A photo of my Ferrari California from the race at Monza this past Friday.

Racing at Monza by Musical_Artist, on Flickr

Almost all of the older SCRL race photos that are on my Flickr will be removed by 7pm cst today. If you want any, save them to your computer before then, otherwise, you will have to ask me to email you them to you if you want them after I take them down.

Are we still doing the Mazda endurance race?

Best lap time: BDA_VIPER/Ferrari 458 Italia '09, lap 7.

^Exact time anyone?...

...And about the Mazda Super-Enduro, I'm pretty sure we're still having it. I know i'm looking forward to it. 👍

Right, forgot about that part.

It's 2:13:445. 👍

I sent messages to some friends suggesting they check out the league. I told them that the Miata Super-Enduro race would be a good race to try. Some of the people I messaged are from Europe, and I told them that we are trying to form a European Division of the league.
When is Season 2 planning on beginning?

Cool, thanks for that jkt. Lol (I tried updating standings last night but Internet wouldn't let me connect to PSN to get the more recent stats, so I put in all scores I had offline via, my phone... Look for a points update tonight, verizon allowing)

As for the Miata endurance race(20 laps at Nurburgring nordschliefe @ night), it's scheduled for 2-18-12, next Saturday night, probably beginning an hr earlier than usual race start time(9 pm EST).

Season 2 will be scheduled to begin less than two weeks later, on 3-2-12, the first Friday in March, although it is a tentative date and may wait one more week, to let the European SCRL get ready, set-up and gather steam.

Just so I dont get booted for being in the wrong car, is it the Miata that is sold in the NCD?

Hey, how about if the next season is race another days, in the middle of the week?

What I was wanting to run is this:

Mazda Eunos Roadster (NA Special Package) ’89 - the one in the NCD
440pp
No rear wing aero
No tire restrictions
Naturally Aspirated (no Turbochargers or Superchargers on the car)

But, I am not sure what is exactly going to be used.

Thanks for getting back to me on that MA. I have been tuning one of those little guys so I hope it sticks for the race lol. So this race should be around 2 and a half hours give or take if I am estimating correctly.

Points Leaderboard through 19 races:

1. cararyoto87 - 324
2. GTP_Earthbound - 268 points
3. BDA_VIPER - 197 points
4. jkt008 - 164 points
5.(t) Musical_Artist - 141 points
5.(t) TeamOrlando - 141 points
7. O4E0_GSXR_1K - 137 points
8. SOJ_RUSS_VOICE - 109 points
9. n2000jnc - 107 points
10. JoeH187 - 76 points
11. Whiskeyinmybarell - 66 points

With bonus race #2 only hours away, this could be shaken up a bit, although it appears that carayoto87 has clinched the title as of last night with his 3rd place finish at la Sarthe. Congratulations to carayoto87 for setting the pace this season!

After tonight's Nurburgring 24h bonus race, I'll add in these(tonight's) scores and subtract each racers three(3) lowest scores, whether that be a no-show(0 points) or a 2nd place finish(16 points), that should even the score a little bit.

Good luck to everyone tonight and congratulations on an awesome SCRL season 1!

P.S. MA suggested a day switch for next season, and I've been thinking the same myself recently. Tuesday and Friday or Wednesday and Saturday seem to be good options, or a combination or those days(i.e. Tuesday and Saturday), although the starting times will remain the same. Any suggestions welcome?...

I don't remember suggesting a day change, but okay. I am good with the current days.

But, I do think that something should be different between season 1 and 2 to help it keep from becoming boring.

Sorry jkt, I was using tactical driving to mess with your head quite a bit during that Nurburgring race. It wasn't really dirty driving, just changing my driving and stuff like that to try to prevent you from getting into a rhythm or to possibly "knock" you out of a rhythm (not off the track).

Just to let y'all know, the photos of the last race of Season I are coming along amazingly. I am surprising myself with how good they are.
Though, the ZZII and NSX LM won't have many photos since the premiums just behave better in photos.

It's all fine. :) It was definitely one of the best battles I've had with another racer.

About the days, I'd rather if we kept it as it is. I think it's better doing the races on the weekends.
But, as MusicalArtist said, it would be a good idea to change something for Season 2. 👍

Your pit crew was DEFINITELY faster at changing tires than mine. That kinda irritated me. They were both Nissan pit crew also, which is even more confusing.

I like the days because it is like "weekend racing" after being at work all week. It is kinda like club racing or something. It has that feel to it.

Here is the first set of photos from the last race of Season 1. I will probably take more because I am really good with taking photos at the Nurburgring.
I edited the best unedited ones to make them look absolutely amazing. The unedited ones are unedited, I just stuck my name on them.
I was gonna make a nice gallery-style post with small images that linked to the big image, but, that takes quite a bit of time to do.

Hey, here are some ideas for things that we can try to make Season 2 still be interesting.

Generation Races/Racing Series races -
Have a few races that require cars from a certain time period and/or a certain kind of car.
There are plenty of cars on GT5, so I am pretty sure that most any of the requirements made will still allow for a good variety of street cars.

Environmental Variables in races -
Eiger w/ rain, Monza w/ rain, Suzuka w/ rain, etc.
It might be interesting to have some races with variable weather conditions where it might have a chance to rain but it starts out dry or vice-versa.

Damage and similar things -
It might be interesting to try having mechanical damage (visible damage is just useless to have turned on) or having real grip on. Maybe turn off the driving aids, or just a few.

Multi-Heat Races -
Instead of having one race that is 1 hour long. Have two 30 minute races. The first race, starting position is qualifying time based. The second race, the position you start in is the position you finished in the first race, or maybe even backwards of that. Kinda like a race restart.
It might help people who fall far behind quickly because of an accident early in the race.

I might think of more ideas later.

Hi all. I expressed my interest to join this league in the European section to ciccillo71. MusicalArtist referred SCRL to me. I have some league experience, i have raced in leagues before. But i enjoy racing street cars so much more. If the European section doesn't get created, i would still like to join SCRL even in the North American section if there is room.

EDIT: BTW you don't have to worry about connectivity issues cause i'm in the other side of the world. I always races in North American leagues and never had problems. ;)

Cheers, kariverson.

Hey, I was the one that suggest racing in the middle of the week, I like that option Wednesday and Saturday.

About this weekend race, the Miata endurance, at what lounge are we racing, MA's or Earthbound's?

GTP_Earthbound has everyone as friends, I don't, so I don't think my lounge would work.

During the week would be more fun for me. I have way too much to do on the weekends to be able to race with any consistency.

Would be a lot more fun to see some of next seasons races on lower PP. After the first two races it seems to turn into the Super Car racing league and the use of normal street cars tuned to a similar pp is just not competitive. As I found out at Monza.

We seem to be racing from 400 to 600 PP so half the series should be in the lower and half in the upper. Everyone loves the fast and powerful super cars, but it would be interesting to see more competition in the lower level. Also consider on certain races a production year limiter and this can put an entirely new twist on the same track.

Why not flip the series. All races in reverse order with the same low to high PP. That would put us on the same tracks with lower or higher PP. Not really a big deal to run a low PP car on a Sarthe or nurb track, just cut down the laps to make it fit out time allotment.

These of course are only my opinion and should be taken as such ;)

Also, let us consider racing in the 300 PP range. Racing is racing and it would be fun to blast around in little cars on a short track.

Any feedback?

Yeah, I'm interested in changing things up a bit for next season!..

Tuesday and Saturday seem likely as nights for race nights next season, although I didn't mind Friday, Saturday night races, it just left little time for practicing for the Saturday night race, and consumed the entire weekend, incase someone in SCRL had a party to attend, or whatever may spring up on a Friday or Saturday night.

As for the super low PP races, I wouldn't mind them. Like you said, racing is racing, regardless of horsepower. This league has covered all the popular PP ground, from low 400s to low 600s, and in our format(50 minute races) it seems that the higher PP races involve more pit/fuel strategy. That being said, Who's to say in a 50 minute, 300PP race that everyone can't just slap on RS tires and go the distance without pitting or even warming up their tires. I don't know for certain, because i have never raced that low for that long, but I'm sure it'd make refueling obsolete.

The themed races MA(hope I'm getting it right this time, lol) hinted at was the exact thing I had in mind when I drew up the original schedule for SCRL. I had themes planned out such as old American muscle at Laguna, JDM at Tsukuba, Italian cars at Monza, Tuners at Indy Road, pre-1960s at Eiger, etc. etc(although I would like to keep a few races open to all cars, a couple @ lower PP and a couple at higher PP)... But I soon found it hard to associate a theme to all 20 races, so I scratched the idea and SCRL became what it was.. A free for all, run what you brung, street/concept/tuner car battle.

I have no gripes against changing the format a little for season 2, to spice it up a bit so it doesn't become bland or boring. The only thing I ask is for some quality ideas from all involved to have a great variation of cars racing on the track for the entire season. I really like the idea of something different, even if it means making our season 1 archives obsolete.

The reason I say that is because I've heard the complaints about SCRL: that you can win by just choosing the right car(which I believe is hogwash.. You STILL have to drive it fast). But there maybe a little truth there, as a few people may have only used 3 or 4 different cars all season.

In a sense I figure the fastest driver will still win the title at the end of the season(congrats again carayoto!), but having themes will definitely make everyone dig deeper into their garage for a good car to race from week to week, race to race.. Which would not at all be a bad thing, given all the road cars GT5 puts at your disposal.

Awesome that we have another driver interested in SCRL season 2 already, and that Frankie and his friends are going to put together a European division of SCRL! I can't wait to compare and contrast times and records with a second division! SCRL is expanding and on the rise, worldwide!.. Just need a Japanese division(Kaz!?.. Lol)!

I've been on a bit of GT hiatus since the season ended, getting into Skyrim, since a friend at work let me borrow it, but I haven't forgotten my league responsibilities. I will go over results and come out with a final standings top 10 in the next week for all to see. In the meantime I'm looking forward to the miata super-enduro at nordschliefe this Saturday night, and coming up with a more exciting, enthralling and captivating season 2 schedule!

Thanks again to everyone for making SCRL season 1 a success. :)

All ideas welcome and wanted!...
Discuss:

Earthbound, I think you are on the right track to get this next season spiced up. As far as themes go we can get creative and it is ok if a few over lap.

Here are some themes off the top of my head. FF only, MR only, FR only, RR only. Pre 1960s. American muscle. V8s only (or any other engine or displacement size) Make a race of one nationality cars only. Mix and match the drive train layout with the country of orgin such as Japanese FR only.

We can have a dizzying race on the autumn ring mini with 630 PP lol. There is a lot we can do within our leage restrictions. I honestly believe the fastest racer will win no matter the vehicle. It will make it more comtetative in the mid ranks though for sure and the variety will be a lot of fun and give MA a lot more eye candy to work with :)

Oh, just thought of something. If you want to make certain that we use a variety of cars, the make and model that wins the race is no longer an option for future races in the season. Just a thought. We could also implement weight penalties for the winners lol. Just added challenge :)

Hey guys sorry I haven't been out on the track. My fiancee had our baby. So been a bit busy with that I'm hoping that tonight ill be home for that the miata race it has been a great first seasoning racing with you guys . I like the weight handicap idea possibly slow carayoto and earthbound down a little >=)

I think that using some custom tracks in season 2 would be interesting also. We could do some sprint races on tracks that people have made at a certain pp level and find the ones we like the most and use them.

I have two new tracks that are great. One is for 510pp modern American/Austrailian muscle cars and the other is for 530pp classic american muscle cars.

I just finished a track for 450pp 1980s japanese cars.
