The engines don't stick out like that on Imperial SDs. It's definitely an Executor. The only question is why they can fly through it. You'd think that it would have been colonized by jawas or turned into a ship-city by the inhabitants of Tatooine. I'm sure it'd beat living in yurts, unless the whole thing is radioactive or something.
Why concentrate on the details that would make the world of the film believable when you can instead focus on the spectacle and appeal to the lowest common denominator?

This is, after all, a JJ Abrams film that we're talking about.

That's what made the first films so good though. They were completely believable. But now it's 25 years after the fall of the Empire? And nobody has developed any real estate out there? The Sand People should be speaking English by now.

Plot for 2016 film has been released, to be set between episodes 3 & 4

Director Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) debuted a tantalising concept reel to preview the mysterious film, which is part of a series of films exploring other stories outside of the core Star Wars saga. “For more than 1,000 generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times. Before the Empire,” the voiceover reads, as the camera tracks to show a ghostly Death Star hovering in the clouds.

Set between the third and the fourth movies in the Star Wars saga, the film will follow a band of resistance fighters who unite to steal the Death Star plans and “bring a new hope,” referring to the subtitle of the original “Star Wars.” Felicity Jones, who recently garnered an Oscar nomination for her role in The Theory of Everything is the only confirmed cast member for the film, which will shoot in London this year for a December 16, 2016 release. Jones will play a rebel soldier, the director said.

It's not Tatooine. That's a good reason, I'd say. :p

It's understandable how it could be mistaken for Tattooine, since it's an unwritten rule of the Star Wars universe that planets only have one ecosystem - desert, jungle, ice, temperate forest, city, and so on and so forth.

The planet from the trailer has been confirmed to be a new planet called 'Jakku'.

Is this some kind of sick Jakku?

I called it! :p

I think we could do with another film in-between 3 and 4 covering Darth Vader's early years (and possible internal conflict) and cross that with an origin story of the sequel trilogy cast as young kids. Then it would all fit together better.

Get Hayden and Ewan on the phone!

So to save me digging around the net and unwrapping a bunch of spoilers wrapped up in more conjecture and expanded-universe-focused outcry, is there a take on why Luke mumbles the line "My Father Has/Had It"? Hamill mentioned recording it twice in an interview in the Star Wars Celebration thingy, but I didn't really get what he meant. Is it meant to be current or past tense, or deliberately vague?

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. That is past tense.

He originally said it while talking to Leia in Return of the Jedi.

I didn't explain what I meant very well, I mean the line is mumbled in such a way that you can't make out if he says "has" or "had", although perhaps it is the old recording and they overdubbed it (badly) lol

It is has, and this is my guess as to why:
