I still seem to get no/v. slow loading on some threads. Was in D1 discussion thread, and its pot luck if, when you hit post or quote, the page will actually load. more often than not tonight, it hasn't been. In the last few minutes too.

It could be an issue with your connection, server statistics look great and I'm not experiencing any speed issues here in the United States.

 As P3nT4gR4m observed, the content delivery service that I was using to host images and static CSS files went offline. Needless to say, I won't continue working with that company after this outage... All should be normal now, please accept my apologies for the issues.
Well thank goodness it wasn't just me, thanks for fixing the problem Jordan. 👍
Oh and yeah, apology accepted. :p But make sure you get something special for us premium members for all this....... ;)

Loading times seem to be really random for me. Sometimes it's as quick as a fiddle, other times it is really slow. No problems for me on another website.

For the record, since the CDN service went down, the "speed tweaks" that this thread was originally created for are, at the moment, not in use. There are a few different things that I will be looking at over the next few days, however, and will of course let you guys know when to be on the lookout for them...

That confirms it - it's not a placebo. I noticed the lack of snappyness.

Oh, really, you did actually notice a difference when we switched back? Interesting, thanks for sharing that. :)

It wasn't much, but it did seem to be taking just a touch longer than a few days ago.

OK, let's try this again. How is the site performing for everyone now? (Note that it may take several hours after I have posted this message for the maximum effect of these latest changes to take hold.)

When I click on a thread that I'm subscribed to from MyGTPlanet it doesn't de-highlight once I've viewed it.

** Actually MyGTPlanet isn't updating at all, after I made this post it still shows Thiele's as the last one.

Similarly, whenever I double click a folder to mark it as read, then later return to that page, everything has reverted to unread. I seem to have to hit refresh after EVERY page load to get the correct status. :(

Strange things are happening. It's faster, but when I go to log in, it says I haven't logged in. Then when I go to another page, it says i'm logged in. :odd: I'm also having to refresh threads to get new responses which appear in the 'subscribed threads'.

Same here, are you using mac/and or safari? When I viewed the same page in Firefox it views okay. I did reset the cache in Safari which initially cured the problem, but then any subsequent actions performed still don't display unless I empty the cache every time?

I'm using Firefox and it's still doing it, even worse now then it was before. The pages are also loading much slower for me then before as well.

Sorry, my mistake, Firefox too. Thought it was okay as it initially loaded my new post that Safari wasn't displaying.

Yah I'm using IE and even when I click on threads with unread posts, then read them and go back to the main page, it still says they are unread.

Same. I keep getting told I have a PM even though I read it an hour ago.

Definitely some weird things going on.

Whatever you changed, change it back, Jordan!

Same with answering polls.
When you click an answer and send it you get an empty poll again instead of the results.
When you then send an answer again it says you've already voted.

And indeed you have to refresh the page to get the poll results

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone, and sorry for the problems. I adjusted the configuration options which I think were at fault, so let me know if you see any improvements. Please clear your browser's cache before drawing any conclusions. :)

Looks to be all sorted out now, Jordan. 👍

Amazing how much we rely on the database and don't even know it until it's not working correctly.

Well, I hope the issues are sorted for everyone. Any comments on the speed?

Ditto of sn00pie's response. Lightning quick on Chrome Jordan. Especially for the space hungry pages that seem to exist on here. [As in GTP uses the most memory out of all the sites I browse]

I'm a little surprised by this, can you elaborate?

I'm a little surprised by this, can you elaborate?

Sure can. Before the speed tweaks, GTP was running with the most memory out of the four pages I keep on tab. Of those sites Stickam.com comes in first at the moment because I am viewing a live page. Current memory usage is at 22,976K With Myspace currently in Second with 20,644K GTP at 3rd with 18,784K and Facebook at 18,072K in fourth.

Before the speed tweaks GTP was drawing the most memory of them. But whatever you did to the site made it much faster.
