I dunno why, but when I read this I imagined Jar-Jar getting sucked out into the vacuum of space.

Mesir sorrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

followed by the end credits.

Maybe he's missing because he's a Sith Lord now.

Probably not, but was an insteresting read/opinion. Had to watch end of "Return" again to see what he was talking about
You can see his [Luke's] choice in his [Hamill's] costume. No Jedi would be caught dead wearing black. They actually preferred to wear tan or light brown. But I argue that Luke's turn started at first contact with Obi-Wan in The New Hope or even before. His method of choice in dealing with the Tusken raiders is proof enough (a blaster with a dead aim).

It was a good read. Only flaw is, I've never seen Sith use mind tricks. Only Jedi. Power of persuasion, manipulation and deception.

Qui-Gon did go against the Jedi council and paid the ultimate price. I wonder if Yoda saw that coming. Oh, wait. "Hard to see, the Dark Side is."

Obi -Wan didn't own R2 and 3PO. Yet, he did play dumb(falls under that "...assume too much " running joke in Phantom Menace). He did tell Luke what happened to his father "...from a certain point of view."

Anyway, I blame all this on Yoda. He trained Qui-Gon. Qui-Gon disobeyed and Obj-Wan lost his Master. Obj-Wan in debt, took care of Anakin still under scrutiny by Yoda. Yoda had the to chance to stop it all in his meeting with Anakin. But, nope. Yoda let it play.

Funny thing, The Force. Vader destroys multitudes of people and still ends up meeting old friends in the here after.. Only thing is, where is Qui-Gon in spirit?

Wouldn't have this problem is Disney just allowed the EU to be a thing and then manipulated it a bit to be their own creation with influence from it. Rather than say "screw all this hard work done by various authors, it never happened!!!"

Luke being a Grand Master and the strongest Jedi to ever live that had force abilities on par with that of worst Siths...is far more interesting to me. Especially when you have what happens after he obtains this status that really pushes him and his closest allies to a breaking point. I mean it's not like any of us ever wanted to see them square off against the only group of creatures to be absent of the force. I don't think Disney will screw things up but with so much potential out there making Luke bad, is a bit cliche.

Was it confirmed in the films that Yoda trained Qui-Gon? The only one I do remember Yoda train was Count Dokku, and he DID fall to the Dark Side. It appeared to me that Qui-Gon's calling him master was a reference to his rank, a Jedi Master, more than anything.

Qui-gon was Dooku's padawan.

Has anyone ruled out the theory that Luke Skywalker may be dead? We know Mark Hamill is in the film, and there has been 1 picture shown of Mark in Jedi robes. But could he not now be the ghost vision to the new Jedi?

I thought the ghost Jedi usually appeared as younger versions of themselves?

Luke was the last Jedi. As such, I believe we will see him train the next generation.

No. When Anikin and Obi-Wan died, their Force Ghosts were old. Though with Episode 8 featuring Vader, they are forced to cast their younger counterparts, though they might make them older by way of digital manipulation (the same tech that allowed Jeff Bridges to play CLU in TRON: Legacy even though he did appear in the film as Kevin Flynn [the part that he played in the original TRON.])

So, it's looking incredibly likely Rey is related to one of the OT characters, right? Considering the "waiting for my family" bit. Who is she crying over?

I believe this is the first time we've actually heard their names in the trailers.

...

TIE fighters + shot of sunset = wowsers.

Loving the cinematography shown so far. I'm telling you, this film's gonna destroy box office records all over the place.

I think there's been speculation for some time that she is the daughter to someone, but it's unknown who the parents are exactly. My guess is Leia and Han. There's also speculation that Kylo Ren may be her sibling.

Edit: Super late edit because I've been watching reaction videos for this new trailer and have had a revelation: (do not read if you don't want to be spoiled!)

It's been speculated who Rey is crying over in the last couple trailers. After watching them both in slow motion and pausing to look things over, I have come to the conclusion that the white-ish stuff people think is fur is actually the snow covered branches of fallen trees in the background and is NOT fur. based on the fact that she's in a snowy location with trees in the background (which is the same location that Finn and Kylo Ren battle) leads me to believe that Finn was either killed or injured during that fight. Now, when she looks up and it's a bit brighter there, I would suspect that a space ship (Falcon?) landed nearby and someone is walking towards her, hence her slight change of expression before the trailer fades out.

Rey Skywalker is almost a given now, right? Question about Kylo still remains though. The more I think about it the more I think he is related to the Skywalkers somehow. But I don't think Rey and Kylo are siblings. Maybe adopted? Or maybe taken under the wing at a young age like Anakin was by Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan?

I think it's Han and not Finn. It was widely speculated months ago that Han was getting killed off in a scene with Chewie, BB8, Rey and Finn when confronted by Kylo Ren in a forrest setting. He supposedly sacrifices himself to save them in a nod towards how Obi-Wan bowed out in A New Hope. Harrison Ford has openly stated that he didn't want anything to do with Star Wars anymore, but was persuaded to let them complete the Han/Leia story arc in this sequel.

Makes sense. 👍

This is the image i find most intriguing. I think you see some of it in the most recent trailors, but i'd dismissed the guys around Kylo Ren as just stormtroopers - but they're obviously a set of his own troops/followers. Has it been shown or confirmed that Kylo Ren has anything to do with the Imperials? - or is it just assumed (maybe just by me) that he is?

That's all assumption based on the trailers and various snipits from articles though isn't it. Or have we seen Kylo Ren in the company of stormtrooper? I can't recall.

*edit* Looking through the pictures in the link below, Adam Driver is seen unmasked with some stormtroopers. So it would confirm that the 'Knights of Ren' are at least involved and acting alongside the Imperials. Whether they're a faction of or their own entity isn't clear.
