Preseason was basically a washout. Most that has shown up has been 8, out of the 20 + drivers registered. I'm doubting the seriousness of anyone missiing all 3 Preseason races.

Anyway, with only 6 racers on the starting grid last night, it felt pretty lonely driving down the chicaneless straight on La Sarthe. Race finished with 4 very sportsman-like racers. Results will be up later, just have to view the replay.

Most importantly the Season 1 opener is about a day & a half away & most SCRL racers have known about this race date for about two weeks. I fully expect to see most, if not all SCRL sign-ups to attempt to get into these races. It is what it is, but I'm really hoping for more turnout once the season really begins,. Considering the trouble i've went through to set up, organize, & maintain this league, SCRL sign-ups can fill their responsibilities & take the necessary step to obligate those two hours out of the week to show up & race. Thanks

Sorry I couldn't be there for the preseason races. I couldn't make them at that time. I can only make the actual races. I hope to see you on the track.

I had read in another post about how displeased Earthbound was with the in-game penalty system. I have a suggestion and thought to post it here as it will effect all of us in the series.

I was thinking if we simply implimented our own set of rules and enforced them we could turn those off. The replay of the race is reviewed as it is. I think if we made it clear that if some one intentionally cuts or blows a chicane they are DQd for that race and it counts as a strike it would be more sensable. I think almost every person racing at Sarthe had some issues with penalties that were leveled against us for doing something that would be acceptable on the circuit in real life under racing conditions.

It would also save people from any incidental penalties from a first turn pile up or someone pushing you somewhere you should not be. All of us can monitor and report someone we saw or think might be cutting and that can be reviewed. Just a thought. Let me know what you think.

well i just wrote a huge post descriptively spelling out how exactly i will impose penalties in SCRL. It got deleted as i had to re-sign in.

Basically if you see an infraction on the track you report it to me & save the replay, & as a community, SCRL governs the cuts. Certain tracks i will have penalties on & let them do what they are suppose to, others we will govern ourselves.

As i said before my post was so rudely deleted, a disqualification is a bit steep from a 50 min race for a single cut thru the last chicane @ Sarthe, & especially so if nobody is passed.

The grey area is if someone races clean for 12 laps & during the last few they cut through the blue on that chicane(which used to be legal) & rose from 3rd place to 1st. I'd say give the said cutter a 1 second penalty at most for each cut, adding to a 'penalty time' acquired during the race & added to that racers total time at the end, rewarding him with whatever place received after 'penalty time' is added. He may even just deserve a pat on the back, for truly displaying the heart of 'the racing spirit'.

Trying to find the fastest way around the track is the goal of any race(er). Just while doing it, ask yourself if you'd like fellow SCRL racers taking the same line(or cuts) you do. A fair & clean racing line is to be maintained at all times by all SCRL racers. I just don't want a good, hard, clean racer who's fairly pushing his car & the GT5 physics engine to its limits to be unjustly punished by GT5s faulty penalty system. So as a clean racing community SCRL will govern itself & fellow members to get the fairest & fastest races possible.

That sounds like a good compromise. The kind of cutting I was thinking about DQing someone would be blowing both chicanes at Sarthe doing 150 mph. Or rally crossing in the grass through an area that is not a result of going wide or a track incident. If the intent is there to follow the rules and to push your car I am all for it. If someone is in last place, as long as they are not impeding the race it is fair game lol. I know once I lost the rear tires on the McLaren I was driving at Sarthe it became a game of just how many penalties I could collect. Well that and how many times I could loop the car around.

Yes sir. A lot of penalties are just adding insult to injury during a race.. "I didn't want to be out here anyway, & i get a penalty!?". So i have had them off during the 1st two SCRL races. They'll probably remain off for the next few weekend race series'. Like you said about the last place racer, if it helps him to keep up and stay on the lead lap, i'm all for it(especially after the T.O. incident in race #1). That's the biggest problem i see with penalties off, is it doesn't ghost the lap cars and incidental contact(...or in T.O.'s case, lol).

So everyone, please show respect to all SCRL fellow racers, if it's your teammate or not, and for all track racing rules.

Thanks GTPEarthbound, I agreed with your decision, hope n2000jnc is too.

Another thing, I vote for change the days of races #6 (date 12-24-11) and #8 (date 12-31-11) because those are days to celebrate with family (specially the new year's eve) and may be hard to be late those nights racing. Let me know what do you think.

Yes, very honorable what n2000jnc agreed to. I was surprised by the actions of two SCRL racers on opening night. One act was to be forgiven(zXdanger) and another was probably not(TeamOrlando), as this driver should have known better already(no warning needed).

On those two race dates you mentioned, i had debated changing them before the season started. Now that it's here and I've gotten a reaction from a few SCRL racers about them, I have moved them.... Race #6 is now scheduled for 12-26-11, 10pm EST, a Monday night and Race #8 will now be 1-2-12, also on a Monday night. Who knows, if Monday nights seems like a better fit, I may change more Saturday night races to Monday nights.👍 Depends on turnout.

Hello, I'm interested in joining. I can commit to all the races. Let me know if it's cool if I can join. If I don't here from you today online I will send you a request tonight on PSN.

I know it would be WAY easier for me to make races during the week. I dont see much of my apartment on Saturdays as a rule. Glad you were able to reach a resolution with he mishap on the track. Good sportsmanship.

JoeH187, glad to have you as part of SCRL!

psychoboy, i'm thinking that i'll go w/ the friday & saturday scheduling the rest of this season, but for next season do maybe Monday & Fridays as races nights, essentially giving more time to practice for each race. We'll see how things go the rest of this season. I'm hoping to see you & many other SCRL drivers on the track in the coming weeks!

Can't wait to get going.

Excellent clean race weekend, with each race coming down to a side by side battle on the final lap between the top 2 drivers, with #1 in each case just coming through with a clutch last lap to secure victory! Awesome races Team SCRL! :)

(!)See you all next weekend, & remember the saturday races for the next 2 weeks are pushed forward to the following Monday Night(s) due to the holiday season.(!)

shoot i wish i hadn't missed race 2 . this is getting fun! thanks for all your hard work putting this together for everyone to enjoy. everyone getting to know each other is making for some very competitive yet respectful racing. the first 18 laps @ rome was the best 3 way battle i've been in period. clean but real tough racing. awesome job everyone.

Hey, I am just setting up my Flickr account, but once I get my photos off of my PS3 and onto my Flickr account, I will post some links to some cool pictures taken during the races.
I might not be the best racer out there, but I am really good at taking awesome action shots of races.

My R1 S2k had to pit twice during Autumn Ring. Blew it for me. Had a good time though. Hopfully I'll be more competitive at SS5.

Can't wait for the next race. This new tire wear model is going to make people think a lot more about car and tire choices. I know I am going to be putting in a bunch of laps in my lobby. I have a feeling this first race is going to have a steep learning curve on the new tire system. Going flat out the entire race as before is going to cost more pit stops on RS. Be interesting to see if the time it takes in the extra pit stops can be over come against someone using a harder less sticky tire. Good times!!!

Yes T.O. I wished you hadn't missed race #2 either, but i won to help make up for your absence. I have to admit, some very fast, hard & clean racing has taken place in the first two weekends of SCRL! Not that I wasn't expecting it, but WOW some of those races were hard fought from beginning to end, 1 bad turn & you lose your place, maybe even two places!

Cool beans MusicalArtist, can't wait to see your work in this thread, post pics w/e you want to! I've had a few pics from each race myself so far, but with how busy i've been irl around the holidays & w/ my job & SCRL management, i'm afraid i'll never get around to posting pics when i would like to. It would be nice to have a full-time photographer as a racing member of SCRL, sort of like league publisher, & i would deeply appreciate all & any artistic measures taken & added by any/all SCRL members.

JoeH187, yeah, i know the feeling... I had to pit twice @ Rome & finished 6th. I was close to using the R1 S2000 @ Autumn Ring too, but the main reason i switched to the Opera S2000 right before the race was tire wear.

Like cbrown said, a shake up is in order with the new tire wear modeling post 2.02 update. Myself, i haven't tested the tires yet, but from what i hear is RS tires will last about half as long as they used to, & RH last around the same distance as before the update, with RM falling somewhere inbetween.

Personally I don't like the change for 2 reasons: #1. (& Less importantly) Because the first 4 SCRL races have been ran already w/ pre-2.02 tire modeling, & records have been set & times recorded with the old RS tires... & #2. (THE BiG ONE) Is that the new tire modeling went the wrong direction, meaning RS tires were fine the way they were; RM & RH tires basically just need more 'life' added to them, & INSTEAD P.D. went the other(WRONG) way & shortened the 'life' of RS & RM tires, meanwhile RH tires remain the way they were(give or take). I mean a set of racing tires wearing out after 10 or 20 miles driven on them is in NO way realistic. P.D. needs credit where credit is due, the modeling was wrong before 2.02, with RS tires the closest to "right", its just a shame that tire modeling is worse now than before(but @ LEAST there is a noticeable difference in wear w/ the 3 compounds, lol). Basically P.D. went & tried to fix a wrong and made it worse, & at the same time changing the "rules" after the game had already started, like a 1st grader @ recess(didn't that kid usually get beat up!?).

Speaking of changing the "rules" after the game had started/ANOTHER P.D. fixture turned epic failure is Spa... or the lack there of. l was on GTP_Earthbound, which is not the PSN name i buy my DLC on, post-2.02 & tried entering a Spa room to test a few race cars on... joined the room, no problem. BUT once in the lobby, i tried entering the track & "BOOM", NOSiREEBOBBY, you haven't bought Spa, blah-blah! Can you believe the shear audacity of Polyphony Digital. The same Polyphony Digital that once upon a not so long time ago, said they didn't like the sound of GT5 DLC because they wanted EVERYONE who purchased the GT5 disc to have the same experience w/o missing anything because they didn't buy the DLC. Omission P.D... years later, AFTER they have gotten a nice, healthy taste of the DLC moneymaking PSN store brings them(OH, WOW P.D. figures it out, ppl waste TONS of $ on DLC), they make a DLC track once play-able by the masses, locked to all, but those who have shelled out top dollar for it personally. Thanks P.D!.. i DL'd your worthless lil' family pack share thing, which is & has been in all DLC on any game, for the past 5 years anyways, & NOW i can play a track or with the cars i paid a premium for on any name i have or might create on my $350 Sony PS3, of which i've bought 3 so far.

Like i'm getting at, i have SCRL race #18 set at Spa, but unless i make my league a 'pay to play' league, i will have to so rudely adjust the schedule. Omit the race, throwing off the balance of my schedule is not what i'd perfer to do. Hoping P.D. can make their Right-turned Wrong, a Right again & allow racers to enter Spa or at least offer me, one of their best all-time customers, an honest apology & explanation for their over-cocky money move. Any suggestions for a "New" race #18 by fellow SCRL'ers will be considered, though i was looking forward to 610pp @ Spa, it wouldn't be fair for me to proceed with that race, JUST like it wasn't fair, right or justifiable for P.D. to revoke the commoners access to Spa, after initially allowing it. 👎 Lets just be thankful that this isn't a playground w/ P.D. making games & then changing the rules mid-game to suit their fancy, because i'm quite sure me & this P.D. school-yard bully would have had it out a LONG time ago(around update 1.05). Consistancy P.D. consistency, definitely a top weakness of yours.. just hope you're proud of yourself.

I have to agree that it is going to throw off the second half of the series. Maybe the Nur GP track would work.

It doesnt bother me that they took Spa out of open lobies. That is a melee at the best of times and I dont often endulge. The one that gets me is that I cannot share the track with my friends in my own lobby. To me that is over the line. I paid for it, I should be able to host races on it as I deem fit. Otherwise what did I buy it for? Well rant off, look forward to some good racing tonight.

On the tires, well those racing softs blow off the car with a quickness. To me, RMs seem the softest choice that would make lap times and pit stops reasonable. I am just going to forget all about RS and practice and race on RMs or RHs. Good luck everyone. Tire wear and tire break away have been remodeled. It is a brave new world out there!

I could be wrong, but I could have sworn my tires were wearing during qualifying. I will have to double check that.

Yes i agree, 610pp at Spa was going to be a top 5 race of the SCRL season(COULD YOU TELL I WANTED THAT RACE BY THE SCRL LEAGUE PICTURE IN THE OP, MUCH.. have to change my official league picture now too!). 'Was' being key word there... but like you said cbrown, why did i buy it if i cannot post it in the comfort of my own private lounge & have my friends join in and race up(i know thats why i bought it, so i can host it, solely so i COULD host it!). Basically its just been reduced to an extra TT/practice track i have now, good for not much... Basically a good for nothing over-glorified Eifel track(my initial thoughts about Spa were that anyway). But Sorry everyone, i didn't ruin the fun, PolyPHONY Digital did! OK, I'll stop rambling now.

As for the new tire wear, its not what i'd have hoped for when i thought of them fixing the tire wear compound problem, but its how it is now & i'll have to live with & get used to it, until they fix it or w/e might 'change' in a future update.

But w/ the 2.02 update in the books, Spa going all but away & tire modeling changing drastically, it just shows you, as a humble GT5 online player, exactly just how much we are at P.D.'s mercy. It's like the trade cap installed way back in March... NOT something i agree with or liked at all or made ANY sense, but it's what i(& everyone else) will have to accept & get used to as a GT5 online racer. :scared:

Good Luck to all in tonights race & we'll see exactly what the new tire wear modeling does to SCRL races. No more slapping on RS's & going hard the whole race, pitting once somewhere in the middle. l'm curious to see just what the winning approach will be & how pit strategy has changed for everyone. As i read somewhere else, no more 'fastest racer always wins' & it'll probably become 'best managed race, comes in 1st'. Merry Christmas everyone & see you all Monday 12-26-11 for race # 6 @ Deep Forest, 525pp. :)

it seems just as things were getting fun they shuffled the deck. although the update changes are the same for everyone in the race, i find the experience as a whole less enjoyable. a step in the wrong direction? there has been little or no mention of the other (just as annoying to me) 2.02 change that seems to move the whole screen/ field of vision up and down side to side etc. i believe the intention was to create more realism, but i find it kinda tough on the eyes, and the first time i played it i flashed on the seizure warnings in the opening credits. lol. i used to think "how could this cause a seizure?" back to tire wear, BOO. good race last night though, we're gonna have fun no matter what!

Yeah, for sure T.O., an uninvited change of physics and gameplay by PD, but we have to suffer the consequences and bite the bullet.. Do i like the changes, NO.. Will i have to live with them, Yes. Sad but true.

It accelerates races and makes an hour long race seem like it was a 4 hr enduro race. I am pretty sure everyone in last nights races pitted twice(or more), with the exception of jkt008. I think this was PD's goal, to make the races seem more cerebral, or life-like but yet quicker or in an accelerated fashion. An attempt to make things more lifelike in the heat of a race, but it seems odd that a change to less realistic tire wear would help to do that... Ironic nevertheless.

My advice would be to get on these forums and search the tire wear(post 2.02), or Spa removal(for those not buying it) in the Q & A section and voice your opinion there. Watch out for trolls, but i've found out if you bring a logic enough argument to the table and make the other side seem irrational and stupid, they'll leave you alone.

Very exciting night-city race, with a good learning curve lesson about(the new) tire wear & pit management for all involved. Once again thanks to all who participated & looking forward to 40 laps at Deep Forest on Monday(525pp), which should be a Top 5 race of the SCRL season! :) MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL & HAPPY NEW YEAR! ;)

There is my Flickr Photostream. I am gonna use it mostly for SCRL photos currently, but, there will be a few of my favorite non-SCRL photos I've taken on GT5 in the Photostream also.

Nice pic of my Amuse!

Awesome pic's MA! I find them visually pleasing and I think the effects are cool! Also they enlarge bigger than my pic's, so bigger is definitely better in this case! Keep them coming friend. 👍

Excellent race and effort by all 9 starting racers in Race #6, with mini battles going on throughout the track during the entire race! Two SCRL firsts were achieved: 1st time everyone who started the race, finished the race(No disconnections/quitters)👍; & first time everyone who finished, crossed the line before the 3 minute 'end race' timer was up.:) Congratulations everybody!

Great, clean, competitive, fun and engaging race. This race proves to me that everyone who participated put time, thought and effort into running their best race! I am looking forward to seeing a fresh new batch of cars on the track in next couple weeks' races, 550pp @ Trial Mtn, & 575pp @ Grand Valley, 585pp @ Cape Ring & 600pp @ Keyring 4.20!:dopey:

As SCRL season 1 advances, we turn corner into more horsepower, which can only lead to more competitive races involving more pit & car selection strategy. Good luck to everyone in the coming weeks & Happy New Year to all SCRL racers & followers.;)

We racing tonight?

Race #7 was great. I got some good pictures from it. Here is my photostream link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/72459649@N06/

Here is my favorite photo I got.

As y'all have probably noticed, I like to capture the "essence" of the race. The speed and the thrill of the race in my photos. I don't usually take pictures that are completely clear, because they look slow, and we all know that the cars aren't travelling slowly. I am an Art Major in college, and GT5's photomode is how I practice using my actual camera because I never have anything to take photos of in real life.

Sorry I wasn't able to attend the last two races. I was a bit busy and couldn't make it.
