Speed or Luxury?

Another thing about the MR2 ... where else are you going to find an MR powered car for that cheap? It gives you an experience with a very different car ballance at a very affordable price. And I like the looks of the MkII.

Though, in GT3, I fully loaded one and still couldn't get it turning in decent times. Oh well.

I'm really torn on that issue...I guess it depends on my mood. I guess that's why I picked the G35 Coupe - it's the best mix of comfort, luxury, and performance I've seen.

You say that as if you own a G35. Is this true? If so, how's it been?

I don't know why everytime I say "I want speed" people respond with "what you think your gonna be doing 120 all the time?" Well, have some common sense you morons. Do you really that's what I mean by "I want a fast car?". No. I mean, quick acceleration. Drag racing style fast, not fly past cars at 120 M.P.H committing suicide. (I'm not talking about everyone here, just a few that has made some nonsense comments to me.)

I've got a bit of both. Enough speed/performance/acceleration for my purposes (3.0 litre V6) and a fair bit of luxury (full leather :D, electric everything, CD autochanger etc.)

It's great :D

Yes, I have owned one for nearly 6 months now. It's an awesome car - I have nothing to complain about. It is extremely quick and is a blast to drive, handles like a dream, very well balanced, and is as solid as a rock. It also has the added bonus of being a bit more rare and exclusive than the 350Z. You can see some pictures of my car here. :)

i have to have A/C, power windows, central locking the rest can be all performance

My dad felt the exact same way. He loves the car to death. His favorite cars that he's owned are his 65 Mustang 302 (his first), the G35, and his 92 Prelude. He got the sedan because he needed a bit more room. It runs our of gearing a 147....but he doesnt know that :D

There are Fieros and X1/9s for roughly the same price as an N/A Mk1 MR2... but that's it for mid engined options, everything else is a huge step up in price.

edit: oh, 914s also.

Wow, sooo many post, got tired of reading after a while, haha. Well, I say Speed + needs (not hardcore speed, insurance will kill me).

Needs for me = heat,A/C,CD MP3 Player
A car with 0-100km/h of at most 12 secs is good enough for me.
So like a protege is good. Cause even if i reck it, not much harm.

But yah, go test drive the car u want, and see what ur feeling is. Cause no matter what we say.. its u who is the buyer

I say, a modicum of both.
I drive 34 miles to work most days.
I want to be able to get in and out with ease.
I want to be comfortable in the car.
I want to be free from pain and cramps on exiting the car.
I want to be able to pass at will, and cruise safely, and sure-footedly at speeds in excess of 70MPH.
Pass all S-type Jaguars this way please.

Though Jordan's car is very cool.

Both.

I like a car that has a nice fit and finish. Leather and seude isn't necessary, but it's nice, and so are power windows and locks. Remote entry, heated seats, sun roof's and in-dash 6 disk changers are pretty cool too. I got all of this on my car and I don't think that I'd want to get anything less from now on. But I definately do want more perfomance. She starts with a 3.0L I-6 making 215 HP, not too bad, but if everything goes according to plan, I'll be boosting 320 RWHP late this spring. But there is a compromise in luxury when adding performance. But it still can be done.
There were certain things that I chose to do with modding my car and things that I chose not to do. I was planning on getting headers and mid-pipe installed but that will really make my car loud, so I decided not to do that. The coilovers that I put on the car are designed to imporve handling characteristics, but also maintain a good ride quality. A noticably stiffer ride, but I can still make a 12 hour drive in the car, easy. I definately don't think I could make a 12 hour drive in the EVO VIII RS.

Wow. Nicely done.

Check this out! (I'm sucking up, by the way)

Whoa, you did an awesome job on that, I really like it. 👍

But isn't speed a luxury?

speed (usually) equals bumpy ride
luxury (usually) equals boring ride

I'd have a mercedes if I wanted both, but i'd rather spend my money on 2 different cars.

Looks cool. Nice effect.

I was leaving the whole car in color, not just the red.

The way I do that is to copy the image to clipboard, drop it to gray scale, then back to rgb. Then add a layer and paste the color image, then move that layer to the bottom and erase the black and white image's car. It's kind of like painting all the colors at once. I've done quite a few projects like that. My favorite was Wynonna Rider wearing nothing but overalls. I made everything black and white except the denim. It was cool looking.

Performance vs Luxury

For just about the same money I could get a 2004 Honda S2000 the way I want it or I could alternately get a new 2004 Acura TL the way I want it. The TL has a bigger engine with more horsepower and more torque, but I presume it doesn't pull the same times as the S2000. The TL has four doors and cooshy leather seats. The S2000 corners like a suminabeech, and has a drop top. The TL has room for all your ladies. The S2000 picks up just the right one.

Of these two, which one are you asking to borrow the keys for?

For the first time I think I have something to honestly consider. If I actually do throw down $35,000 for a car, do I want the S2000 or the TL? I can't say, I don't know.

I'm asking for the TL because it has four doors, more power, more torque. Oh, and I like the looks more.

For $35K I'd take a WRX STi, G35, or GTO.

Those weren't options now were they, A-HOLE! Yeah, I might go G35 as well, except that I am a Honda bigot.

Yes, I've driven a 2003 and a 2000. Sat in a 2004, chose not to drive it because it had less than 20 miles on it and didn't want to ruin the feel for the owner, when he/she comes along.

I guess I need to evaluate my needs / wants. I've driven an Accord for the past ... nine years. Ten by the time I make up my mind. Maybe it's time for a two-seater, see how it feels. Then again, I do drive nearly 100 miles every day. Those cooshy seats and near silent drive could be nice.

I'd take the S2000
No offence, but the TL looks like a car your dad would buy

My mother had a Benzie. It was beautiful, fast, and quiet. Unfortunately, it rode like a buckboard.

She now drives a '99 Sedan DeVille. It is the only one I have ever seen like it. My dad was awesome at picking unique cars.
It's the only one I've ever seen with a floor-shifter. And the "road hog" is quite fast, and comfortable as well.

Perfect. Then you'd have a bumpy AND boring car ;)
