I tried posting this in the wrong place aparantly....so I'm trying agian. I'm new too this so please excuse the posting in the wrong section - it was originally in Write Ups.

My question is, how many are in the sub 5 minute 'club' at Nurburgring? Personally, I think it is harder to achieve than mission 34.

I used the critera of the regular races, no four wheels off, no hitting walls, all else goes....any car, any mods, anything you want to try.

So far I have tried three different cars - based on power to weight ratio - and the only one I can get to go 'sub 5' minutes is the Minolta Toyota.....

Are you in this club, if so, what did you use.....

Not to sound annoying or anything but did you have to say superfluous....unnecessary would've been simpler :dopey:

Well that would have at least made sense. Obsolete would have been best. Better yet, how about adding something worth reading? What I find interesting is that in real life no car has ever been round the Nurburgring faster than 6 minutes? Is it just the lack of risk allowing people to set sub 5 minute times, or are these cars unrealisticly fast?

GT4 is unrealisticaly fast totally completely un-realistic !

(don't know the right words) the slowing down you have in reality when you are climbing a hill or whatever slope there is is not realistic, tire grip is unrealistic, braking is unrealistic, acceleration of turbo engines is unrealistc...really it's a good blend of realism and fun but far from reality, try playing the FIA GT game it's more realistic than GT4..in it handling is painful as hell which is the first step to realism in GT car sims lol

best ive done is probably close to 8 mins. i always get caught by the sharp corners at the end of the last long straight

Managed a 5'10 with an arcade-tweaked (+20%/-10%) Sauber yesterday. There's definitely a sub-5 in that car.

And you were told it should be in the online racing forum, if at all...

In any case, this will be rendered superfluous soon by the GTP GT4 Leaderboard.

nice to see you are still posting in that hoendous colour famine :yuck:

by hordes of unsatisfied customersgt4 is unrealistically fast

its a game! get over it.
if it was realistic it wouldnt sell to the masses as lil' kids wouldnt be able to handle it nor would many others.

I remember this poping up in gt3 for gods sake.... get over it pplz! :P

5:15 in my super Minolta toyota, on HARD tires, havent done it yet on Super Soft, and i just finished the 24 hours of Mans and got the audi, which i foud was faster than the toyota

If "tyre grip" is unrealistic, then it follows that braking and acceleration are also unrealistic, since the limits of those are governed BY tyre grip.

Try using N2 tyres, rather than sports tyres. You might find things are a little closer to reality that way.

moderators gotta go. must be nice for your **** to not stink. not all of your guys posts have been all that great either.

There are no moderators extant in this thread.

However, your profanity has ensured that there will be now.

That notwithstanding, huh? Your post makes no sense anyway.

Yeah man, those three corners'll kill ya, especially if theyre taking you a minute at a time.....

me?

so far, after 1 lap in it, i managed 5'24.524 in the Nissan R89CP.
Which means im in the wrong thread.....

Im just following Famine around.....

I read in an article that while GT4 was being made, they got some professional race drivers to drive the real cars around the track, then play the game, and their lap times were in 1% of each other.

But I agree with you. I remember the guy from Top Gear saying an Enzo would get 8 minutes around Nurburing, but in GT4 I was getting close to that time in much slower cars.

My best time is with the Toyota Minolta too... stage 4 turbo, supersoft tires, no nitrous:

5'12.6xx
5'12.5xx
5'11.9xx

I am getting close!

Anyone know what car was used to get the current real Nurb lap record? id like to try and set up a car with similar characteristics like weight drive train and power and see if i can get a time close to the real lap

Nothing can be similar - There is much more aspects you have to take into place - this is quite an unrealistic simulation in my views racing wise. Realistic to others, But to real racing ofc its not going to be near, You sit on your sofa or desk doing it watching a still screen with no distraction, Well other than the odd stuff like flies maybe :sly:

But I know what you mean - But I assume nobody will know the characteristics of it.

the car used to get stefan bellofs lap record at the ring was a factory porsche 956, he set 2 records, 6m 25s in the race and 6m 10 s or so in qualifying this was in 1983

Even if GT4 was a PERFECT simulator, it will always be faster than "real" times. The "Fear Factor" alone will cause any driver to drive slower.

My best time was around 5'12. I achieved that about 4 times. I also crashed viciously about 100 times! How much risk will you take if this was a real race, knowing a single crash can kill you or at the least, destroy a very expensive car.
