If GT improves it's damage engine, it should include soft-body physics when you crash your car.

Some inspiration for soft-body physics in GT can come from BeamNG's Drive

Inclusion of soft-body physics could help to change online racing leagues in future as people would drive with a bit more care so as not to damage their car too much.

I was expecting this from the Next Gen Plateform ( xbox one and PS 4 ) but I'm still dreaming !!

These are good suggestions, but wouldn't it be better to suggest something that's actually doable within the hardware capabilities? I'm sure that if things like these are not added to the game is most likely because they can't. Same goes for tire smoke in rear view mirrors, and little details as such.

I'm no computer expert, but I'm having a hard time believing that even the PS4 could do this. And most of these concept games are pretty much empty in content and features. Now imagine how much it would take for a full blown complete racing game.

I'd love soft body physics in GT, but it'll never happen. Also, I don't like BeamNG's way of doing it, it's far too bouncy & floppy, & looks like all the cars are made out of wobbly plastic! I much prefer Bugbears soft body physics.

This is for GT7 (at least)

The intent of this Suggestion Box is defined beginning with these words, "GTPlanet's Suggestions forums are here to let the community share, discuss, and vote on what they'd like to see in Gran Turismo games in the future."

It's not just for GT6 or even GT7.

The great thing about this type of suggestion box is that we can ignore our perceived limitations of current technology and let the blue-sky thinking hang out there.

Often, by writing a BHAG* on the whiteboard, someone will use that to spin off a different, but great idea which is actually feasible. Or, it turns out that what we laypeople think is too hard is actually doable.

* "BHAG" = Big Hairy Audacious Goal

Beam.NG is really, really cool and the PS4 could do it; but there's no doubt in my mind that a dedicated racing game of the scope the GT series has precludes the ability to implement that kind of damage into it unless you want car counts that max out maybe around what Need for Speed III had.

Absolutely loved the video in the OP!

The way the entire body twisted on the van when it hit the barrel role jump! Amazing simulation!

I can't get that game, I would just spend all day crashing things.

I agree though, with the amount of cars in GT, even if they drop a load of standards, but make a few good ones premium, with 5-600 cars, it would be almost impossible to model such detail into every cars crash physics.

I do love the roll over and 'dig in' physics shown in the OP though, that could surely be implemented into GT.

I can see some level of soft body making it into GT7. I'd like to see realistic panel deformation, with opening doors etc. I'd love to be able to make, and keep, a drift missile, with damaged body work, but mechanically sound at the same time. Maybe have boots opening from heavy wall taps etc...

The problem with things like this is people don't understand the implications of what they are asking the developer to do. Basically asking the developer to say to, VW, Ferrari, Audi, Volvo, Ford and so on that they want to add extremely realistic soft body deformation to the game so accurately simulate potentially fatal destruction to their cars.

How likely is it really that those manufacturers are going to say yes? Extremely unlikely. This is why BeamNG and NCG exist, fictional cars for crashing simulators so we can have a crash fix somewhere else without licensing issues.

You speak the truth :guilty:

Volvo and Renault might be interested for NCAP crash data :D
