If I know I have a chance of winning a race against the top drivers (which happens once in a while), I'll enter the race. Otherwise, I just avoid GT Sport as a whole
I don't play it to become a 'let's avoid getting hit' game, but rather a play to win game.
In the top FIA races, if I'm 6th or below, I can't deal with the clumsiness and selfishness of other drivers. Any position higher and I tend to do well.

Still waiting for the penalty system to undergo an overhaul, but it looks like that day will never come.

A small tap in a corner to push someone off line and sneaking through the gap you've just created. Very irritating.

It's hilarious when they edge onto your flank and instead of backing off you intentionally pit yourself so that they T-bone you. Then you counter steer to drift off of their nose and correct back to straight. It totally ruins your speed, but it also brings them to a crawl and they get a penalty on top of it. It's one of those dumb habits I picked up from GTA Online that will sometimes trigger during a rough race.
