I was gonna go pick it up today, but I sorta bought some aftermarket stuff for my car so I bought that instead over Socom haha.

From what ive read on the playstation blog, online servers are down, noone can play. Also, no throphy support out-of-the-box, youll have to wait a couple of weeks for that to be patched in.

Sounds like a bugged title to me.

I play early today. Good servers so far, I play one dedicated, and few made by people.
MIC is soo clear, i love the new PS Headset.

Only problem with socom so far I found is when I lay down, prone, and zoom in my gun and look through the SCOPE, the camera moves up like i was crouching or standing up. it is annoying.

i picked this up yesterday and all last night i didn't even get to play it. First thing i get the new console 2.50 update, that took about 2hrs or so to get done/installed. THEN when the game finally started to load, it had to download it's own update which took like 6+hrs(I can understand the server load being new and all), i left it on, went to sleep and woke up to an error, but for some reason it still loaded the game and let me start. So i haven't actually PLAYED the game yet :grumpy:.

I really dislike the PS3 because of all the install/update garbage. Xbox360 destroys the PS3 as far as online goes (no contest) and just over-all usability. Never played any xbox game that had to be installed on the hard drive (besides creating a game save which takes less than a minute). I feel the hardware of the PS3 could definately out perform the xbox360, but as far as function/online/ease goes, the xbox blows the ps3 out of this world. Sorry for that rant. :)👍

[edit]-10/17/08-I was finally able to join a game this morning and I have to say i was a little dissapointed. I thought the graphics were going to be better, but i guess this game isn't about that, it's about the concept/team work which is cool. I am also new to this blutooth device, it's synched with my ps3, but i kept asking if anyone could hear me, but i was ignored. i'll put more time in tonight to see if i can get into it! otherwise it might just start to collect dust on my shelf.

I picked up my copy with the headset yesterday. Took me a while to get the right position for the headset but I found a nice comfortable position, really good sound quality, definately worth it. I was in the beta so I was already used to the controls and everything, graphics were about the same as the beta, but they did fix most of the lobby problems and problems people were having while trying to join into games already in progress. I haven't had much lag yet for the 10 or so matches I have played in, although I am not blown away by the game, it is still alot of fun and should be a great online title.

@ vr6 - In order to use the headset in SOCOM you have to press and hold L2 to say anything, once you press it, you will hear a little sound through the mic and in the bottom right by your weapon and ammo display it should have a little icon with your name.

Glad I didn't pick this up... No single player and a lot of the same bugs as the beta? Just can't justify it at $40. Maybe when it's $25 or so.

Well most of the reviews have been medeocre at best, glad I didnt take the plunge either.. Gamespot (although 360 fanboys) slammed it with a 6.5 citing the horrendous problems with online, which is... the whole game!

I know all the fanboy's will be like oh this is because PSN sucks and live rules but the truth is other games ive seen have never had any problems on PSN so this is a game issue, not the network.

The base of the gameplay is great, but yes, there are major bugs. If they get the problems sorted out, it will be a great game. Maybe the best online shooter out there, but for now it's having some major problems.

I agree, once you get into a good game, IMO the gameplay is more addicting than COD4. We all know the game has some big bugs it has to fix and this could be a great game if they did fix them.

Can't believe I haven't picked it this up yet...I'm very tempted to but something is holding me back for some reason....

Anyone play this in GTP or is it just me? I wanna get a game going.

I am plaing.. well since school i have a lot of cooking going on.. not ne more lol.. but we should kick some butt together sometime lol. add me to friends list

I am also playing every now and then, hadn't played for about a week or two but then played for a while the other day and it was great. The bugs and issues they had earlier with the servers are pretty much gone from what I've played so I don't know why more people arent playing.

I'll try to get on more often but NHL09 and R2 are also taking my time away. Feel free to send me an invite.

I'm probably going to pick it up in a month or so when it finally arrives in the UK. Any particular reason why I shouldn't? (I've heard some people complaining about it but I don't know how true some of the things claimed are)

Most likely it's Language Localization, there's quite a few languages in SCEE regions (As you probably know) and it takes a while to translate everything.

Chris.

If anyone is still playing this add me

PSN: driftkng (no i don't think i'm the drift king, not even close :dunce:)

I haven't played Socom in a few months, i didn't get that into it. I purchased it when it first came out, i wasn't aware there was no campaign mode, strictly online. And then all the problems with the servers when they first started out. Horrible loading and wait times. Hopefully a lot of that has been resoloved. But i didn't enjoy playing it as i don't have any PSN friends. I was just running around deathmatch style. This game is supposed to be about team work. Joining Random games do you rarely find that. So if anyone is going to be playing, or just wants to add someone in general, My PSN: driftkng .

I have loads of xbox live friends, and 0 psn ones :indiff:

I would if it was out in the UK!

I went to play this for a short while yesterday and had to download the current update. That took about 30-40mins no biggy.

Now i understand there are 32 players, but to me it just takes WAAAAAY toooo long for a game to load/start. At some points it feels like the console/game froze...but it did not. It's just taking it's sweet time. Now once the game has started and you're in playing it's ok. Little lag here or there not bad. But i wish they could do something about the load times. I guess i'm just not a hardcore enough fan to want to go through with that everytime the game/map switch's. Now if i had some cool people, PSN friends to play with, atleast i would be more inclined to go through with that wait period. :indiff:

Well I'm an old Socom vet so I'll probably be happy with it. I don't mind waiting to long because it's not that fast paced a game anyway like COD or something it's generally a bit slower the way rounds progress which I'm assuming is true of Confrontation.

Yes once the game is started all is well. the rounds do tend to take a bit of time depending on the host, round duration, map size, amount of players, game type etc. I usually play the infinite re-spawn since i am not the best at the game, and don't have players/friends to team up with or chat with once i die to wait for the next round. If anyone is on, once again add me i'de be more than happy to play. :)👍

There are alot of problems with it right now. Trust me, you're better off them delaying it until they can get it running right.
1.It's very hard to find good games to play. For the first 10-15 minutes you're on, you just look for rooms to get in.

2. The stats still are not working properly.

3. Some clans still can't see each other. That's just one of the clan problems, there are many other issues with the clams then just that one.

I could really go on, and on. Their just trying to prevent another horrible release, like they had the first time. If /6 tries and wait until the game is running right though, you guys may never get it. Every time a new patch comes out to fix a problem, a bunch of other problems arise. The new socom is by far the biggest mistake I have ever seen i gaming. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is classic socom. It's alot more like 2 then any of the others. But the bugs are outrageous.

SOCOM is the stupid game that is made. no development, the same as 10 years ago, only it is on the ps3. SOCOM are not going to be a success. View Killzone2. where we talk about development. When Graw 3 there is no one going to play SOCOM. **** game !!!!!!!!!!:grumpy:
