Still Playing?

There's been cars with vinyls in all GT games, there was nitrous oxyde in GT4 (NOS is a brand by the way) and physics ? they're good but does that make a game fun to play ? No. In Shift, they aren't so bad but honestly, I don't give a crap. Shift was their 1st try at simulation and they listen to people, not like Kaz who does whatever HE feels is fun.

150+ cars that can be customized like we want, tons of career events, autolog and more ? Geez, keep your sunday drive game, I want something fast, so get out the way granny, this is 2011, not 2005.

Hey Ben after seeing post after post by you I can clearly see and understand that you dont like the game. Why dont you just sell it and leave the forums and stick to the tames you like?

The game came out in 2010, right ? took 5 years to make, right ?

There you go.

Did EA make Shift 2 in 2 months??

I could argue that EA started developing Shift 2 in 2009.

It's not 2005 v 2011.

Just leave and shut up!
Everybody who leaves the game has to made a new thread?!

We need an "oficial thread for people who leaves the game" and then all could do his rant/cry/goodbye in that thread, and the rest of us won't have to read this kind of things.

Or maybe is a moderators job?

This forum sometimes is sooooo bored....

I am still playing and I re-discovered GT5 or discovered it new.

I tried out new technics with photo mode and am enjoying to collect classic cars at the moment.

So not perfect and I miss some basic features, but its fun and there is no other game at the moment with such a number of cars (even a lot of standards look good) and the lovely handling.

@Ben
if you don´t like the game or if you hate it, you should better leave the forum and let us alone. Because you make yourself ridiculous by trying to tell us, how bad GT5 is and how long the development took.
You just show, how less knowledge you have of game development and how superficial your point of view is.

Because only Kaz the idiot gives you 40 Skylines, 40 MX-7, and the US EU JP version of each, do the math...

Got to love the people who come into this thread just to flame the OP. You all should just shut up and leave. Sick of reading the same handful of people flaming away at anyone with something less than glowing love for GT5. Sorry you lot are so childish you can't read a opposing opinion without getting your wittle feelings hurt.

OP, I feel exactly what you're saying. I really expected this game to last years. Trouble is, they only made it to last a couple months. With such a short and unimaginative career mode, and no leaderboard support, and no classing system for online it really leaves people with little to do but grind the same events over and over again.

It's a shame, the potential for greatness is here. But sadly, there's way too many flaws and shortcomings for the game to last much longer.

And how far will that bring you in life ? Do you use those skills to impress women too ?

Please.

A guy made a list and if you keep 1 version of each cars, there's about, 520-550 cars in the game and seriously, the average gamer will probably use 40 of them (seasonal forces you to use more).

I'll let my friend, Pagani HUAYRA do the talking...

OUT !

So you're showing rendered footage that looks no better than in game graphics of GT5?

By the way, since you didn't respond to my previous post, I'm just curious but do you know what unsprung weight or rotational mass is?

As someone who isn't the biggest fan of GT5: That list was terribly flawed and really shouldn't be used as fact.

True, the list is no doubt padded by duplicates, but it's definitely more than 550 unique and different cars. I don't mean "unique and different" paint jobs either, actual different cars.

I could easily google it and pretend I knew something about it, but I won't. Google makes people intelligent online and in real life, they know nothing.

I don't give a you know what about unsprung weight or rotational mass. Do you know anything about plyometrics, pick & roll, pick & fade, backdoor cut, 2-1-2, 1-3-1, boxing out, Princeton Offense and such ?

See you in Shift 2.

Maybe because we're in a forum dedicated to the game, where the majority enjoys playing it. Ever thought of that?

Please keep the discussion civil in this apparently hot topic. Saying "bye" to a member or calling them names is not constructive (it's borderline trolling/spamming) and will get our attention. Play the argument, not the (wo)man.

Nope, but I know about racing, including the mechanics and physics of it. That's why I prefer GT5 and you prefer NFS. If I was buying a basketball game, I'd prefer something easy and entertaining because my level of expectation for realism is clearly lower.

Well, the point was that unsprung weight and rotational weight are related to cars and performance.
Whatever you mentioned (sports plays?) has no relation to the topic at hand.

He was pointing out that perhaps you're the wrong player for GT5 rather than GT5 being inherently worse than NFS. Both are good games but they do totally different things and historically are aimed at different audiences.

Until EA stops milking the consumer for $50-$100 in updates it will always be on the low rung for a simulator that competes with Forza and Gran Turismo.

While DLC is good, it is bad if they charge you for it.

Another point: EA has the worst online servers period. Their newer games have almost $0 re-sale value because you have to pay for reinstating the online feature.

Lastly: the only make that EA will always keep over PD is Porsche but now, it looks like Ferrari will be anything but EA, so its 1 for 1 it seems.

"Hi i don't have time in my life to play videogames, thus i am going to blame the creators of this video game, for my lack of time to play it"

Nice.

I've never said that I prefer NFS, the thing is, I'm tired of PD, period.

Most of what it says on the GT5 box was not even in the game on nov 24th or is a misprint.

1000 detailed cars (oh really ?)

Leaderboards (how long did that take ?)

GT's cutting edge graphics (nice shadows, trees, rain, snow, smoke, dust, spectators, water... can't be serious !)

Required disk space "256 mb" (Who the HECK printed that ? But if anyone thought that it would take 256 mb... poor guys)

3D game (what's the % of people playing in 3D, 0,01% ?)

Ok so stop complaining about PD and go play Shift...

It's people like you that PD likes, because anything they do, good or bad will please you because it's "FREE CONTENT".

My standards are high, yours aren't I suppose, but it's ok, I accept you like you are.

 perhaps you would have enjoyed the PAL version better: http://www.highrescovers.com/wp-con...urismo-5---Cover---PAL---UK-Cover-2777-45.jpg

Anyways, as someone that's played every Gran Turismo game (except GT HD), I knew what I was getting. Never bothered to read the cover. I knew it was going to have a piss poor menu layout, repetitive jazz music, abundance of Japanese (specifically Nissan) cars, lots of old and underpowered economy cars, etc.

I also knew it was going to have excellent physics, a huge number of cars, excellent reproduction of tracks, and a reverence for driving that you don't get from franchises like NFS.

Honestly I can find fault with ANY racing/driving game. It's just a matter of picking your priorities and living with the flaws. I made my choice.

Anyways, this is my last post in this current discussion, I'm mad because I've paid 110$ for a Collector's Edition and the game right now, even with all the updates (until today) doesn't make it better. It feels empty.

If my PS3 could play PS2 games, I'd play GT4 right now. The problem I suppose, is that the GT series stayed the same, so I guess I'm just bored with the whole series, until they bring something new, but I feel it will never happen.

That's why I'll be playing Shift 2 at the end of march and I can't wait to see how good (could be bad) it will be, I liked Shift, even if it wasn't perfect but the game is fun. Shift 2 can only be better and with a career mode like they'll introduce in S2, it will be amazing.
