You don't see Colossi? :odd:

And Carriers are pretty bad in PvP usually, as maass Blink Stalker or a decent amount of Void Rays will melt them with some focus fire.

You're right, sorry. Colossi are very common as well.

In one of the placement matches (not mine the opponent's) there was a 3 Phoenix harass technique one of the Protoss was using that caught me off guard. I had never encountered that before. It did enough harass to slow me down. While he was microing that very well I didn't expect a very large army considering the level i'm playing at. I don't consider anyone i'm matched up against to have very good micro. But alas his gigantic deathball finished us off. Of course once the game was over there was no rank shown. So I'm not sure what level he was.

Void rays usually get killed too quickly by carriers and stargate tech is rather uncommon@my level anyway, and when i go carriers i usually have a mainly chargelot army with +2 or +3 weapons for ground and air-they melt stalkers pretty fast in conjunction with the interceptors, and colossi can't shoot up so its fine if they die after that ^_^

And my go-to opening for PvP is a 3gate forge on most maps with a cannon as close to covering the nat ramp as possible while still covering the main ramp-rush for +3 weapons while holding 3gate robo or 4gate attacks, and then i either counter-4gate or expand and build flying ships of doom :D

I don't think I've ever seen a PvP go long enough to see carriers...

Though Carriers are the team game unit of choice for Protoss...

I've used Carriers in one PvP before, but it was a 50 minute game on Sakuras. But usually, I prefer a Void Ray Colossi deathball in ultra late game PvP, because of the bonus damage to massive units and AoE death from Colossi.

And I'm jealous a 3 Gate forge can hold a solid 4 gate and come out ahead at that level. If I see a forge, I just take it as a free license to expand immediately and skip cannons myself.

You guys should add me and log on sometime tonight or tomorrow, and let me know when you plan to via the thread. Could have you watch some of my groups practice games or play against me.

Alright, sounds like a plan Azureman. I dunno when I will be getting on, especially relative to other people here, but it would be interesting to play against some of the people here. I'm pretty sure I'm the worst here at the moment, but still, should be fun

My US account is: beLIEve, code 733.
My SEA account is: beLIEve, code 858

Just in case anyone didn't know, the SEA version of SC2 allows you to hop on the US server as well.

P.S. Everything you know is wrong. Everything you believe is built around a lie....

Well, I've added you. Casio also bounces between SEA and NA as well.

I'll be on tomorrow so ill hook you guys up.

I'm Razer - 685 if I remember correctly. But you won't see me on off I'm on until prolly around 11pm-1am. If at all. Sunday Monday ill probably be on in the afternoon/evening. Placed plat in 3v3. No I haven't gotten around to 1v1.

I've gone and added you. Played a game with granturismite. Not bad at all to be honest. Should be some good games to be had between the lot of you, and then I can watch and see how you guys handle stuff.

Yes, dance my puppets, DANCE.

^

Just finished up some games with Azureman, and I realised 2 things.

1. I suck at Starcraft 2
2. I played better in Bronze league.

Azureman completely crushed me in a TvT, TvP and PvZ. long story short, he's good, I'm not so good!

Your better than Bronze or Silver easily, trust me. With a bit of tidying up in your mechanics and some work on being aggressive, you'll do pretty well. Scouting actively will help with that last bit, as it always is easier to make moves in the game when you understand what your opponent is trying to do things.

You guys can add me@ Active, code 815

I'll be on for maybe an hour and a half today and a couple hours later tonight at some point =D

Just added all you guys on NA.

Had a 2v2 the other night. Got absolutely crunched. Like ridiculously so.

Checked and one of the players is Rank 120 Grandmaster, other was Rank 2 master.

Don't feel so bad now...

Gotta love that feeling. I played a 2v2, got a Gold partner who had 3 zealots when 4 gate speedling all in hit, and so I left. Then played a bunch of 1v1's and lost 4 in a row. But then won some, so it all good.

Here is the replay of a more unusual PvZ for me

Attached the file instead. Just change the extension to the sc2replay and it should work fine. I can't get the replay hosting sites to work with it for some reason :indiff:

I feel so embarrassed when some zerg cheeses by building a hatch in my base complete with a queen and three crawlers before I even notice it. :dunce:

Perfect that strategy and you can start calling yourself Catz.

I see that sometimes when i forge expand and then i freak out and don't know what to do, so i just wall it off with pylons and gateways xD

Well looking back at the replay it was completely avoidable. I was oblivious and the drone just waltzed right in and hid in a dark corner.

In other news I absolutely pwned a game of hero attack as a brutalisk. :dopey:

Speaking of proxy hatches, this game - just refresh the page after you load it the first time, their site is odd.

Hmm I keep reloading and still nothing. *shrug*

Also the .zip file you attached apparently nothings in it. WTH

Like I said in my post, change the file extension...

And here is another link for that other game.

EDIT: Played 11 games earlier. Won 3 of them. I was a touchy rage-tastic by the end of it, though fairly civil to those that beat me.

All he made was roaches.. tons of roaches.

It funny, a lot of zerg players seem to say 'Roaches are bad', then all they make are roaches.

Personally I think roaches are pretty decent, with burrow they basically never die.

Right?

Is this the official GTPlanet SC2 thread? :)

I just started playing SC2 a few months ago and just get on ladder earlier this week. I've been just playing Campaign and vs AI.

I spent some time practicing the basic build order with protoss(the 9 pylon > 12 gate > 14 assimilator) but once I started my placement matches I just didn't do very well. Lost all 5.
Mostly just build order/macro mistakes.

I won my first ladder game PVT...finally, but I definitely need a ton of practice on my macro. I worked on trying to spend minerals ...but I still find that i'm accumulating about 1000 minerals around the 10 min mark. The one thing I'm pretty good at is building probes. I think I consistently had a few more probes in each game than the other player.

I'll need to register over at the team liquid forums at some time soon but its nice to see a SC2 thread here.

Sometimes I think the Mutalisk was added just to troll non-zergs. I finally can deny mutas as Terran, then I play as Protoss, then I get my butt kicked by mass muta. So I made a lot of blink stalkers and cannons. Fat lot of good that did. zerg busted down the pylons that powered the cannon, and still had enough mutas to take on 25 stalkers. All the while, I'm teching to High Templar w/ Storm, and just before storm completes, he takes out my HT's. (actually, I give him points for that). Eventually, I have enough stalkers to thin the heard, but lo and behold, 50 Banelings roll in and gut my entire base. How the hell is Protoss meant to counter mass muta, and expand beyond 2 bases?

[/rage]

You just go kill them basically. It is hugely dangerous to go mass muta at first, and the second you see a few, you just drop cannons and move out with a huge gateway army. Blink stalkers are the appropriate stop gap, while you get Archons out pretty much ASAP. 3 Archons can 1 shot a ball of mutas. And honestly, if he could get 40 banelings or whatever, the game was over long, long before.
