day is everyday :)

I've never had a close relationship with any girl at all... except for her... <3

Not a couple yet... but I think this is the year :)

Happy Valentines day! :)

My Dad told me this when i as still living with my parents.

He said "Son if you ever get real serious about a woman make sure you always get her something great on Christmas. Then whenever Valentine's Day rolls around, you just remind her of what you got her on Christmas. If she gives you any lip, just remind her again, tell her you love her and walk out the room before she can come back with anything else to say." True Story 👍

I agree with both those statements.

It's just silly to me, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun. It's nice to have an excuse to do nice things for your girlfriend and for her to do those things for you. It's not that we don't do anything special except for on Valentine's day, but it's just nice to do something nice on that day.
