Street Car Racing League (SCRL)

It's here.(!) The first Season of the Street Car Racing League(SCRL) is underway. Starting spots remain for season 1, accepting reserve drivers for this season and applicants for season #2. SCRL is about racing your best tuned and fastest street cars, tuned to racing specs at a given PP level. SCRL is open to anyone and everyone. Season 1 began December 9th at 10p.m. EST(GMT -5). Season 1 ends in mid-February, & Season 2 will be slated to start in the beginning of March. SCHEDULE, LEADERBOARD & ARCHIVE RECORDS AT THE BOTTOM, LAST POST, OF THIS PAGE!

Participation in season 1 will consist of 14 of the best street car racers in GT5, racing in 7 teams on 20 different courses @ 20 different PP levels, using street cars tuned to track racing specs'.

Have you been playing GT5 since it came out? Do you love racing street cars tuned to racing specs? Do you like to race online basically every night? Are you fast, but still looking for that great group of clean and fast racers to push you to make you even better? Tired of racing online without a purpose, and with the random jerks you come across in online lobbies? Looking for a street car league that provides excitement and competition, while not being so serious that you cannot miss a race for whatever reason?

If you said yes to yourself about all the above then SCRL is exactly what you're looking for!

The SCRL season 1 will consist of 20 races. Races will be around 50 minutes long, with a different PP set custom to each course. Two of the 20 races will be "bonus" races(race #10 @ Keyring 4.20 a custom Toscana[shared] track & race #20 Nurburgring 24h) lasting a bit over an hour and points accrued in these races will be doubled.

Races will be ran twice a week at night(@ 10 P.M. EST, GMT -5) Scoring will be point based and each racers' three(3) lowest scores will be thrown out at the end of the season, which will provide leniency for emergencies and family outings and such, and/or a bad race or poor car decision.(!)

The league is sure to be a hit & return for future seasons. Season 1 of SCRL will consist of 14 racers in 7 teams all racing in one lobby. Season 2(and progressive seasons) may expand to 30, 45, 100 or more racers, racing in different divisions with more hosts. That is the beauty of this "keeper" league, is that it is sure to expand and no limit to how big it could be in future seasons(for ARCHIVES scroll down.)!!

Team scoring will be a secondary thing(ala NASCAR) and no scores will be thrown out for its standings at the end of the season. Teams' scoring will be the addition of you and your teammates score, obviously. You may pick your teammate or bring a good, clean, dependable racing friend to join your team before the season begins. Name your team any one(or two) word(s) that is(are) acceptable, if not a default name will be assigned to you and your teammates team. If you don't have a teammate picked yourself you will be assigned one before the start of season 1.

*Again, teams(teammates) are in SCRL just to promote friendliness on the track, and give racers an extra incentive to show up for ALL the races. Don't let your teammate down!

Races will most likely be held on Friday and Saturday nights at around 10PM(10:30ish start) eastern standard time, although that is(exact days and times are) subject to change.

After the season has ended and the totals are added up, there will be a winner(1st place), 2nd place, and 3rd place prizes for both the individual championship and team championship. Also a first half(original tracks) MVP and a second half(real world tracks) MVP, and a most improved, also claiming prizes for individuals! But each racer who has put in 17 scores(20 minus the 3 lowest, or 17 if you miss 3 races), will receive consultation prizes as well for good sportsmanship and clean racing.

SCRL results, leaderboard and times will be posted in this thread(SCHEDULE, LEADERBOARD & ARCHIVE RECORDS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE) and updates to scoring and exact dates and times of upcoming races will be regularly posted here.

Replays will be saved and watched by myself & all other participating SCRL racers. Any complaints or infractions will be reviewed and points deducted at the cost of the amount of positions gained from said infraction and added to the total of the racer(s) involved that lost positions. Warnings/Strikes will be issued and toleration of dirtiness, short-cutting, over excessive blocking, dirty blocking and crashing is zero.

Rules and regulations:

Clean, with a three strikes and you're out policy.

Tires: Racing softs(super softs if they become available, you may use any compound you like)

Tire wear/Fuel consumption on.

Penalties will be off(SCRL enforces its own penalties).

Damage will be set to none.

Visible Damage: On

All Aides will be open for use. (SRF is encouraged)

Boost off.

Slipstream strength: Strong

Grip reduction: Low

Grid Start.(fastest first)

Race Finish Delay: 180 seconds(3 minutes)

You are allowed one clean blocking attempt per straight, if that. Two blocking attempts per straight, over use of the one block rule or a dirty block will result in a warning &/or strike(There has been some confusion about what is a clean block, two important facts, you may block with your rear bumper, NOT your rear quarter panel, and you may only swerve one car width to attempt this block. Once a car has pulled along side of you, your chance for a block is over, and you must adhere to GTP clean online racing rules). If you accidentally knock someone off the road or into a wall, the thing to do is wait and give the position back(no wait = no warning, automatic strike). No racing alongside a "Lead Lap Car", if you are a lap down, and encounter someone who has already passed you, you may not fight them... The thing to do is race fast until the oncoming car gets close enough to consider a pass, then you slow down, give up your fast line, and let the lead lap car around clean and without contact or resistance.

Three strike policy will be in effect. Third strike of unclean racing will result in banishment from SCRL. I will be the judge, jury and executioner for all infractions. If you do not want to race clean, I will have no problem replacing you with someone that does.

Any street legal vehicle is allowed, adjustable front and/or rear downforce is allowed. Tuner cars are allowed. Concepts of street cars are allowed. Only exception is NO TRUCKS! Absolutely NO RACE CARS/Touring/GT300&500/LM concepts/RM/TC/LMP's. No Furai!

Street CARS, not street TRUCKS! A VERY wide range of vehicles(cars) available for racing in races throughout the entire championship! You do not have to match your teammates car in make, model or color. Variety is key here.

Races will begin shortly after everyone has joined and ran a hot lap for Pole Position(fastest lap starts 1st and so forth). Late entries may not get this opportunity. I(or my GF, if i work late) will try to have the room open for an hour or so before scheduled races begin. Room most likely will be ran out of my private lounge.

Prizes for all racers will be on par or better than prizes you see in other similar leagues. Prizes will be revealed at a later date and will include DLC painted trade'able cars, car tickets(any and all tickets), paints, gear(helmets and suits[high end gear]) and RS tires.

I would have signed up now but the tyres are putting me off. A street legal car with illegal tyres is not a street legal car anymore. If you were using tyres that needed skill to be used then I would have no problem. And the aids discourage me from joining as well but I will consider all options and let you know.

That's okay, 050999742.. It's a RACING league, with street cars, that's why I have chosen to do it with Racing tires. I debated SS tires, but there are many other leagues that use them. The SCRL is for beginners and pros alike, that's why aids will be allowed. I imagine you will still need skill to win, RS tires or not in SCRL. I race in a room ran by a friend every night, street legal - Aides OK(RS tires), and ppl come in there and don't use SRF & win. They like the added competition of lesser drivers with aides on. I will too usually if i'm tuning a car still, go w/o aides, especially SRF.

I'm looking for dedicated racers who don't complain if they are beaten by an "Aided Up" racer. People who join MUST FULLY EXPECT TO GET 16TH PLACE IN A RACE, OR EVEN IN THE LEAGUES FINAL STANDINGS. Not everyone can get 1st(actually ONLY one person can), so anyone who is interested must be a gracious loser, and good sport about whatever place they might get. I know personally I'd be a lot happier if I did get 16th place every race myself, because that means two things: 1. Everyone else is Damn fast in my league, fast enough to beat a platinum racer at his own game; and 2. That whoever would have gotten last at least got 15th place and feels a little better about themselves, beating at least one person. That attitude is the one I'm looking for in fellow SCRL racers. Cockyness is welcome, but leave it at the door. Humble racers only.

Alright then ace, I was thinking that the only two races that will be an hour or a bit over would be race #10 & #20, because they are bonus & worth double. I was saying an hour(give or take) for two reasons. 1: because most people go online and play for at least that anyway.. well why not do it all in one lobby under one meaningful race; and 2: because a 45 minute race involves usually just 1(maybe 2) pit stop(s) & i was planning for at least two(hopefully 3), for more strategy/planning. Like i said though, most races will fall short of an hour. Hopefully you're still down though, because I've raced with you before and you are a good, clean, fast racer.. Just what I'm after! If you are doing a street league too after the new year then I'll wish you luck with yours.

This should probably be moved to the Racing Series forum as it doesn't seem to be a club format. Groups with a regular schedule and points are considered a racing series. Moving it there would get the attention of people you're looking for. 👍

Read up about the connection problems, and some people have said that its fixable by changing your router settings to be on the same NAT type as the host. My NAT is NAT2... you can check which one you are by opening up a new lobby and it should say at the bottom which NAT type your router is set to.

As for the start time, I plan on opening up the lounge at around 9 pm EST. Ace, i would do it and hour earlier, but i have to work til 9:30 EST on some nights, so races can't start until 10 EST (9 CST, 8 MST, and 7 PST). Sorry, I hope that isn't too late for any of you.

Sounds good guys. Anyone is accepted if you meet the qualifications and are able to make it to the races regardless of the timezone issues. I am looking for 15 other racers who will be able to make it to most if not all the races. SCRL stands for Street Car Racing League. In other words, it's just the name of the league.
