I have it I used it when I want to bring back memories of old GT tracks, old NFS games, and Grand Theft Auto 3 and San Andreas just for old time sake

Bought my fat PS2 in 2002, used it quite a lot for playing games like GT3, GT4, Jak & Daxter series, Dark Cloud, Dark cloud 2/Chronicle, Tekken tag, kingdom Hearts 1 & 2.

I still have it today, though not using it I gave it to my little bro to play. :)

My 8 year old Chubby PS2 lives in my bedrrom getting use 2-3 times per week, while my PS3, Wii & XBOX 360 live downstairs because of the bigger TV.

If any of you guys have problems where the PS2 isn't reading discs then just flip the console over. I found that out today. Now my PS2 works fine except for a few certain games. Even then, both of them still read.

Ah. The Playstation 2.

Had my first for 1 week before it broke. Was the Slim Silver one.
Got an identical one 2 weeks after I got the original, and that didnt die to mid 2011-ish.
Since I fixed the laser, I always it alongside my PS3, so that when for whatever reason, I get bored of my PS3, I can enjoy GT3, GT4, and every F1 game since 2000 on it.
Still cant believe NFS Underground & Undercover still work :D

I found mine in an old cardboard box, but then I was reminded why I ditched it. It can't read disks anymore. I'm thinking about bringing it somewhere this weekend to see if I can get the laser fixed.

I still have it.
Can't sell it,it has become a sort of nostalgia for me :)
From time to time I play GT4 and Toca 3 on it.
TOCA is just purely awesome :S

Just picked up a limited edition 3 pack of some of the GTA III era games.

I still have my SCPH 79001 slim.

I have three controllers and all with analog stick problems: two original black ones and one blue (another brand). The blue analog is stiff upright and then tilts so first nothing happens and then it accelerates. It’s useless for shooters and other games requiring gradual sensitivity. Works for platformers I guess. I’m not even sure the buttons are pressure sensitive, they don’t do it well. One black pulls to the right if you leave it be. So it’s impossible to keep a stable straight line when playing racing games. The other black one often get stuck to the far left so when I play Tourist Trophy I have to firmly guide it back or the bike will continue a full laydown out into the forrest.

So they all kind of work depending on the game, but not really. So I think I’ll throw them all out and buy a fresh new one. It feels wrong to throw away stuff that is not useless, but they are all getting on my nerves so…

There's always a first time for everything you do :sly:
It's really easy when you find out what model number your PS2 is. There's really good instructions on the internet for every model, usually for installing a modchip but same goes for cleaning the lens / adjusting it.
And for the Slim (I don't own one) it's probably even easier, where you have the bare laser right under the lid.

Still got mine! And always will 👍

Still play mah GT3 and Need for Speed Underground 2 :p

I dragged mine out of the loft when I ordered Tourist Trophy for a fiver on Amazon a few weex ago, but my pad has slowly become unusable.....

It's a shame really, as I want to collect all the bikes, but the damn buttons don't respond half the time......

I did look at some cheap ones on Ebay/Amazon.... but that's about as far as I got....

:irked:👍

Still have my slim and play it weekly. Some games that I play from my younger days:
Medal of Honor Series
Ratchet & Clank
NFL Street
Burnout
Test Drive: Unlimited
GTA: SA
Some others too.

Still have mine, I never ditch old consoles when I have a ton of awesome games for them. Mine's a fat PS2 modded with a flip top lid to play imports (along with the Swap Magic disc, and only for imports of course!). I do need to take apart 2 or 3 controllers to get one fully working one though, they seem a little expensive on eBay somehow. Also still have my original PS1, still going strong.

Anyone have any advice relating to controllers that activate the R2 button when you press X and don't register the triangle button at all???

grrrr

:grumpy:👍

I had my Fat Ps2 for 8 years. Then got a slim, that fat ps2 has played in so much hours of blood, sweat, and tears. R.I.P.

I still have my original ps2. I bought it the day it came out here in europe. I still use it because my fat ps3 died six months ago, so I can't play ssx3 or wrc4 on m ut ps3 anymore.

Btw. I bought a psone last week for only 25 euro's. I wanted to play my old psone games using my old memory cards. What a blast! What a memories.

I'd actually spend the bucks on a new or used DS2, it really is absolutely worth it. All the third party controllers I've tried so far were absolutely useless, even the cheap 1:1 copies of the DS2 stopped working after a month or so when you would have to hit the buttons with a hammer to make them work and all of a sudden a stick would pop out and just dangle around with no function at all anymore. Or, in case of wireless controllers, the battery lasts a week without vibration but when turned on the battery life diminishes to about 2 hours. And PS3-style controllers which have triggers for R2 and L2 would make the triggers stop reacting the next second and then work again, in addition to having a pressure point similar to hitting a big red emergency button. Shall I continue...? :D

Seriously, in my opinion, when it comes to PS2 controllers the DS2 is still the best. I even bought an adapter to use it with the PC, which also works very well. I think it's easily worth the premium price tag. Of course there might be very good third party controllers (for instance, I've never tried a Logitech PS2 controller, which I suppose should be of substantially higher quality than the aforementioned third party controllers), but I suppose it takes quite a lot of effort to find one. But for a starting point if you'd like to stick with third party controllers I'd say try a Logitech or Saitek controller, which I heard should be good (my friend has a Saitek controller which works pretty well and has a switchable left side layout so you can switch positions of D-pad and left analog stick to make the layout Xbox-like, it's called the Saitek P2700).

See you around,

My fatty was an awesome xmas present in 2001, I think. I d rather sell my kidneys or unborn children that this much beloved black brick. Its currently stored away carefully in the original blue box, with all cables carefully enrolled. I ll hook her up to my TV every now and then to enjoy the great PD tracks that werent in GT5, to play through the last really great wip3out that wasnt a stupid rehash, to rock through GoW again, to get into a SHOX ZONE!!! etc etc etc.

Sigh... memories! :D

Thanx man.

It's nice to get a reply.
I suppose buying one is my option then.

I did watch/read a lot about fixing the one I have, which has never been abused, but somehow still stopped working, but I guess the easy fix is to buy a new one.

I'll have a look around the net, and thankyou once again for the advice.
