14, I had no problems with it (some of them were really bad) but apparently I still confuse where to use It's and Its, I got #2 wrong.

Ok I have to post this because I guess I just dont get it. Here are two of the rules they posted.

It's is short for 'it is'.
Its indicates ownership. No apostrophe is used, as in hers yours and ours.

This is the answer I chose - "If its not yours then I guess its mine."

but apparently it is wrong,

and this one is right - "If it's not yours then I guess it's mine."

Wouldnt "not yours" and "mine" be considered an indication of ownership, and therefore the answer I chose would be right?

Use Danoff's rule it's simple. For further explanation... here. :)

oh ok, yeah, I get it now, Ownership = Its = something belongs to it, not it belongs to me.

15/15 for me. :D

Had to take a second look at a couple, the than/then is hard to spot with such small font!

Wasn't too hard on the whole though, just had to remember to take my time and not rush through it like I do with Famine's quizzes. :)

Microsoft Word's grammar and spelling checker can be handy for this sort of thing sometimes.

In this case, it likes this:

The decision led to a disastrous result.

It does not like this:

The decision lead to a disastrous result.

First you want me to accept that I'm wrong, and then you want me to trust microsoft?

See, when it's past tense, you just pronounce it 'led', it's still spelled 'lead'.
That's how I've always done it, nobody's corrected me before. :indiff:

One hopes that they can at least get something like this right, and all of these sites agree with Word:

http://www.reference.com/search?db=web&q=past tense of lead

Scoff at using Word as a quickie spellcheck if you like, but I have yet to see it make a mistake.

I think there is a glitch in the system. I saw some people hade questions with "Sight/site" in them and "lose/loose" but I don't have any.

You got 15 answers right out of 15.
Your score is above the average score of 11.0 out of 15.
Many of these questions were based on what are known as "sight words".

I admit that I ignore many of these rules when reading some people's posts, but when I see it over and over again from the same source, it grates (not greats) my teeth.

Type slower? :p

I hate that, though. Happens to me alot when I’m typing fast. :grumpy:

Yes, same here. Type fast and I find myself backspacing like a paintballer in speedball.

Of course, on AIM, talking to 8 or 9 people at once, spelling becomes less of a priority.
