Had some awesome games today hereward, I'm really starting to like this game a lot! In fact, I would go as far to say that it has 'it', that mystical and oft sought after missing ingredient that transforms a game from just code to something magical! :lol: ;) i haven't felt this excited about a game since COD4 (which is a good and a bad thing).

The thing I like about this game is the teamwork. Its been a long time since I've seen that kind of understanding, and the first time I have experienced anything that comes even close on the PS3. I particulalry liked those bomb planting missions. I noticed how we all worked as a team, and it was not as if it was forced on us either. I remember each time we got to the area where the satchel was (prior to picking it up), the squad of guys we had (who were all random people) just automatically toke up roles, no questions asked.

Some of us covered the rear, a few others covered the front. You (hereward), went to the higher ground, and and WE ALL decided how we were going to approach the situation, rather than some guy thinking he knew best. This is how gaming should be a collaborative effort. Every time we had the satchel, we would move more or less as a unit, and our tight teamwork payed dividends, because for the games I played, we ripped the opposition to pieces. Fantastic stuff! đź‘Ť

On one occasion, I went ahead to flush out any trouble, and clear the path for the satchel carrier, and after a short while, I was surprised to find that the satchel carrier was directly behind me! I asked him why he was, and he just said 'I'm following you'. I know from earlier games that I had done some fairly impressive shooting, and I think the guy remembered that. He obviously thought that the best place for him was directly behind me! That's the kind of respect you can't buy, and I felt honoured. :lol: I screwed up five minutes later though... :dunce:
 
Yeah some good games, I was off form so took a defencive role as I'm experimenting with the control sensertivity which has had some adverse effects LOL You find with randoms it takes 2-3 games to get them talking then it just clicks, They were all ranked games we played and as such we shold have been disadvantaged but using the coms and teamwork we won far more than we lost!
One aspect of the game makes it all work, it's the fact that ranking up isn't simply about how many kils you get and it dosen't unlock anything.......this way everyone isn't running at the enemy headlong for the glory and the prize! you still get the odd one but they usualy die quickly LOL One thing to remember is setting up ambushes or sniper posts can be boreing and is soetimes feast or famine when it comes to action, try not to put or "suggest" these positions to "runners" you'll turn round and theyll be gone, not a word, the wander lust will have taken them, which usualy means the enemys also wandered round the back of you LOL This I learned the hard way a few days ago........

Looks like 8 is going to be the maxinum amount of guys in the clan from GTPlanet so I'm opening up the invites, if you have anyone on your friends list who plays the game regularly and he has a headset then send him an invite! Once those are in we'll go hunting good team players in game!
 
Well in the end 5 of us ended up on the game last night and there was some good sneaky battles going on, I spent most of my time showing the newboy round the map but he picked them up quick, the last game did fall apart as it was stupidly late and we were all on the verge of sleep LOL We did have 3 claymore planted on the window sills of the building center of the square on the breach match........unfortunatly no one made it in for us to see what would happen LOL

Friendly fire is on! this will require some role switching so expect to get orderd about! and to shout orders yourself! theres about 4 of us so far who will be there and I'll be running the games all night so no start time just join when you see me, room will be noob clans see my friend logo on XMB for server, once I'm in it may be a while before I can send invites so don't wait for one just join! For a few guys this will also be an introduction to new maps and game modes, if afterwards there were some you disliked or liked let me know so I can include them in future clan nights!
I'll be sniper/fireteam role on comandos and heavy suport on the mercs for most of the night.
 
Fingers crossed I will be able o get on later tonight.

Had a mixed experience in the last half hour.

Got kicked from one game for no other reason than not being American (I managed to move 10 feet before the kick vote started - very annoying).

Then played a ranked 8v8 Control game and managed 3 captures and a few kills, not bad as it was my first time out on a Control match.

I actualy ranked up last night during all those un ranked games.......not sure why but I'm going to keep out of ranked games until I know the maps and game modes, I'll be on from 10pm onwards, there should be between 4-6+ of us tonight but we'll see what happens, just been in a match that niehder setup, he'd put kit restrictions on which allowed me to use just 1 gun.....and not a good one at that, or rather one I'm not used to, I was stuck for the first game with no attachments or grenades with a gun I hate.....match was 20 mins long............Not being horrible but I prety much hated it LOL If your going to restrict weapons then try to give people a choice!

Yeah no problems I'll send you an invite in a little while, you get the IW or SA-80 plus the SAS body armour, light, medium and heavy in the clan colours plus the clan patch which goes on your arm......don't say we don't give you anything!
Membership now stands now at 10 members but there are plans afoot, (clan members have a message about it) Plus I think Energiya has just a few "ahem" members to join us!
 
Excellent, I'll be online from now til about 10pm (GMT), still learning the ropes but I'm getting better at the maps and I'm already not a bad shot thanks to previous socom experience. Look forward to playing with you all :)
 
where'd you go hereward? You missed my moment of glory when i took out 4 of the other team (of 8) single handedly after my own team had hit the ground, 2 scoped headshots to :) Best round I've ever had... I commited suicide next round.

EDIT: Found and accepted invite, didn't know it'd be in messages and not Clan

I just poped on to send the invite, I had 10 mins so I poped in to see how you were doing, funny to see you in a room with hawksey whos an old friend LOL just hung around for a couple of kills and poped off again. M14 wasn't adsactly ideal for that map in the dark but killed a couple.
 
Tonight is clan night! I have the TV from about 7pm so I'll host up a wide selection of maps and game modes for the clan guys, dyer your more than welcome to join in, PM me for an invite if you have problems getting in.
 
I won't be on tonight, I am going for some 550PP RWD action on Suzuka tonight, has been a while. :)
 
If I'm on tonight it will be late, as in past 11pm, as normal.

I am going to have a late one cuz have not had a PS3 for 3weeks so i will be around and some more of use UKOG guys aswell.
 
I set the room up about 7 but everyone was missing or updating LOL I'll pop back on later.
 
Good games tonight everyone. I would have liked to have played more, but I have a 2 year old boy, who needs some attention.
 
Yeah great games as usual, plenty turned up which was good to see, and the couple of SoT clan guys who I invited got quite literaly killed, which after there white washing of the Killzone 2 clan was a nice bit of revenge LOL
The games were all non respawn games and some maps and game modes poped in that I hadn't put there! plus some maps never made the list........not sure what I did wrong but I'll sort it out for next time and I'll make the rounds a little longer and the matched 2 either side rather than 4 to keep the game moveing more. Game petered off around 1.45 with a respawn match at crossroads getting a number of american teenagers in, enough said LOL
Lots of classic moments, the team grenade party game springs to the front though with our rendition of pass the parcel.....with a grenade, that match ended quickly LOL
 
Hereward, that game i got on with you in it was terrible, keeped jumping then it crashed. could it be due that i was in an England server not an Australian one. i dont know.
 
Yes it was a UK server.......this could be an issue, we'll have to get in a room and try it out again, see what lag is going on, saying that beo has no problem from the states, but thats a little closer! Did anyone else have any LAG in the room? I got droped once towards the end of the night about 1:30,
The servers that I used were EU English as that's were the majority of the players were based.......I think if I need to change this can members let me know, it ma be an idea if I host one on an aus server just to see how we get on? Or on one of the international Clan servers, and pick one thats prety empty thus trafic will be at a minimum.
Each server holds 256 conections but the EU English ones seem to have a high number of Americans in them for both good and bad reasons (I'm staying on the fence over this) which I would imagine hammers the bandwidth available to each server.
 
OK I feel I need to say something about a subject which was raised by SoT Clan but also voiced by a few of our own clan last night, which was about Americans on EU English servers. Right first up this subject isn't black or white, There are good and bad players from the states and there on "our" servers for good and bad reasons! But if anyone thinks every UK SOCOM player is sweetness and light your deluded, or have taken too many RPG rounds to the head.
From my experience there are alot of Americans on the EU severs, at present those numbers are dwindeling and dependant on the time of day I'd say on average less than 50%. Now why are they on there? 3 reasons spring to mind with the first reason being the most common
1. They want to play the EU servers to play in "Fresh" rooms with new people with new styles of play
2. They want to "impress" us noobz with there skills
3. Were easy pickings for experienced US players to get there stats up
I've seen both ends of this spectrum from nearly being kicked because I was an "english noob" in there words, to having guys showing me some tips and tricks I didn't know and adding me to there friends list! And of course our own clan member beo leading the way on the score tables usualy and being nothing less than a gent when the team screw up and grenade him...sorry again LOL
There are idiots but we have plenty of idiots of our own in the UK, just because there american dosn't make them more of an idiot, or any more anoying, I would hate to play on the french servers given there genetic programing to talk about anything throughout a game!
I hope to start hitting the german (they have allways given me fantastic clan games) and american servers in future so we can play some teams which normaly we wouldn't play against. the SOCOM server system allows this beautifuly and long may this continue, there are those that want to riegon lock the servers........this in my opinion would be a huge mistake! We have already seen a decrease in the "easy pickings" brigade in the EU servers as our overall level of play has started to increase.
Last night for example we had an american showing us some good sniping spots, he also recomended us as "good guys to play with" to a few americans who entered the game, then we had the funny incodent where one american graciousl said he'd go up against all of us because he was very good and a member of clan 402....or something, We didn't split the team and left it equal sides........he died alot.......and was very quiet next time we were all in the lobby LOL
Anyway, if you have any further issues or points to raise feel free, I don't want to see american bashing going on in the lobby though, and yeah it was the SoT clan that raised it and funnily everyone shut up when they knew one of "them" (bevo) was in there playing, I do seem to recal bevo got a dispriportinate number of SoT kills in those first few games though LOL

We generaly NEVER have this issue within GTP as were a happy well balanced mature group of international petrol heads, but some UK SOCOM players have had bad experiences playing with some groups of Americans and thus have a general bad attitude to ALL American players, again not an issue within GTP or within the GTP SOCOM Clan but we do play other clans and randoms so the issue thus come up!

Finaly 2 new members of the clan Tinny and Wiggy55 (andrew and steve) both are old friends of mine and old COD4 players, Steve runs a comercial airsoft center and is ex millitary and Andy is his son who plays Airsoft regularly, both live local to me and once they have an undestanding of the maps will be a big plus to the team, last night was actualy steves first time on SOCOM! and Andy has only had it a few days. if anyone has any friends who would like to join the clan then the more the better, last nigt is a case in point that the more members we have (12 now) the more turn up for clan nights and the more we have on at any given time, once the clan system is up and running expect things to get very tactical, at present were still learning maps and game modes but as SoT found out and a few others were a prety good team already.

Just started playing this game and it is great. Still getting used to the 3rd person view but the strategy part of the game is great. Hope you guys use headsets and play tactically as a team :)

You need to send me a friends request Baldurkin cant enter request names manualy in game. But yeah welcome to the clan,.......and yes headsets and tactics are the order of the day, you can be our very own icelandic terrorist! only jokeing, we have a few nordics in the team matey.

I am American and understand the frustration everyone has with us. I play in the U.S. servers all the time, and am in agreement with most of the complaints toward us. There is a very small amount of U.S. players that are respective toward their opponents. The guys in my other clan are part of the small percentage of the good guys online.

Your 3 reasons are probably part of the reason alot of the U.S. players come into the EU servers, but the main one is probably just so they can be jerks to someone from another part of the world.

That seems to be the american way these days. We have just as much trouble in our american clan with the U.S. players as you guys do in the EU servers. Something about society over here, makes our citizens completely oblivious to anyone other then themselves. Imagine having to deal with americans every where you go. It's a real pain most of the time. I live in a small town so it's not to bad for me, but anytime I go to the city, I want to go real life socom and pull out an m4 a1 and start going mad.

Anyway, I do love my home country and would die for it, but the people here have major problems when it comes to respecting the people around them. I'm sure that most of the americans on this forum would agree with me. The way GTplanet is moderated really does help to keep the morons out. That's probably why you don't see to many of us americans in here.

There is a problem I know but from my experience it's not one that dosn't happen on most online games and america hasn't cornered the market on idiots. Theres a kick button on SOCOM and as yet I haven't used it but if needs be it's there LOL
The thing that anoys me about the "situation" is that ALL americans are being tared with this image and it's not the case, or rather my experience online leads me to belive it's not the case, there are your "gangsta" gamers who I have problems understanding apart from the stream of abuseive profanity which is supriseingly clear, then the good ol boys holering vietnam war cries and recounting war stories but who are guenuinly helpful in there own way. then the "spoilt pre pubesant teenagers" who are....well not quite from this planet, then theres the rest, who are friendly gamers who youcan have a laugh with, these seem to be the majority.....but I avoid the rest so they might be the minority? Lets hope not LOL
