yes, very ugly with writing all over them. you can barely tell the ford from the toyota from the chevy
Gen 6 supposedly helped that. The first COT cars were ridiculously similar looking and bland.

Im sure i will get harassed over this...but i really think that the RB X1's are terrible looking. First, i hate the look of the fan assembly. It just looks like an afterthought, and doesnt really look like it should be there. My other complaint is that, for a "futuristic rules no object" car, it follows (or followed) way to many current F1 rules, which somewhat cheapened the experience for me. Cool, sure, revolutionary...meh. Just dont like it.

That said, I do like the Junior, and we will have to see what the new X2014 brings, but i can almost guarantee i will prefer the "standard" version over the fan car.

There was great article in one of the F1 magazines about 10 years ago about what F1 cars could look like if the rules were relaxed. Think they used the BMW Williams as a template. They reckoned that they would revert to more than 4 wheels, movable wings, can't remember what else but the car sure looked ugly. It obviously wasn't being designed to appeal to kids like the X Red Bulls are, I mean look at the Red Bull F1 car, fast but not exactly the best looking car of 2013.

They really should have left out the X cars in GT6.

If f1 rules were relaxed I am pretty sure all f1 cars would have closed cockpits and wheels like on the RB X car. Fans would probably be used as well to suck the car to the ground.
In the 80's the Brabham f1 fan car got banned after one race it was so effective, it produced more down force standing still than the other cars created at 185mph.

I vaguely remember that article. I think a lot of the assumptions were wrong. I dont know that they would use ore that 4 wheels. Plenty of other people have tried it, and aside from some minimal traction advantages from using multiple drive wheels, the complexity, and weight added by the systems negated any of the benefits gained in a lap time.

I think the new Formula-E cars are a good look at what an unregulated F1 car would look like. What with its 17" wheels and wheel cowlings. Enclosed cockpits would be a must, and we would see a significant amount of active aero, and active suspension. Fan cars, in some fashion, would probably be the order of the day as well. And i am sure that a hybrid system would be in the mix as well. But certainly driver comfort would suffer greatly, and the cars would be obscenely wide, and running the most tire they possibly could. It would likely have a very similar stance and footprint to a couple generations old LMP1 car. Think of something like the Audi R15, without the legality panels between the nose and the fenders, or from the center cowling to the rear wheel arches to cover the suspension linkages. And of course with a closed, low slung cockpit, and a higher nose to help feed the under car aero.

I dont particularly find the RB* F1 cars to be ugly. I think a fast car always looks good, because form follows function, and if it functions right, it should look right. It is just the nature of things, IMHO. But with the X cars, i would expect them to look more like something amazing, and less like an RB5 in drag, with a decorative buttplug.

I'm just thinking that maybe four wheels at the back might be a good idea for better traction. The contact area for a tyre to the road is very small and having thicker tyres might affect aero more than single file tyres. Guess we could go on and on.

I wasn't saying the RB F1 cars are generally ugly in the whole scheme of things, but compared to other F1 cars it isn't exactly in the top 10! I'm not a believer of if it's fast it's beautiful. Sure it's pretty cool that it's fast and can look mean and purposeful.

I think elements of the fake Red Bull X are pretty, but yeah the buttplug doesn't look very nice! I'm guessing they could have made it look nicer but wanted it to look similar to fan cars of the past so people could relate.

But it was designed by Adrian Newey, the best there is, with a brief of no rules F1 cars so i'm sure it would look very, very close to the RedBull X cars if it was real.

I think 6 wheels was just because of tyre tech in those days, i'm sure 4 now would give as much or more grip than 6 then.

. . . I think 6 wheels was just because of tyre tech in those days, i'm sure 4 now would give as much or more grip than 6 then.

The Tyrell P34, which is likely the most famous 6-wheel F1 car as it was the only one that was actually raced and even captured a 1-2 finish at the '76 Swedish Gran Prix, had reduced lift/more downforce due to the smaller front tires while simultaneously increasing the tire contact patch and the brake swept area in the front. It was actually the tire tech of those days that held them back - there was no real development program for the smaller fronts.

I think I should have been more specific, but...I meant cars with modifications. Like the way the placed the Tacoma's spoiler on the cab looks pretty stupid.

ANYTHING with one of those awful add on Ricer Wings!! (I guess if I was 11 years old I'd think they were cool. heh.)

And the Trans Am with the dewinging. If it removed the rest of the T/A pkg it'd work but otherwise looks silly. And also any of the add ons/bodykit for the Trans Am. Even sillier than usual. hahahaha!

Seriously, all of the body options on that car are stupid. Why did they even bother?

No not all the body options some make the car looks actually pretty damn cool, but some cars like trucks a spoiler is completely idiotic.

I think the only one that works on the Firebird is the rear window louvers. The super pursuit air damn and rear win, and the rest of it...absurd.

There are plenty of other cars were it looks just fine. Though I think the majority of hatch backs all suffer from the "wing on the roof" problem.

Nissan cube (Don't know why it's even in the game) and also Sambabus's with Front high suspension and awkward negative camber.
