My guess is Audi, or atleast Auto-Union before WWII?

Give that man a rosette 👍

- can you give me any further details on the engine?

I remember seeing it on a History channel special about engines but I couldn't begin to tell you anything else about it.

Do I need to give you more info before I give a question? Because if I do someone else will have to chrip in since I try not to look anything up.

DIESEL!!!!!
(I said Merc just after Blazin did, and it was not because it said it.)
The inline-5 Mercedes diesel from the late 70's/ 80's. Not powerful, kinda torquey, but lasted forever. I'm using one for transport for a couple weeks.

No, go ahead, post us your question.

BX isn't coming by this thead anymore.....

Lets wait a few days and see if he posts one up or not; if not then we can always let the next person who said MB post one.

Did I explain myself clearly....?

Ok, this was a great thread, and I personally don’t want to see it sit idle like this. So, Slicks, by rights, your go! If not, I’m sure some one out there in GTP land can challenge us all, or ill try again. Let’s keep the fun going!

OK here's a question. It's easy but just to kick off the thread again.

Which was the first commercially available Hybrid (Petrol/Electric) car sold in America?

The type of car and first year of sale please.

I think it's the Insight, but I know there was a Porsche from the...40s? or so, but you probably mean post-WW2, correct? My only guess is the insight, unless it's the prius. . .Insight then.

edit: What's "commercial" defined as?

Quite technically, the System-Lohner Porsche of 1898 was the first hybrid, but was never sold in the U.S.
