Thanks for the heads up...until you pointed it out to me, I thought the Grand Prix circuit was over 20Km long and takes over 5 minutes. How dumb of me...LMAO

F1 test link - Of course it's the OLD TRACK (Duh!)

I wonder what the lap times were for the F1 cars when they did the testing with Shumi and Barricello...
Very funny Photoshop that car of Michael.
Did you actually think anyone would be so stupid to go testing on that track in real life, if you are a F1 team?

The Nurburgring track F1 races on is only a 5.2km section.................and M. Schumacher has lap record of just under 1min and 30sec.

I agree totally. The bottomline is, have fun! Play it the way you want to.

Hi all .

Havent posted for a while on here , just thought i would enlighten you all as to the car that holds the current lap record for the ring.( this being the production lap record - not race )

Its called a " RADICAL SR3 TURBO " - which uses a 320BHP ( HYABUSA )motorbike engine thats turbo'd ..and it was driven by a guy called Phill Bennet...( i cant rememeber where i have seen this - but the video is available for download , and its nothing short of gob smacking )

As far as i am aware , being a RING fan , i havent heard of any production car yet to beat this little rocket's record of 7:19 secs .....all details are on the link below..

http://www.radicalextremesportscars.com/media/t_and_rc2/index.php

Fair enough , this time has probably been beaten by some of the worlds better RACE cars , but just contemplate this..........." YOU CAN BUY ONE OF THESE FOR THE ROAD !!!!!"

I WANT ONE !!!!!!!! :dopey:

Not that this is sub-5 minute, but i just (FINALLY!!!) got the last super licence in gold!!!!!!
Not sure if this is a decent time or not but i done it with a 7'03.080.

I would upload a pic, but i dosent have a digi cam yet ;(

So you missed the Donkervoort's lap of 7'18 then?

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=60962&highlight=donkervoort

And if I want to get really picky, the Radical never officially held the record as it's tyres, whilst being road legal in the UK, were not legal in Germany, so the Radical was denied the record. The Donkervoort beat the Carrera GT's "record", even tho' the Carrera GT was slower than the radical.

gtaddict
I can get 4;52 with my Black Polyphony Digital F1 car, on R2 tyres, i'll try see if i can upload a lap of it somehow.
How can you get R2 tires on the F1? I thought you couldnt buy anything for it whatsoever.

I didnt think the Carrera GT's time was official either though because it wasnt the final version of the car. (Not street legal)

I ran a 5:49 last night in the Minolta, Super Softs 👎, 25 setting on the tranny, 70 shot a NOS (for the final stretch), and No Driving Aids. It was a relatively clean run (no walls, some grass) except for I was hesitant quite a bit on my speed. Sub 5 is fast, you had to have been pushin the car to the limit on every part of the track. The problem I have is when the car starts to vibrate around 200+, the DFP shakes so much, that I have a tough time with over correcting the wheel with subtle movements. My arms are pretty tense trying to keep the wheel steady, even with the low setting on force feedback. I think I could cut off another 30 seconds but I'd have to drive perfect. I don't think I can make the sub 5 club, unless I can get rid of the damn vibration.

BTW.... I unplugged the force feedback, but it is much too difficult to get a feel of what the tires are feeling when turning, although I had no overcorrection issues.

DrTroy, have you ever tried to use the DS2? I know that it can be a pain sometimes, but it may be something to consider if the vibration is too much. I haven't had the opportunity to try out the DFP yet, not until this weekend at least. I'll see if there are some settings that may be more adequate so that the vibration becomes manageable.

Guyver 1,

I have played with the settings, nothing takes the vibration away. Only solution is unplugging force feedback, steering is too loose then. I have tried the DS2.  :banghead: :ouch: <--- Pretty much sums it up. I have to say its fun running around the ring that unrealistically fast.

I am sorry to hear that the vibration/feedback with the Minolta is giving you a hard time. I had a very difficult time getting used to it myself.

I currently have the following time with the Minolta:

4'58.001 - Arcade Mode, +20% HP, -10% KG, R5 Tires, Default Top Speed (400km), no driving aids, DFP simulation, 100% feedback, no aids for the wheel.

I am working on getting it down to a sub 4'50 time but that will take quite a bit of work.

Note this is Arcade mode so I can't modify the suspension or add NOS or other upgrades of that type.

Indeed that time is impressive my good chap. I have been trying in GT Mode with a fully modified Minolta. I also leave the steering aids off. I leave the suspension at stock although I wish I new how to properly tune it, I think if you really know what you're doing with the suspension then you can cut your times drastically. I have the guide on order and I hope for more information on proper suspension tuning in it. I'll have to give it a whirl in Arcade mode. I assume you saved your replay or ghost, so would you mind posting your split times, so I have something to shoot for.... Thanks for your help in advance. 👍

I saw this thread and thought, wow, four pages worth of outstanding (or cheating/lying) GT4 drivers who have done the 'ring in under 5 mins, when I struggle to beat 9. It appears ppl don't read the title of the thread though, only bloody 3 of you have done it, 1 apparantly using some sort of cheat to change tyres. Otherwise, a load of meaningless times of 7+ mins. Who cares!?

the ring was great hey... scare the pants off ya.
the ring 2 is out i think atm...
;)

LMFAO, Only Ving could pull this and not get flamed, along with fiat avatar, v.nice, looks better in red or blue tho.

I had the replay untiil a couple of days ago. I have tried it again and now this is what I have.

Arcade Mode - Minolta Toyota 88C-V Race Car '89

1087 HP - +20% setting change
765 kg - 10% setting change
400 km top speed - default setting
Transmission: Manual
Tires: Front: RSS - Rear: RSS
No Driving Aids
Driving Force Pro - Simulation - Active Steering Off - Power Assist Off - Strong (100%) Feedback.

Segment times are as follows:

T1: 31.606
T2: 54.203
T3: 1'14.540
T4: 1'50.071
T5: 2'16.727
T6: 2'34.055
T7: 3'09.929
T8: 3'39.647
T9: 3'53.972
T10: 4'23.726
T11: 4'40.198

Lap Time: 4'56.308

There is still another 1.5 - 2.0 seconds left with the settings listed above, possibly more as the segment times shown above aren't all the best segment times I had today while coming up with this time and doing a clean lap (which this is).

Someone has posted a 4'54.540 with the same settings except they modified the top speed to 450km. I am working on beating that without modifying the top speed.

Let me know if there is anythin else you need.

OK, I think I'm giving up. I have been doing it in GT Mode. I ran the 'Ring last night for 5 hours in the Minolta, kept resetting, kept resetting..... The 3 times I actually finished without resetting, my times were 5:50, 5:50, and 5:45, finally beat my record. I might try it on Arcade Mode since after readng "Gran Turismo 4: Driving the Game", it confirms that the physics are tuned down a bit in Arcade Mode. Those split times are spectacular! By the 2nd split, I am already 6 seconds behind. Most of my T2 times are 1:00 or 1:01. Wow I don't know where you chop that time off. I will try arcade mode and see what happens. Thanks for posting your splits.

I think the Arcade mode is much quicker than GT mode. I can't get sub 5's in GT mode yet (haven't tried the Minolta Toyota because I don't have it), but it's not that difficult in arcade mode even when I'm using other cars besides the Minolta Toyota.

I wouldn't give up. I know the physics are tuned down in Aracde Mode, I but I ahve to believe with proper tuning that the same times are possible. I have seen a replay of someone doing a 4'56 with the Audi R8 in GT Mode with tuning.

Here is the latest time I have posted in Arcade Mode. If you want I can try one in GT mode and let you know what I get. I have been doing this in Arcade Mode instead of GT Mode for two reasons (1, I don't want to pay to drive, LOL, and 2 I sold the car to have money when I reach day 694). I can do the El Capitan again to get it if you want.

Arcade Mode - Pegasusrjf - 4'53.148 - Minolta Toyota 88C-V Race Car '89 - 1087hp - 765kg - 400km - RSS/RSS - All Drivers Aids Off - MT - DFP (simulation, no assists) - NTSC U/C, US copy

Segment times are as follows:

T1: 31.370
T2: 53.990
T3: 1'14.156
T4: 1'49.476
T5: 2'15.987

T8: 3'38.197
T9: 3'52.564
T10: 4'20.377
T11: 4'36.860

Lap Time: 4'53.148

Those are good times Pegasusrjf. Regarding the Audi R8, is it inherently faster than the Minolta? I have yet to drive that car, but I've been hearing good things about it. A 4:56 is a wonderful time, I was able to obtain a 4:58 in GT Mode(driving the Minolta), with the essentially the same top speed, but I know it can be knocked down by a couple of seconds. Has anyone else tried the Nissan R92CP? I've been trying to run under the 5min barrier with this car, but it's lack of a sixth gear makes it a bit more difficult to tune than the Toyota. Any good gear set ups would be appreciated. Thanks, and I hope to see more Le Mans cars(like the GT- One) reach this barrier on the Nurburgring leader board. 👍

Pegasusrjf,

Please do, that is, try it in GT Mode. I think I know what my problem is. My spring rate is too high for the course. I've been using stock setting and the spring rate is very stiff. The car seems to "skip" alot. I will raise the ride height and loosen the springs a little and maybe that should help. Although, I don't think I can cut 45 seconds off, that seems tough. I wonder what settings people are using to get sub 5 with the Minolta? Fill me in.

Dr Troy, to answer your question, here are my settings for the Minolta.

Gears: Default (17 Auto), 5th: 1.060, 6th: 0.829 -- These were the only gears I changed

N20 setting : 40

TC = 3( I wore out my X button :) )

Transmission : Automatic

I didn't modify the suspension or anything else. I use the DS2 though, so I don't feel the road as much as I would with the DFP perhaps? The Minolta is nerve racking to drive but I got used to it. One suggestion would be to try the R92CP, it feels just as capable and is more stable than the Minolta at high speeds. I'll run this car as well to see if it can make it under the 5min barrier and I'll post my settings as well, so far I'm at 5:06.

Oh, I forgot to add a few things on my settings:

Power: 4th stage turbo = 1223hp

Weight : 850kg

ASM: off(I hate understeer)

These settings should make me or you run a 4:56 in GT Mode, but I haven't had the chance to run another hot lap yet. I hope this helps.
