Welcome... :) I know i already made a Mitsubishi Evolution Fan Club and the Evo and STi are rivals, but what can i say I love both Evo's and Impreza's. STi and Evo is a huge comparison. Its like Mustang vs Corvette and Supra vs Skyline etc...

I will admit that i favor the Evo alittle bit more... i still love STi. Old or new verison i still love it even though i do like the old STi's.

STi are amazing machines and that is why one of the reason that they are so fast. The car itself is a masterpiece. Well anyways, this is a fan club or what i really call is a topic devoted to STi's.

EXPECT ALOT OF PICTURES FROM ME ;)

Few pictures i took from my other topic.

This is from your original quote. I would just like to point out to you that the rivals were the camaro and the mustang. The corvette and mustang aren't close to each other. Just thought I'd inform you. I too like STi's.:)

:)

There was a 2.5RS that had a couple body kits on it at the last autocross, and looked more aggresive than mine. But may I add, he looked more aggresive seven tenths behind me.

Love Subaru Impreza STi's

Hey do you have any idea if STi is bring the STi Legacy? I have heard rumors but not sure, it would be nice tho, or any STi tuned cars.

http://www.need-desire.com

Im talking about a STi tuned Legacy. STi is Subaru Insituta International (cant spell insituti thing) which is a subaru tuner just like TRD is to Toyota. People think that STi mean the Impreza and its not. That is used wrong. Most people who say STi means the STi tuned Impreza but there is other STi model in japan. Some of which is said to come to state side. STi Legacy B4 or what ever its called, i was just wondering tho.

I dont like that when people say stuff like "I like STi" That is saying you like the tuner STi... so i just want to inform people that.

Hope i made sense :banghead:

Look at this mine Legacy

My cousin just bought a 2004 Subaru Impreza STi... its blue with gold rims. He got it for around 32K at least that was what i was told. He bought it in ATL, i went there alittle bit too late just missed him and his car. I did speak to my uncle (his dad) the one who bought him the STi... he didnt really enjoy it all that much. Even my dad said the spoiler is ugly because its "too big!"

My cousin could have bought alot of other cars he wanted but he chose the STi why? He summed it down to either the LanEvo VIII or The 04 STi... since he already have a 01 Eclipse GT he went for a Subaru. He had a mitsubishi and the reliability on it wasnt all that good. The Subaru is more reliablily at least thats what we think. I am a big fan of both... but if i had to choose it probably would be the LanEvo...

My dad and his Dad wanted him to get a BMW or Lexus... you know luxury car, any car he wanted under 60K he probably could have gotten. He chose the STi... that would probably be my second choice i would still rather have the Lancer Evolution. I would take a 22B over the Evo VIII tho ;).

Oh yeah and since i dont want to bore you... heres a picture

Beautiful huh? :D

Ahh, thats weak. I'm sorry but when I'm driving in my WRX, I'm proud that I'm paying for it, that I work hard for it and that is mine. I believe Josh said that buying your own car is much more rewarding. It is. Of course I would take an STi if my parents said, "Want one?", but I don't think I would enjoy it as much.

The 4G63 motor has been in production for a long time. I know there are differences in the motors in the first generation DSMs vs. the second gens, but I would still trust it. I believe this is the first year Subaru has used the EJ25T in the STi. Hopefully it'll be reliable, and I don't see why it shouldn't be. Evolutions, I like. But I like the Subaru as the underdog. Like I've said before, I will kill Evolutions at autocrosses.

I do agree that paying for your car is more rewarding... but he dosent work. As for me... ill probably be the same way, parents pay for the car. I mean i would love it more if i paid with my own money but where would i get that from. I think he did pay alittle like a few thousand and his father paid the rest.

Did you pay for your WRX alone? Your parents didnt offer to pay? Are you making monthly payments or what?

Your stock impreza would kill an evolution at autocrosses? I really doubt that. Even a STi would be hard beating an Evolution... in most magazine and Best Motoring included STi always fall behind the Evo. Unless your WRX is modified i would see it hard to kill an Evo at autocrosses.. Evos are known to rule the autocrosses.

rollazn, I had three grand in the bank but the parents put down the downpayment simple because I didn't have my checkbook on me and didn't want to run back to the house. They'll be getting that three grand tomorrow. I pay for everything related to the car.

Monthly car payment: Roughly $390
Monthly insurance payment: Roughly $350
Gas: Hard to say really... My guess would be $75 a month, depending how much boosting I'll be doing.

Right now, the WRX and it's driver won't kill Evolutions. But I wouldn't doubt it could be done, with a stock WRX vs. a stock Evolution. So much of it depends on the driver. I would bet putting an expert autocrosser in the WRX and me in the Evoultion, the WRX would win. The right modded Subaru would kill it, I'm guessing. I would of loved to of seen what the yellow Cobb Subaru would of done against everyone in SCC's AWD Turbo challange. It killed everything in the skidpad, before it hit the water truck. Gr.

I agree... So for autocross you think the STi is better given equal drivers?

It's hard to say. I imagine that the Evo's turbo lag would be it's biggest downfall. As long as that turbo is spooling, it should be all good, but if it was a real technical course, then it would suck if you were stuck in second. I'm personally too afraid to shift into first while doing more than a mph or two.

Oooohlala, 200 posts.

Yeah, thats true. Either way it would be a driver's race.

Oh yeah... congrat on the 200 posts, its my 1853 post :D

Winner... STi

The highest HP STi is the 22B right? The 98 22B is an incredible car. ITs rated at 280ps but it actually has around 350HP (which is the highest power STi and highest power Japanese car so far with 350hp).

It has 350hp and 302 ft lb of torque more than our US verison which has 300hp and 300ft lb of torque.. its basically just as fast as the 22B on the 1/4. As for circuit.. i dont know. What do you think is the fastest STi? There is the one in japan the newest one the Spec C... ours and the 22B. The 22B has a close 5 speed tranny... its more rally inspired then any other STi.

I think the STi could handle much better with some simple modifications. Maybe a slightly bigger rear sway bar, I'm not sure how big it is stock but many people say get anywhere from a 18mm to a 22mm for most of the other Subarus. Wheel alignment, possibly. For people with more cash, possibly switching out the USDM suspension system with a JDM. I've heard the JDM is a little bit more agile, and I would be money they would fit right on. Heck, STi springs/struts would of fit on my old RS.

To me it seems like there are a lot of cheap and simple modifications you can do to a car to get the desired effect than spending boat loads of cash on fancy new parts. Or simply change the way you drive the car.

You can purchase a full coilover kit from almost any company of your choice, for a little more than what STi springs / struts will cost.

How do you like your new wrx? :)

Hrm, true. Wonder who would be the best?

The WRX kicks arse. Keeping it under 4,000rpms is the hard part. Subaru is evil and lets you taste the turbo at 3,000rpms and then really gives some juice at 3,500rpms and then BAM! Shift it. I've taken out to 4,500rpms or so a couple dozen, and 5,000rpms three times (yes, I've counted, bite me). I'm just worried giving her a good upbringing. Handling is stunning. I've thrown it back and forth on residential streets in the middle of the night, and it goes where I want, nothing unexpected. All in all, a stunning car that is way above my driving skill and will take a few good years to learn. I'm in love with it.
