Solution for the jitters...

I feel damn lucky then. I have had no jitters at all since getting the component video and switching my picture display to interlaced video.

It appears the "jitters" only happen when there's a lot going on on the screen (ie. rally races, 2-player mode) It's like the PS2 can't catch up to do both the loading and adjusting the frame.

Thats when it happens on my screen, it might be a bit of a trade off for long load times.

52 inch widescreen hitachi less than a year old + older playstation = jitters.

Ok everyone is complaining about GT4 having the jitters. I initially had this when I was running the standard RCA cables. Yesterday I went and picked up the component video cables. While playing with the game set a 1080i I still had the jitters. So, I went to the menu on the TV itself and selected the "interlaced" video function and I have had no jitter what so ever. So try thins and see how it works for you. I have also had no issues with the screen being centered either.

These "jitters" aren't a problem with your TV, it's the video losing sync because it drops below 60 FPS. This happens because there's too much going on for the PS2 CPU to handle. It's not a fillrate problem, because it happens in 480i, 480p and 1080i. the intresting part is, when i had the demo, i used to get these "jitters" more often with the S-video cable, when i used my component cable (still runing 480i) they were minimized a whole lot. However, they happen in any resolution in the full game. Don't expect this to go away with any kind of tweak. PD pushed the PS2 a little too hard this time around, but since it allmost never happens it's really a non issue.

So i suggest to evryone to stop looking for a solution for this problem, because there isn't any.

Guys and girls, please listen! Some one on these boards posted a helpful hint for the "jitters". I wish I could remember who so they could get the proper credit. Here it is: Go to the options menu and adjust the brightness. Bring it down a few notches. Mine was on 3 and I moved it to 0. It has drastically cut down the jittering. In fact I haven't seen any since, and I used to get the shaking quite a bit. Try it!

Whoever is responsible for this solution, THANK YOU! GT4 is now 99% perfect! The intro music still stinks.

I have a Sony Wega XBR 34" HDTV that is 3.5 years old and they game looks fantastic but I still have jitters on a few shots but never during the game. It's no big deal. But after reading this, I just noticed my HDTV set was on "Cinemotion" instead of "Interlace" so I hope this solves my problem like it has with some of you.

You're not using component cables then are you? If you have that TV I don't see why you wouldn't go out and buy some component cables. The game supports 1080i, why not benefit from it? Reason I can tell you aren't using component cables is because you can switch from interlaced, to progressive, to cinemotion, which means it's just getting a standard 480i signal. If it was getting a 480p signal or a 1080i signal it wouldn't let you choose.

Go get some component cables man! (or if you have them already, set the damn game to 1080i or atleast 480p!)

This is what I did and it has almost totally solved the problem, except for the rolling start on SS route 5 it shakes for a second when all the cars are on the screen at once.

doesnt anyone else get the jitters on the vegas drag strip? Right before you haul ass the screen jitters like a mofo.

I have a crappy 27" Daewoo TV and use the RCA cables and mine gets the jitters as you call it all the time. Does it mostly in replays...and before the race begins. When I'm racing I havn't really noticed it.

lol I think I have this same TV

How did you do it????

He only does photo mode ;)

Seriously though. Maybe this is a performance issue like SaintKamus posted;

My bet is on some stray faulty interlacing code or PD has indeed reached and surpassed the PS2's limits.

Either way, It's annoying, but not a game killer for me... Can't wait to get home to my new RS6

thats exactly correct, if you cna choose btw cinemotion, progressive ,and interlaced, you are not watching a High Def image, cuz otherwize it would be stuck on cinemotion.

Of course I've got a component cable. What? Do you think you're dealing with an amateur here? ;)

I'm on a really old MGA TV and I get jitters on about half my races. One fix that has worked absolutely every time for me is pausing and unpausing, they just go away. Hope that works for everyone else.
