I got this assignment for one of my digital cinema classes the other day to take 10 still pics of any object. Naturally, I chose my car: a 1995 Lexux SC300. Enjoy :)

Let me know what you think 👍

You lucky @ss. You've got a perfectly running, Mint Condition SC300. Baby that car, and don't let people who don't respect it drive it. (I think mine won't come to life even after a new alternator -the electronics are absolutely fried)

Sweet car dude.    👍 👍

Still automotive photography is tough to get right. It requires a decent amount of light, but the key element in most cases is the scenery, not the car itself. Many shots, the car is parked on a nice lookout on the road, or taken sitting on a parking garage in the corner. Sort of an industrial feel to it.

The car should be completely in the frame if it isn't moving. It doesn't quite look good if it's cut off.

My favorite is the one with the open door.

The only thing ive heard about SC300s are the dashboard console lights (aka your speedo and tach area) will become very dim...which would to me be a very big irritation

Otherwise very nice

its not the speedo and tach, actually there is a little screen-like thing for the climate control that gets dim, the part that tells where the air is blowing out. I guess its like an lcd or somthing. Heres a pic. My car isnt a 5-speed though.

eliseracer: I realized that it didnt look good cut off. I also just printed the pics to take to class on wednesday and they need to be lightened a lot. and the pic with the door open, I thought wouldnt come out as good as it did.

I'll support Elijah's claim that the Instrument panel will go dim. Toyota, in all their retardedness, decided to make a black needle on a black background that has light up needles and numbers. unfortunately, lights have a tendency to burn out, causing there to be a totally black needle on a totally black background. Which, comes to be a small nuisance when driving alongside trees.

The HVAC controls also seem to get dim, as mine were. They get really funny looking around the edges and the numbers fade.

If it's not illegal in Illinois to have only a rear plate, you might want to take the front one off. I'm not saying that your car looks bad, I'm just saying that the front plate seems to interrupt a very beautiful design.

heres a pic of my counsole. you can see on the top left that part of it is burned out. sorry for the quality, the car is in my garage and its dark outside now:

Steeda
how is it not a 5 speed?

He poster a picture of a five speed car, not his own, to show what they were talking about with the dimming. The one in the first and later posts is his and is an auto.

Mine is very much like that in the pic, but your CD player works! Mine doesn't.:grumpy: But, I got a call from my brother in law telling me that the "new" alternator was installed and I can pick it up later today! I'll have to see how well it runs now..

Nice Lexus 👍

I was close to buying a Soarer (1JZ-GTE) once, but a friend got one instead, was a great car.

id have to agree with the cluster dimming. but for my sc300 specifically, my needles are going dim

High-Test

Mine stopped working when I first got the car, the problem was the disk holder was jammed in there in a funny way.

With the way things went last night at my brother-in-law's house, I'm about to be an ex-SC owner. :( I went to start it, it was dead. (he had installed a new alternator, and drove it all around his neighborhood for about 10 minutes or so, and then parked it in his driveway) He started to jump it, and I said "wait, don't you need to ground it?", as the negative cable wasn't grounded to the frame. He told me "this isn't my first rodeo.." and then it started, but died when the cables were disconnected. He hooked it up again and let it run for a while with the cables attached, but while he was inside I noticed from inside the car that a little smoke was coming out from under the hood. I stepped out and also noticed that the fan was not turning, and smoke was coming from around the fusebox, while the car was hooked up to a Ford F-250. I told my brother in law, and he came out and took off the fusebox cover and a plume of smoke came from all under and around it.

I think my Sc's wish to commit suicide was finally realized..:guilty:
