Sorry for taking so long, but it was the XP-47's Inverted-V-16 Hemi, making form 3000 to 3500hp. Hi-Test got it right.

Chrysler introduced rubber coated motor mounts in the 30s. What was the advertising gimmick?

Monsieur Baffle?

Mr. Smithy?

Some ancient Greek dude, because this could be a trick question?

Not a trick question, and a Google with the right keyword will get the answer to come up (right on top too), but hidden in a lot of text.

The fellow was German, and lived during the 19th century.

I'm getting Eugene Houdry, but it seems that he's French.
Google tells me Houdry helped with the catalytic converter. Thats cool though, I didn't know that before. I'm thinking about a person whose priciple is used in resonators, and they are named after him. His first name is Hermann, which should help quite a bit.

Alright...

let's see here...

Are fill in the blanks game?

The (1.)___________ carburetor was bought in large numbers by Ford as standard equipment on the(2.) ________ V8 in (3.)_____,(4.)_____,and early (5)_____.

(6.)And, What was it named for?

Alright, I know Im going to fail miserably but Ill give it a try :guilty:

The (1.)Holly carburetor was bought in large numbers by Ford as standard equipment on the(2.) 350 V8 in (3.)1957,(4.)1965,and early (5)1971.

(6.)And, What was it named for? A girl???

Pathetic answer....please dont be angry at me for making up stupid answers :D

Hot damn! 5/6 on your first guess! I guess that pretty much answered the question, as I didn't really expect part 6 to be found. Your go, Nick. :)

The Stromberg 97 was named for its 97/100th inch venturis.

(GT4_Rule -I'm not angry. Your guess made me chuckle heartily.)

I would never have gotten #6.

I like the engine quesitons :D

The so-called "cross-ram intake" was first fitted on which car and which engine?

Bad guess: 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28?

Olds rocket J-2?

Max Wedge 413?

I heart Allpar.

1960 383?

Here's another fill in the blank:

The (1.a, b.)____ V6 is really (2.)___ of a (3. a, b.) ___ V8.

Think GM here, there are two possible answers for #1 and #3.

1. a.
b.

2.

3. a.
b.
Yeah, it's vague, but it would be given away with any major hints.

O OO O (that means something....)

Well the 4.3 L is 3/4 of a 5.7 L.

I'm assuming the part b's are the displacements in cid, the 5.7 is a 350, not sure what the 4.3 displaces in cid though.

I think it is the back 2 cylinders that are lopped off, but not sure on that either.

I'm going to let someone else post the next one if I'm right, though, I'm out of good ideas for questions at the moment.

EDIT: Wait, the part b...wasn't the 3800 V6's ancestor derived from a Buick V8? Not sure which though!

Whoa... you're 3/4 way there now, who-oa! living on a prayer..

Yeah, I might let someone go for me if I get another one right, it seems like this thread is starting to turn into the Skip0110 and High-Test show.:dopey:

( I know the question has already been answered, but I'm just doing this for kicks).
Was the 3800 V6 not a small Buick/Rover/(olds?) V8 of the 60's/70's with a row of cylinders lopped off?

They both were. The 4.3 is 3/4 of a 5.3 and the 3800 is 3/4 of the '62 Buick 215 cu. inch V8.

You sure? I thought the 3800 was 3/4 of a 5.0/305, and the 4.3 was 3/4 of a 350/5.7.

So... Now with that confusion, Who's go is it?

The 2.8 was the one that was 3/4 of a Buick/rover 215, I think.
