The way I'm playing at the moment I'll most likely be in the GSL next year so I'll hook you up.

---

I've also started practising playing Zerg for kicks in 4v4. And so far I've decided Zerg is easy street.

Replay of a game I should have won within the first 7 minutes (Got too greedy), lost my whole main, started again from the other side of the map and proceed to kick some gold level ass. FIGJAM.

Lenock had some sick burrowed banelings:tup:

Play Zerg against me as R. You'll just be like "well, okay, I die now."

Just like that. Just like idra, you'll leave.

So our 2v2 team has gotten our asses kicked this weekend. We dropped to rank 10. :(

My cousin has the corner on 2v2 at the moment, though I haven't played enough with him to be ranked as high as his random team matches. Check out his standings here, you'll wtf.

After this week is over, I'll be playing a lot more. Just caught up with projects and the likes, which are eating up quite a bit of my time. But after that, laddering and practice in my small group. You guys are welcome to watch and even play some games with us - we do a lot of 1v1 Obs maps to practice and review our play.

The main thing I have trouble with is maxing out so fast and then working out what to do next. I can max out in team games by 14 game minutes easy. The thing that I find easy with zerg over terran is once you're at 200/200 you can just throw away your army without care cause if you've being keeping up with injects (Which I do cause I'm 1337) you just make it all again anyway.

Though coming from Terran the lack of an easy scouting ability for zerg drives insane, especially when you're on a team with 2-3 other Terrans, all with 200 energy on their OC's and they haven't scanned the enemy once by the 12 minute mark....

So our 2v2 team has gotten our asses kicked this weekend. We dropped to rank 10. :(

We had the same thing happen! We honestly don't know what happened. We're high gold and generally play Gold/Plats, over the weekend we got our arses absolutely handed too us by some silver and bronze league players, dropped from Rank 2 to Rank 22. I have a feeling someone was up though, as one of the bronze teams was a P/Z team who both averaged over 150APM and had some pretty slick micro.

Well, i just beat coLCatz while he played terran :0
Proxy reaper rushes against Protoss don't really work so well :C

Real Catz?

What league are you in?

Well, I have been playing some customs on the US server, and I decided to get placed as Protoss, even though I play Terran on the SEA server. I got placed in gold, even though I lost 2 of my 5 matches, and my losses were very bad, against high bronze players. I think I'll get my butt handed to me if I regularly play at gold level on the US server, considering I'm mid-high silver on the SEA server.

I think I should return to my Terran ways, despite hating TvT so much. Oh, and because PvP seems very 50/50 against an equal skill player

Yep real catz-i can upload the replay for you guys in a few hours, and he streamed it. Im in plat, it was a rather silly game tbh. He wasn't really trying T_T;

I don't think you played the real Catz then, any pro can just macro so well it wouldn't matter.

That side, Gold isn't really a big deal on the NA servers, and I'd even say it is pretty easy to get into Plat. Just mechanics and some timings.

Oh, you have a replay? Yeah, he likely wasn't trying then because most high masters players can off race at a diamond level at the least, simply because of their mechanics.

I'm also high Silver SEA and placed in Gold NA. I've only done a few games but won easy and was playing Plats on NA. I think the general consensus is that in the Silver-Plat range SEA server is actually harder (I find this to be true anyway), but once you get to Diamond and above NA is a little better.

Yeah.. He did a 1rax proxy reaper rush against me while i went gate-core-forge because upgrades are fun, and i was able to get a stalker out before he killed my cybercore from a bunker. And since he didn't have any vision in his main except for his OC/gas and a depot by his mineral line, i put 3 cannons down in his main and expanded to my nat... forced him to lift off-he had a CC at his nat building, so he couldn't land there without losing a lot of build time and his reaper rush wasn't very successful so my econ was almost fully intact.

After that i killed his proxy rax with a pair of stalkers and threw down 6 gates-warped in a bunch of chargelots at his main and then ran down into his natural and killed him.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=293473 go there if you want to see a short thread discussing it (I'm Active.815 on TL) and
http://www.teamliquid.net/tournaments/admin/?action=bracket&id=2622 you can check the bracket and ctrl+f coL.Catz or Active.815 to see it (results are 0-0 because i got manually advanced-had trouble finding the replay on a mac but i know where they are now :) )
Replay will be uploaded in like 2 or 3 hours-was busy doing holiday things T_T;

here's the replay http://replayfu.com/r/GmCjhh

Haven't played Starcraft since after the second season ended. It tends to get a little boring when you go through the same build orders and counter builds over and over again. I think I reached my ceiling with this game. Platinum player, can't reach diamond, lol.

It is entirely because you are viewing at X build counters Y build counters Z build.

The game doesn't work that way. At least not at your level. I got into diamond with no build order beyond Pylon - 9, Gateway - 12 to 14, Assimilator sometime afterwards, Pylon on 16.

Everything else was generally just winging it.

I've never gotten bored with builds because the game is so very much more than that. And honestly, build order aren't very important at Platinum level. Just spending money on things and expanding are way more important.

What race do you play anyhow?

So spent the last 2 days wiping gold people to the floor so hoping for promotion soon.

Anyway, does any one have any interesting builds/allins to make TvT interesting/go quickly? I'm so sick of siege tank wars, and then some jerk turtling with tanks and 5000 turrets when I've beaten it.

I've been doing a few reaper openings vs T which is kinda fun but even when I do some damage with it doesn't win me outright and then I have to grind another 40 minutes vs a 2 base Terran.

Well, I have been doing early reapers in TvT, transition to either Nuke mass harass or sky Terran. I can't micro well enough for tank wars, so I just use tanks defensively. Unfortunately, since Season 5 began, I have lost 75% of my matches, despite still being in silver. I tend to go for later games anyway, so I dunno if you want to take my "advice".

All I know is tank wars is not fun for me, so I try to avoid it, and giggle every time I Yamato Cannon a turret or viking

I spent my Tuesday losing 5 games in a row. Getting stomped. Every game they had no rank. So I guess we were placement Guinea pigs for higher ranked players. Finally won the 6th against gold players. Mind you I solely play 2v2 with a friend and only ranked third in a silver division last season. Lesson learned not to play the day a season begins.

My game play feels stale so I need to change something.

Only 5 in a row? Largest losing streak for me is 12. Of course, I was half dead (literally), but still.

You really should play 1v1 more, as you'll understand what you are doing wrong and right far better than in 2v2, where mistakes can be on your team mate or their part far more often. Gold in 2v2 tends to be around Silver or Bronze in 1v1. And I've seen many Diamond and higher 2v2 teams that are still Silver in 1v1. They tend to just have some good all-in down that works a decent amount of the time.

I shy away from 1v1 because of my horrid micro. Last time i tried 1v1 I placed plat and was never demoted so just kept getting my ass handed to me. I would quit before losing 12 in a row. I'd be so annoyed.

Micro doesn't matter below Diamond. I'm serious. When you have double their supply by 8 minutes, you can just A click on the minimap and win 90% of the time.

You could always try the SlayerS terran reaper/hellion/medivac play.

Personally when i get bored of TvT i go for a 2rax ghost expand using ghost drops to kill scv's. Drop ghosts close to your opponent's base but far enough away that they can't see, cloak them and select the hold fire option, and then load them back up and drop them in the main. Nothing will actually been seen dropping from the medivac so its a lot easier to catch them unaware. after you snipe though, the ghosts will start shooting (cancels the hold fire).

Its also okay for holding early attacks as long as they don't go full-on mech because you can snipe marines, emp cloakshees and then get bonus v light against them.

And then you nukespam for kicks :dopey:

The main problem I find in 2v2 is that on 90% of the maps it's impossible for 2 players on one team to get a relatively safe natural expand, which causes a lot more 1-base all-in type play. It's good for 1v1 just in terms of experience, but you also have to learn to defend against a lot weird unit compositions that just don't happen in 1v1, and that can get you out of practice of just doing nice macro based builds.

Played real quick last night. Lost twice to bronze players and won the third versus Gold players. Lawl.

Finally got to the point where i was hitting diamond players on ladder last night, only to hit a 2-9 streak today :ouch: :yuck:

Oh well, got an extremely satisfying win in PvP that involved carriers :D

Thats cool. I hardly ever see anything other then zealots stalkers and sentries. Occasionally dark/high Templars.

You don't see Colossi? :odd:

And Carriers are pretty bad in PvP usually, as maass Blink Stalker or a decent amount of Void Rays will melt them with some focus fire.

I have been playing some Protoss on the US server, and just finished a 1hr 20m (blizzzard time) match where the guy just went mass raven and banshee. I went into mass blink stalker, with high templar, and lack of control got me crushed.

It was on Shakuras Plateau, and the terran just went uber-uber defensive. he had aprox 30 turrets per base, and poor control saw me loose about 20 observers and 15 HT's over the game. I had built up a 200/200 deathball, which he just held, thanks to cloaked banshees, scans and vikings taking out my observers, and poor control (ran right into about 8 seiged tanks.

In retrospect, I should have gone for phoenii (multiple phoenix?)/void ray, but I didn't figure that out until I had mined out 3 bases, nearly 5, and I couldn't afford a tech switch. Thing is, he only used 4 bases during the entire game, 2 at time at most. Thing is, PF's surrounded by turrets are really hard to kill, especially with 10-12 cloakshees raining death on your clueless stalker/HT/Collossus army

I think after experimenting with Protoss, I need better control before I can really reap the rewards of a deathball. Plus, I really miss scans. So at the moment, I'm gunna stick to Terran up the night!

Control is a fairly small thing at sub-Diamond levels of play. Macro is far, far more important than managing units, and I've demoed this to friends before by never looking at anything but my base while playing them and then A-clicking across the minimap to their base. When you can have 80 more supply than someone by 10 minutes, it doesn't matter what you do with the units.
