When starting from the grid, should you:

A) Push your pedal down all the way and keep it there.
B) Hold the revs at red line and then hit it on go.
C) Hold the revs below red line and then hit it on go

?

It all depends on if you're using traction control and the general grip and power of your car.

In the past when I had the default settings of traction control on 5 and automatic gears, I just used option A) I floored it and let the traction control get me off the line.

With traction control off, just flooring it can make you spin and change direction. So then I use option C of holding the revs below the red line and then add the pressure to the pedal gently.
In some very powerful cars, some people suggest starting in second gear.

There may well be quicker ways, but the above methods consistently give me a good start in online races, when others are spinning and struggling.

Thanks for the reply, we race with traction control off, pp is usually around 500, I'll try holding just below redline and see how that works!

D) Timed launch. :sly:

Check the GT5 drag racing threads if that's a term you are not familiar with.
Worked on the speed test and tracks.
Seems to still work in GT6. 👍

I put full power on because everybody else does it and there is no wheelspin in most online races because they're on RS tyres. I can anticipate when the lights will go out and let the handbrake off just before. Sometimes it's a 1 second penalty but most races it's a couple of places gained before you even get to the start line.
