What's the best way to strip car wax? I've heard using laundry deturgent works but for some reason I can see that not ending well with the clear coat. The reason I want to do this is because I bought some of the new ICE synthetic car wax yesterday and it suggests stripping the old wax off first for best results.

laundry detergent NO, DISH washing soap yes. You should also buy a clay bar and use that after you wash that. That'll lift up all the impurities and crap and take everything off the paint and you'll be VERY pleased w/ the results cuz it'll make your paint smooth as glass

What he said. The product Zaino suggests Dawn dishwashing liquid. Then the clay bar. I can vouch for the results. Your paint will be super smooth!!!

All right, thanks guys. Once it gets warm I can go out and give my truck a good waxing. I also need to fix about 50 nicks and scratches as well.
