Sometimes I truly wish PD would learn how to make a racing sim....

And you didn't have to race cars to try it?!?

That's been the case for some people since consoles could handle better physics.
NFS has the arcade racing world pretty well covered, for GT to go full arcade would be it's demise. GT gained popularity for being different from all the arcade-like racing games, different as in more realistic.

And I fully support a better arcade mode for these reasons, but in career mode there's no place for it imo.
If PD wants to go arcade (which Kaz doesn't) then they will, and myself with a very large chunk of players will go elsewhere.

I'm not saying it needs to be more arcade like. I love it how it is now, and wouldn't mind it if it went a little more hardcore. I was saying that if the game went softer/harder that it would alienate some if the gt fanbase, and they would look elsewhere to get there racing fix. That being said, I am sure a set of highly variable options on these sorts of things could allow gt to grow even more.

And sorry for double post, on my phone and cant multi quote.

Its worth a bet to say that Yamauchi will waste the PS4's processing power on unnecessary nuts and bolts.

^you funny man.

with 12posts.

This isn't some suburban 'hood where you earn 'rep' or 'cred' by your number of posts. Been listening to rap or playing too many 50 Cent games? Seems like it from your 'extra weighted' posts.

It's obvious you haven't been here at GTPlanet long, so I'll make this brief. As Tenacious D pointed out, nothing ANYONE is saying is anything new.

It's the same thing. Over and over again. People could find this very topic in one of the 'criticism' threads if they simply put the site search engine to use.

It's why I say to these same rinse and repeat threads such as this, 'move along'.:dunce:

What an asinine statement. Did it ever occur to you that new members may be making these complaints? Those who AMAZINGLY did not buy the game on day 1? And problems from day 1 still exist a year later while we get fixes for duping and new 'features' like race suits?

It's amazing how thick people can get.

That I can agree with 100% , thing is though that you in some posts say you are done with gt5 and you play Shift 2 among others, as I see it PD gives way more uppdates trying to fix buggs give us more things to do while EA and SMS just dont care about even gamebreaking buggs in Shift 2 on the PS3
I bought Shift when it came out, I have yet to look at Shift 2.
If they play their cards wrong, I might one day say the exact same thing about two different GT games. Hopefully I don't.

Codemasters, iracing, and rfactor truly put PD to shame when it comes to the racing side of things. Just check out this video, I feel 100% sure PD would never even consider this.

More and more I'm starting to realize PD does not understand racing. No flags, no good damage, and bad AI that does not understand racing.

Anyone agree PD needs to better learn the difference between racing and simply driving?

Nice vid.

Sometimes I wish that PD would stop wasting so much manpower to modell the cars and try to improve the gameplay.

I have never said I am 'done' with GT5. The way you paraphrased my statement actually changes the meaning. I said I no longer play GT5.

I have also explicitly said that the good thing about PD is that they are still supporting the game unlike EA and SMS.

Because PD are still updating, it is still worthwhile me pointing out the things I would like them to improve in the hope they will provide an update that will enable me to enjoy it again. Unfortunately the things that stop it being enjoyable for me are unlikely to get patched into the game. However there is still a great deal of time for them to take a different approach for GT6. So I don't see it as a lost cause.

The difference with those other games is that, despite the bugs (several of which I am luckily unnaffected by) I can still get great enjoyment from them, even if they are never going to be patched again.

The ironic thing is I have never liked the previous Shift games and didn't even consider getting S2U - but my missus pre-ordered it for me for a present. That meant I really had to give it a fair try and I'm glad I did because despite the loose handling, the racing & AI is the best I have experienced on a console.

I don't want to derail this thread into a relative merit thread though, so if you want to argue this point let's take it to the right thread

lol codemasters.

please. If PD had the f1 license they would put codemasters to shame.

WHAT ? Did you use the Formula GT present in GT5 ?
The physics with them are a joke I actually had an headache trying to write everything. I'll update this post later

I wouldnt know anything about formula 1 car physics since i never raced in one;)

However i am talking about the overral package. The f2007 and f2010 looks so much nicer in the game than in F1 2010. Besides F1 2010 is 30fps which is pathetic for a racing game in my opinion

I hope PD never gets the F1 license. I don`t want to see how PD ruins the sport I love and trolls F1 fans all over the world.

"Formula 1 2012 by Polyphony Digital

Features
-4 fotorealistic car models (HRT and Virgin), you can even see the stiches on the belts from cockpit view
-20 standard modells, among them Ferrari and Mclaren! Guess you cannot wait to get your hands on the Copy (Disclaimer: Standard Car models don`t future cockpit view and have generic vacuum cleaners as sound)
- 5 real world circuits to race with (Suzuka, Fuji, Tsukuba, Monza, Nürburgring)
- A highly innovative B-Spec mode which enables you to manage your team (Which means just select the car/driver and press the "start race" button) and your drivers!
- This game has no career mode, no season mode, but b-spec mode and random arcade races (no qualifying, no practise)
- The AI is even customer friendlier then GT5`s!"

Haha, this made me chuckle. I love GT5, but PD wouldn't be able to make a comparable F1 sim like Codemasters.

If PD would make a F1 sim based off their previous efforts of the GT series it would be a joke. The crazy draft and terrible ai would ruin the game by itself. Not to mention everything else that needs to be in a F1 sim that could possibly be messed up like kers, drs, pit strategy, and tire wear. Guess the soft race tires in GT5 would be super softs in their F1 sim. GT5 race softs are a joke, they make it an arcade game. Oh, and car damage? Would you be able to bounce off walls and cars with no penalty or damage? This may sound as if I'm bashing GT5, but these are all fair arguments when comparing it to making a F1 game.

PD just needs to stick with what they got and perfect it. They are bar none the best at visuals, but they need to improve the offline experience. I don't even play offline cause its waaaay too easy. Even using harder tires and inferior cars I can run clean races and smoke the ai. GT5 is only challenging when playing online in GTP leagues. PD was so worried about getting 1000 cars in this game that I feel it took alot away from the gameplay. I know PD can make a GT game of all GT games. They were no doubt rushed in getting GT5 out the door by Sony. Unfortunately GT5 is beyond completely fixing through all these updates. It's nice they're still supporting it and I thank them for it, but move on to GT6. I have pretty much moved on myself with switching to iRacing and F1 2011 at the end of the month.

PD: F1 2012 "The Real F1 simulator"

High expectation die hard fan: It's missing feature x... feature y... z... heck some copies are even missing the disc, there's only the box.

Fanboy: It's not meant to be a racing game, it's an f1 simulator. Says so on the box.

Me: LOL

Well, go play those games and stop whining on Gran Turismo forums.

I don't like Pro Evolution Soccer but I'm not going to start comparing it to FIFA on some forum.
