Any fans out there?

I doubt many know them here in GTPlanet, but they were pretty big in '89. I'm listening to their debut album. Pure genius.

I've got every song they've ever released, aside from some DJ Remixes. Good stuff dude. 👍

You should check out "Crimson Tonight", it's a 4-track EP recorded live. If you like guitar playing, it rocks from start to finish. John Squire rules.:)

Second Coming has one of the best intros of any album EVER... And the rest of the album isn't bad either ;)

God I love my vinyl !...

Awesome group. I like the following songs...

"Love Spreads" (Their best song!)

"Fool's Gold"

"I Wanna Be Adored"

"Elephant Stone"

"I Am The Resurrection"

"Made of Stone"

"One Love"

"She Bangs The Drums"

"Sugar Spun Sister"

"Waterfall"

"Your Star Will Shine"

I'll check on that, CFM.

Those are pretty much the top songs I love too. :) 👍

Musically, I like them a lot, and I even like the singer's voice. But if you listen to the lyrics, they've got quite a snotty attitude on them. They could teach Liam Gallagher a thing or two about arrogance!

The Stone Roses were great, even if they were not the most productive band ever - it took 5 years for them to make their second album, and then they split up/self-destructed. Unlike Oasis who came after them, they couldn't handle the status of being the best rock band in the country, and failed to make the really big time. Still, "I Am The Resurrection" is guaranteed to get us old farts off our bums and on to the dancefloor (even if it is just to stand and sway almost imperceptibly, pint in hand and misty-eyed for our long-gone undergraduate days....). My favourite song though is "I Wanna Be Adored" - I remember thinking that I'd never heard anything like that before, at the time.... also, "Ten Storey Love Song" (from 'Second Coming') is something slightly different from them - just a shame the album was to be their last.

I Am The Resurrection!
One of the best endings to a song ever!
5 minutes of John Squire Genius!

Loved the Roses! Thankfully I got to watch them in Leicester before they split up, Ian Brown was so f*&ked up he could hardly stand up, but still a fun gig, since I got to watch Squire hit every note of the Resurrection solo, live!

Favourite songs:-

Standing Here.
Where Angels Play.
Sally Cinnamon.
I Am The Resurrection.
Sugar Spun Sister.
Waterfall.
Fools Gold 9'53.
Tears.
Begging You.
Made Of Stone (808 State Remix).

Also went to see the Seahorses twice, another 5 minutes of Squire magic on Love Is The Law. That guy just doesn't know how to play chords! But then again, why bother, when you can melodiously guitar-solo your way through an entire album!

I'm Indie-kid through & through, grew up in the hometown of The Charlatans, saw them a few times, saw the Inspiral Carpets in Manchester, They Might Be Giants in Sheffield, Primal Scream in Sheffield and Pittsburgh, PA., and The Seahorses in Manchester and Warrington.
Nice to see so many California folks on here that appreciate the Roses too! Had the Second Coming album on last time I drove the Miata down Big Sur, fabulous driving music for a fabulous drive! ;)

Touring Mars
(even if it is just to stand and sway almost imperceptibly, pint in hand and misty-eyed for our long-gone undergraduate days....).

I know the "shoegazing" dance well!
Although a bit of "Bez-ness" always creeps in for the livelier tracks and any Black Grape or Happy Mondays!

I have two CDs by them, but one is a tribute CD, second is a single that I don't remember the title to.

I was just gonna say, Stone Roses and the Beatles were major influences behind Oasis. :D
