I'd much rather have a delayed movie so that it will be a good film over a film rushed to meet a deadline that becomes a cesspool of fail. Since The Force Awakens was a hit and Episode VIII is already being looked at with heavy anticipation, I think they made the right move by delaying the film to ensure that it is a success.

I also have to say that another Pirates of the Caribbean would be interesting, but it'll still get destroyed by Episode VIII no matter what.

Not only that, more time to promote the film without overlapping marketing for Rogue One.
 
It's still a year less than anyone had to wait between either the original or prequel trilogies, all of which had 3 year gaps.
 
I wonder if the delay was really a matter of needing more time, or a matter of "it seems easier to make $2 billion launching around the holidays than in May." Either way, no complaints from me!

I've seen TFA twice and might try to squeeze in one more viewing while it's still in theaters if I get a chance.

The start of filming was delayed, and I hear rumblings of a script re-write too. So I think those may have been the main culprits.
 
Oooh my guess was right after all! :lol:

I typically don't follow movie news beyond popping into threads like these now and then. I just show up once things are out and enjoy.

I really don't care for theaters so I usually take my time on the rare occasion I feel a movie is worth seeing before I can just buy it. I think Age of Ultron is the only film I've seen relatively close to it's release date.

Hopefully Rogue One can at least match TFA, it certainly has an uphill battle box office wise.:lol:

Rogue One won't even come close the TFA.

Yeah this movie is shaping up to be pretty nice from what I've read so far. They brought people in to work on it that have also had their hands on Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan and other war style movies, so it should be quite good.

Do. Not. Let. Hayden Christensen anywhere near the role. Please.

And... this is just a personal thing, but can they get James Earl Jones to do the voice of Vader? I mean, it'd be a real kick to hear him say "The Force's stong with this one" one more time after all these years.

I know he's old and his voice doesn't sound like that anymore but still....
 
My version of Rogue One would be a quasi-survival horror, sort of like Aliens or Predator. It would start out with the typical action/espionage slant of such things, but end with a thirty minute segment with each team member being picked off one-by-one by Darth Vader as they frantically try to reach the last remaining shuttle on a wrecked Star Destroyer, after their demolitions officer blows the reactors.

The last person standing, along with their droid, finds the shuttle, but it is useless. It can still fly, but an explosion has damaged it to the point where the cabin won't hold air. Her(?) last companion died in a suicide bombing attack on Vader, but the Big Bad Sith climbs out of the rubble, scorched and pocked with shrapnel and chases her down. She pushes the droid into the shuttle as Vader force-chokes her. She screams at it to "pull the lever". It refuses, trying to crawl back out to save her. She points her blaser at the hangar's force-field control panel and shoots them, dropping the field that holds the air in. Everything gets sucked out into space. The droid sees his last companion floating lifelessly away, and finally starts the engines on the shuttle, on his way to rendezvous with a hidden Rebel frigate carrying Princess Leia. Vader stands there in the open bay, braced against the escaping air, watching the shuttle fly away.

Roll credits. Everyone is dead. :lol:

His helmet isn't coming off so it won't matter.

He is currently voicing Vader on the Rebels animated tv show so I don't see why not.

I agree. We've only seen Vader with his helmet off twice (To my memory). Once was the back of his head, and the other was when he was about to die. He uses a voice changer so we won't have to hear Hayden's awful tone. The only real issue is that he's not tall enough.

I bought PS3 version of Soul Caliber 4 because Vader was console specific. Oh hey, the film makers could just use the movesets from the game wholesale. Problem solved, right?

Darth Vader doesn't move much when fighting. He reminds me of Ganondorf from Zelda as far as moves go when you see him on SSB. So to be honest whatever they take inspiration from it wouldn't be hard, it's his force abilities that were always the strong suit after becoming Vader anyways.

Why would they let him near the role? Also John Earl Jones still sounds like that. @R1600Turbo put it best he still is doing voice overs for all things Disney, from Vader to Mufasa as recent as 2015/16 so not sure why you thought the guy lost it.

...I didn't know Jones is still doing the Vader gig on Rebels. (Never watched it, don't have Disney XD...)

BTW, Hayden thing was a joke. But having said that, to those folks saying "helmet won't come off" hey, you never know - if the film makers happen to hire a name actor then there's a slight chance it might. Stranger things have happened before, you know.
 
The Jedi Council video on Thursday should be interesting, I bet they will talk about this news article I posted about Vader in Rogue One.

Well... actually... it would be quite fascinating to see what urban life is like inside the Republic for people who are not Senators or Jedi.

That depends - are we talking about the originals of Ocean's Eleven and The Italian Job or the remakes? If it's the originals, I'm undecided; if it's the remakes, I'll take Ocean's Eleven as Steven Soderbergh has a distinct visual style that F. Gary Gray doesn't.
