Some of them will still be more detailed than others. Also, think about the standards from '05 to '10.
Honestly, I'd rather have blacked out cockpits than generic inaccurate ones.
usuhaia08OK, so now we know we are going to have ‘standard’ cars with an interior view. Well I had some expectations on what generic would mean, and honestly those black interiors are too generic for my liking if you know what I mean... (I can not even see the wheel on those generic interior views).
On the other hand it seems they had devoloped some not so generic interiors spceially for all open wheelers, examples: Caterharm and Pescarolo (I think this was on one of the screenshots from the playstation blog) which look much better.
And then an idea came up to my mind, we have race cars with open and closed cockpits, rally cars, classic cars, 80s and 90s cars, supercars, new cars and so on...
We have premium MX5s, Skylines, 300ZX, Jaguars, Aston Martins, and so on and so on...
So why PD did not think on reuse premium interior views for those cars that are similar to those as standards?
Open cockpits, here I understand they would like to do something more in detail to match the real car so I hope we will have interior views customized for each open cockpit cars.
Race cars with closed cockpit, why do not develop a generic (but detailed) interior view for all LMP cars and similar?
The same for DTM cars, just build one and apply to all DTM cars.
Supercars, rally cars, classic cars (just make an interior with wood and classic wheel).
Summarizing the idea would be to create no more than 10-15 interior views with full detail, working gauges, lighting, etc... and apply it for all cars that fit on that category.
For open cockpits make something more customized as I think they will implement anyway.
For the rest they could reuse the existing premium interior that we already have if the car is more or less the same.
Ok, now some might say this is against perfection, probably sacrilege, and I understand that Yamauchi would probably implement black generic interior views before do this recycling, but I think most of us would like this idea as I think the gaming experience would be much better.
Ok guys share your thoughts, do you like this idea?
It looks in these pics that the Caterham has been modelled as a premium car. The detail in the roll cage and headlight buckets is actually pretty good. Here's hoping it is now a premium because I love that car. ;-)
now we can do NAME THAT CAR from standard cockpit view mode!

yogaflameI hope the Bugatti Veyron and the Lamborghini Countach will look good in cockpit mode

ChicoMaloXDThe Caterham and Pescarolo already had Cockpit view. Same for the FGT? and some others. It is not that they made new cockpit views for the standards. Don't get your hopes up for having any detailed cockpits for most (S) cars. Just the one that already have them.
Its very selfish I know but I only really had one wish for the update a premium Caterham so we could have a cockpit view! Although its not going to be premium I quite literally spat my tea over my keyboard when i saw the screenshot.
Regarding interior view…do you mean you would want a black frame interior view?
By blackframe, I meant same as in PSP (re: cockpit view)
In that case, it would be technically possible.
You're right. They (Caterham and Pescarolo already had Cockpit view. Same for the FGT?) only had the roof cam. I'm, also, there spitting up tea with you. OHHHHH I did it again. Its very selfish I know but I only really had one wish for the update a premium Caterham so we could have a cockpit view! Although its not going to be premium I quite literally spat my tea over my keyboard when i saw the screenshot. WOW!!! Soooo happy, I can't wait and our MWCRC monthly championship race at the end of the month, its in the Cat wooooohooooo!
Not true, they had a roof cam like a lot of other standards. Roof cam is completely different
Oh yeah. Same here.Same here. It looks so much better than what I had hoped for. Going to scavenge the UCD and OCD for the Caterham and open racecars for sure 👍![]()
I personally wouldn't class this as a cockpit view , I could have achieved this effect with some black cardboard and blue tack, this is bumper view with the screen blacked out !!! Very disappointing to see a game with the attention to detail that GT5 has and prides itself on lowering it's standards to this level, it's a shame to black out those beautifully modeled track graphics! I really enjoy the cockpit view on the premium cars and have complained about the lack of interior views on standard cars and I welcome the introduction of a generic cockpit view but with at least a speedo cluster, wheel and dash. I hope I am proven wrong about this cardboard cutout style view but it isn't looking good .
Psp cockpit view looks 1000% better than the screenshot in the news article, at least it has a bit of depth to it. The view shown in the news article looks like very little effort was put into it. Hopefully that is because it will eventually become redundant in the future with a more detailed view.
Honestly, I'd rather have blacked out cockpits than generic inaccurate ones.
PantalonUKI think if that Tsukuba screenshot is anything to go by I'd say its not just a case of slapping a blacked out cut out over the top. We have the standard hud but I think the view is raised so its not bumper cam
That just wouldnt look right
I don't mind what the cockpit view on standards look like. At least we're getting one.
My only concern is what it's gonna be like in the rain. Will the wipers work? If not then it's going to be pointless when it's raining as you will not be able to see anything.
Try the X2010 in the rain in cockpit view. You can see a damn thing !!
From what I recall the cockpit view and the bumper cam have the same field of view, the interior detail is layed over the same image as the bumper cam ( same height and angle)
