I say conservative for these reasons.
1. One of the hallmark issues of conservatives, gun rights, is being treated with caution by democrats. Even the front runner of the doves, Dean, doesn't want to appease the pro control faction.
2. A report the students in colleges are more conservative than previous generations, at least the one prior to theirs. But I think this is based on opinions of issues, not claims of being conservative.
Also, if the capture of Saddam greatly increases the war's popularity, conservative candidates may capitalize on that. Ironically, wars of "liberation" are not what one would presume is a conservative position.
