Now, I have done the rebuild and done every possible upgrade, but I have heard you can get this car up to about 613 hp. Is it possible that it just has too many miles to restore it to that amount of hp or am I missing something?

Either you heard wrong or you forgot the oil change?

Rebuild does the oil change for you.
The highest number comes from breaking in the engine. Go hotlap for about 20 minutes, see if the power went up.

Are you sure about that? It obviously makes sense IRL but this is GT we're talking about. I don't know...I've always done the oil change before the rebuild probably because its first in the GT Auto line. You're probably right about the break in. He just needs to run it.

If you do a rebuild first, the game won't let you do an oil change. If you do the chassis maintenance, it won't let you do a car wash.

Yeah you gain more power as you "break in " the car. 600+hp on a FF car isn't enough for you? JK :)

Sounds to me as if the car was driven on a track for the first time before changing the oil, in which case it will forever be just a smidge lower HP than if you had changed the oil prior to it's first ride around a track.

At least that was my experience at the beginning when I didn't know any better.

If you're that concerned about such a minor amount of HP difference, I'd suggest you sell it and re-purchase another and properly change the oil before taking it out on a track for the first time.

Personally, I took that same situation as a learning experience. Be thankful it wasn't on a 20 million credit car!

Actually the way it is now with my current settings, it is a fun car to drive. Damn thing hits about 200 now and I haven't even messed with the gears yet.

Im sorry, but i've owned the Bog-standard neon, and its hard to imagine that thing would hold together at 140, much less 200....

The only Neon's I've ever seen in the UK are driven by elderly wobble-heads :D

With 600bhp+ their teeth would be flying out of the back window...

OT: Once you've rebuilt the engine it's like new and therefore needs running in again.

Being 4bhp short of a 613bhp target isn't so bad. On most tracks you'll get a higher percentage difference in lap times through human error than from the hp difference.

Any car with over 5k miles will slowly reduce maximum HP yield, regardless of how many times you rebuild the motor.

My Neon is around 610, so is the 3-4hp difference really a concern?

Not really I was just curious if engine rebuilds even matter in the long run. Like if they would sustain the hp, no matter how many miles you put on it.
