So I sat down earlier and went into sport mode for a quick race and this is the starting grid. Where's the fairness in this. Most everyone was DR d or e and SR b.

Mildly off topic, but how did you raise your DR so high? What's it based on?

I thought with the rating system we was supposed to be matched worth similar

Perfect systems do not exist in this reality, things like this will happen until the system is more robust. Not sure why there were quite a few well above normal rated drivers in there but things like this can happen though. Those who queued up and that's probably that's all that were left when the algorithm finished it's sweep, although you have to realize that even with higher ratings look at the lap times they are relatively close. So it's not as if the system can tell who is a great driver from their initial ratings in the least. As time goes on this should happen less and less, but since the ratings are not permanent and depends on the results from each race, expect fluctuations.

Side note the game hasn't been in the hands of the public for a solid week yet, give it time. Give it a month to really get sorted and folks to get into their grooves and possibly land in their average DR/SR ratings range.

Here on the European server, I have never experienced that the drivers are not exactly the same DR and SR. If I am D-C, everyone is D-C.

I'm guessing it does it sometimes so that if a driver is ranked lower than he should be they have a chance to beat higher ranked drivers and rank up faster than they otherwise would, likewise is someone is ranked higher than they should be, if they lose, they derank faster.

Essentially I imagine it does it to speed up the ranking, and get people to the ranks they should be.

I also got put into a race with some a and s ranked drivers when I got to b+. But I started toward the back of the pack and got beat up and ran off the road in the last lap by someone determined to get around me to pick up one lousy spot. My ranking dropped to b- and I've not seen an a or s driver since.
Also it seems there are some Drive club folks playing who only know how to smash and crash to get ahead. Actually had 2 drivers going the wrong way on the track during a warmup. Crazy but kinda funny.
