PS2 slim
PS3 launch day 60gb
PS3 80gb

N64
Atari
2 x Sega Mega Drive
Origional xbox
Origional gameboy
Someting that's a keyboard and takes tapes as games, got a car game for it, I know this ones fairly old, but to think we came from this!
And another keyboard thing which takes cartridges.
And loads of those preloaded with games things which you plug into the TV (controller)

Anyone know what the 3rd and 2nd last ones are? I'm not too good with names of these things!

I use my ps3 for all my ps1 and ps2 games so no I don't play the ps2 anymore!

:scared:Thats impressive 👍

I've got;

ps3 slim 320 gb with OFW 4.00 from sony
ps3 slim 320 gb with CFW 3.55 from kmeaw
ps2 fat 80gb, network adapter, free McBoot

You probably had in your collection one of the pegasus variations. It might be nes cheap copy i think.

I'm still playing on PS2 sometimes. I hope to finish Killzone on it someday soon. And then Shadow of Rome after that one day.

The PS2 has certain affection that I don't have for the PS3. The PS3 is simply a gaming machine.

Everything I have is as follows:

NES
N64
PS (Original)
PS2 (Fat, x2)
PS2 (Slim)
PS3 (Slim)
Wii
Gameboy Advance (x2)
Gameboy Advance SP
Nintendo DS Lite (x2)
PC (Games only)

Each system has at least 2 controllers, and I at one time had 11 PS controllers. I have over 300 games combined in each, with my original PS having over 75 by itself and my PS2 coming in at over 110. I've only got about 15 PS3 games due to the cost. Every other system I had between 20-60. I think that's about everything...maybe not.

I bought a PS2 to fulfill my nostalgic urges; Burnout 3 & Revenge, Downhill Domination, Black, Killzone, (soon-to-arrive) Micro Machines V4, (seriously considering) Flipnic.

^Burnout 3 is the best Burnout of all! Great Soundtrack and perfect for taking out anger at 2 in the morning without waking up everyone. :p

Me, but mine doesn't work that good anymore.

And this freaks me out-

Your game might be a different region game. I had this for Dark Cloud because I bought a NTSC (is that what it is) game for a PAL system, had to buy a mod chip so it would work, and it eventually killed the first PS2. The first fat PS2 came with Gran Turismo 3 (the first video game I played) and Jak & Daxter. Then we got a slimline in 2005, it came with GT4. Which had so many faults and things wrong with it. We had to get it fixed. Then about 3 or 4 years later is decided to only play a few games. It would play budget titles, but refused to play anything worth playing. Then for Christmas I got a new PS2 for myself. Still use it to this day, and it works perfectly. Still have all of my PS2's. :D

And Controllers? Um, first one came with two, broke one, the second PS2 came with one controller, as did the third. I don't know where they went, I have two, one with horrifically greasy analog sticks (I remember that I ate some really greasy chips when I was 10 and then used the controller and played Jak II, then greased them over. They never recovered and we still have it. :p).

Memory cards, only ever had 2, one of them the traditional 8 mb. The other is a 32 mb card.

Now I think of it, all Playstation systems except my current PS2 came with a GT game. GT3 with PS2, GT4 with PS2, GT5 with PS3! :D

A-freaking-men! Always played B3 when my job pissed me off. :D

I've still got a PS2, the disc drive doesnt open properly on its own power though. I also still have a Dreamcast, N64 and a Sega Saturn, PS3, Gameboy Color and a now dead Nintento DS

I have a fat PS2 that me and my bro both bought shortly after it's release along with some if the best games of all time: Gran Turismo 4, Jack and Daxter and Time splitters future perfect are all examples.
Surprisingly the thing still works perfectly. Brings back old memories. :)
It has this kind of dead feeling when I play it, though. I can't explain it but it's horrible. :(

I have my 3rd PS2 still...

I never dropped them or Overly-abused them, but in my taking them places, they all stopped reading discs...

But my 3rd is about 10 ft away, in pieces. I tried to put a mod chip in it, and whilst taking it apart, busted one of the ribbon-cables off the board... Whoops.

Actually all games I play are NTSC so that's not the problem. The disks won't read unless I try alot of times. I just need a tutorial on how to fix this problem.

I don't even have a PS3 yet, so I'm still playing GT4 on the PS2. It's on its last legs though, the cover is off at the moment as the fan connector is not working and it keeps overheating. The fan still works and i'm trying to wire it to another power source, such as the USB port or memory card slot. I just have to secure the wire there somehow without soldering. (I tried to solder it to an external broken connector off a flash drive and failed, so i'm not confident in soldering to the system itself, which is why I used an external one in the first place).

I have mine still, had it for 8 and half years. I still use it even. Even if my PlayStation 3 had B/C, I would still be using my PlayStation 2 for PS2 games.

I have mine, but it doesn't really start up games anymore, so I guess I have a shell of a PS2. :indiff:

I only really miss it to play GTA San Andreas, still crossing my fingers for a PS2 classic release on the PS Store though.

I used to have two fat PS2's. The first one I got back in 2002 along with GT3 has always been at my dad's house, plus it still works just fine. I then got a second console bundled with NFSU a year later so that I didn't have to take my other PS2 home from my dad's house (used to go there each weekend). My second one actually suffered frequent problems, and it started to fail a couple of years ago. Eventually it stopped working altogether, so I got rid of it.

My other consoles, past and present:

SNES
Sega Master System II (lost power cable)
PS1 (fat x2, although one has since been thrown out)
Game Boy Advance
360 (20GB Premium, Arcade version as a replacement for the 20GB, and now the 250GB Elite)
PS3 (120GB)

How do you people do it? It's not like I abused mine...

I never abused either of mine, and yet the newer console went kaput whereas the older one still functions as well as it ever has.

How do you people do it? It's not like I abused mine...

Dust? Climate or other conditions, or maybe just unlucky? My fat one failed after about a year (it was used and I was only 10 when we got it) and my second one (slim) lasted about a year before it had trouble with certain games *cough 4 copies of GT4 and another 2 years at least before I opened it and broke the power button. Eventually the whole thing just died, no power to the board. I am now on my third one, which the situaton I mentioned above and about to get a PS3.

I still have a NES in some working order, although it has trouble reading games I believe it otherwise works well, and a PS1 which the laser unit from memory stopped working and now the power supply blew a fuse when I was testing it. I could try and fix it as I tend to do that sorta stuff but it's probably not worth it.

I also still have my first and only fat PS2 and it still worked last time I checked.
Sad thing is that I can't find my controller again after i moved so i just ordered one.
First thing i'm gonna play when I recieve it is Ace Combat 4 or the Belkan war, those are way better than Assault Horizon imho.

I still have a ps2. Although I never use it anymore. Just use it as a paper weight.

Do not get me started on that screen, it almost got be banned from GTP back in 2006 I was so angry. I think it's funny now but it's still a weird creepy screen.

How about this screen? Kinda creepy too?

Far more likely his laser is on its way out or the disc is damaged. I replaced GT4 3 times (including my friend's game) because it kept damaging GT discs for some reason. (GT1 was also a victim) before I realised my PS2 was not only not reading the discs correctly, but leaving round scratches rendering the game unplayable. :grumpy:

I think my chubby PS2 is coming up to 10 years old now and it still works sort of like new. It'll play normal PS2 discs but it wont play those blue ones. Not sure what their official name is, but you probably know what I mean if you've seen one. Impressive for a 10 year old console though!

And then I have a slim that I believe is about 4-5 years old, still works perfectly and even has an unbroken seal. I take it with me when I travel abroad or somewhere far, since it's actually easy to carry around thanks to being slightly bigger than a DVD case.

Sorry for thread grave digging :sly:

My PS2 is a fat V9 SCPH-50004 from 2003-something. The uncle of a friend of mine bought it for a trip, and afterwards he gave it to my bud. He played it until early 2009 when his young brother smashed it with a toy rubber hammer
He had somebody take a look at it and that somebody came to the conclusion that the laser is wrecked. Then it collected dust in his place until 2010, when I read about FreeMcBoot and the possibility to play games from USB hard drives / sticks or via the network adapter. I wanted to try it out since I had another bud who was able to install FMCB to my memcard, and so I bought it off him for 15€.
The whole FMCB thing worked really well (except for the lagging cutscenes due to USB 1.1) and I played a fair share of games including GT4. Last summer though I decided to have a look at the laser to see if there's anything I could do about it. So I grabbed a screwdriver and opened the Lady up, just to see that the laser was in perfect condition. The real problem was that it did not move. I tried to slide it back and forth but it wasn't really working. I almost gave up on it...
... and then it happened: I wanted to stand up from my chair and accidentally dropped the screwdriver onto the lens rails. There was a loud clicking noise and I went "Oh 🤬, now I really wrecked it". But to my surprise the laser was moving again, not perfectly as the grease applied to the rails was dry due to the long idle time, but I fixed that by reapplying some more grease. So the problem was the rails, they were stuck in some awkward position since that hit with the toy rubber hammer and they just needed a little force from above.
I did some readjusting work and now it reads DVDs, CDs, everything perfectly. Even burnt Dual Layers are no problem, which surprises me because it's an old HD7 laser, one of the worse PS2 lasers.
I do have the feeling though that the laser might die on me soon because of the declining state of my DVD-R copies. That's why I'm starting to dig up and buy the classics and rarities, but as the name implies the rarities are pretty hard to find.
Just yesterday I got my hands on a copy of "Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call" (or "Nocturne" in NTSC regions) for just 20€, which in my eyes is a great deal for such a niche game that's mostly out of print nowadays. (btw: I recommend this game, should you be able to find it, to people who like JRPGs and aren't afraid of high difficulties and dark, adult storylines involving demons, occult and stuff. This game is damn hard at some points, but also very very entertaining.)
So, that pretty much sums up my whole PS2 history. 👍

See you around,

theRealMeyer

P.S.: I highly recommend FMCB to everybody in possession of a PS2. If your laser dies on you some day and you have a functioning DVD drive in your PC and some hard drive space / an external HDD as well as a network adapter in your PS2 (preinstalled in all slims), you can just rip all your games as ISOs, create a SMB share and let your PS2 access it via the app "OpenPS2Loader". Gigabit LAN is recommended, though, to achieve full speed and improve loading times. Or alternatively just buy a large IDE-HDD and install it if you have a fat PS2 and copy your games on that one. You can do this via the Network Adapter too if your laser's already given up. So check it out! You need somebody else with a chipped or FMCBed PS2, though, because you need to install it on your memory card.

I remeber that happening when I was younger, scared the 🤬 out of me.

Same for me. But it was like a significant art piece of the ps2 firmware for me with the transparent cube and red smoke. Also as to you, it scared the (&*RE) out of me since I thought it was broke:ouch:. Simple reset foo!!!

I have mine but it's pretty much shot. It takes ages to play a game since something's screwed up inside it (I forget what) so if I ever want to use it I have to tilt it sideways so it sets right. I dunno when I last used it though.
